I watched the Oilers broadcast of the game last night. It was hilarious listening to them fumbling around trying to excuse the Oilers and basically chalking it all up to "bad luck". What they failed to grasp is that the Canucks are making just about every team look silly this season. The only bad luck the Oilers are having is the schedule that made them play Vancouver 3 times in the first dozen games. The Nucks outscored them 18-6 and won all 3 games. Reverse that stat to be in the Oilers favour and suddenly their season doesn't look like a total disaster. I don't know how things are going to play out over 82 games but one is sure, this Canuck team is the real deal.
Interesting the long leash McDavid gets. If he was a frustrated Flame with a late hit (Anderson) or trying to get puck free (Maniapane) he would have been tossed & suspended without hesitation. You know Mcdavid, is a truly special player, even beyond Ovechkin, when every single player getting hit by Mcdavid, or cross-checked in the chest or face, takes it easy on him.
Like they don’t want to get scored on but they also don’t want to injure the best player to ever touch the ice in their decade. That is true class.
I even remember Lucic, getting in to it with Mcdavid and when Mcdavid, punched him in the arm and chest, Lucic, just held on to his body with one arm like he was a little brother.
Lucic, to anyone else would have murdered them with punches and aggressive body throws immediately.

I watched the Oilers broadcast of the game last night. It was hilarious listening to them fumbling around trying to excuse the Oilers and basically chalking it all up to "bad luck". What they failed to grasp is that the Canucks are making just about every team look silly this season. The only bad luck the Oilers are having is the schedule that made them play Vancouver 3 times in the first dozen games. The Nucks outscored them 18-6 and won all 3 games. Reverse that stat to be in the Oilers favour and suddenly their season doesn't look like a total disaster. I don't know how things are going to play out over 82 games but one is sure, this Canuck team is the real deal.
Interesting the long leash McDavid gets. If he was a frustrated Flame with a late hit (Anderson) or trying to get puck free (Maniapane) he would have been tossed & suspended without hesitation. Message received, elite players still have different rulebook & can do whatever to opponent with at-most a 2 minute penalty.
Imagine being McDavid and Draisaitl knowing that no matter how well you play you will waste your career on a team that will never see a Stanley Cup.

I think most people's career goal is to make loads of money and retire rich. Why would anyone think it's different for these guys. He needs to replace the goaltending coach. If he wants to fix the goaltending, start with the guy who's been coaching the goalies the past 10 seasons, Dustin Schwartz. Otherwise, it's not going to matter what goalie they bring in.
