I heard their song "Plug In Baby" from a REALLY old video, like pre-youtube, and I couldn't remember the lyrics but the song and singer were so unique that I kept thinking about it and wondered who they were for like 5 years. Then one day I finally heard their song "Knights of Cydonia" on the radio and I was like," IT'S THEM! THAT'S THE SINGER!" and proceeded to listen to nothing but their discography for 6 months. Absolutely brilliant band. Their first four albums are basically full of bangers.
Matt Bellamy is the singer/guitarist of the band. It is literally insane how talented the man is. I've seen a clip from a live performance where he ran along a part of the stage, holding the guitar, playing the intro to the current song while running. I highly recommend their song Knights of Cydonia, it will blow your mind.
I’ve been to over 400 concerts over the last 20 years, from James taylor and Eric Clapton, to roger waters and slipknot. Muse puts on the greatest live performance ive ever seen. Their 2010 Glastonbury performance is legendary.
Rob! I've been a big fan of this series so far, then you go and react to my favorite band!?!? Hoping you do another Muse song or two in a future video. Whole lotta bangers in their catalog!
Muse is one of my FAVORITE bands!! Check it out: Muse guitarist/singer/song writer Matthew Bellamy went to the Pink Pop festival in 1992 and saw RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE in person. Rob, Matthew said seeing that show told him he needed to be a musician for the rest of his life because he was so impacted by RATM!! No lie!
20 years listening to that damn song almost every day of my life and it still slaps like hell every single time. Saw them live twice this week and it's 20 times this, I can't even describe
The White Stripes were a band. Lead singer and guitarist was Jack White. He has since formed multiple bands over the years. Dude kills it on the guitar and is known for unique sounds to his music

I’m always suprised when people don’t know Muse. They have such an incredibly big and diverse discography compared to other bands like Coldplay and U2 who have found their comforfable space and never leave it.
Chris is my inspiration for playing Bass, I've spent a alot of money trying to recreate his sound, the guy is self taught and arguably one of the best bassists in the world.
Unbelievably underrated rhythmic section! And I can't believe Chris is out of the top bass players lists. I mean with all due respect having McCartney and not him is a travesty. Is his sound difficult to replicate with pedals? I haven't attempted to do it.

the distorted noise you hear is the bass being played through an effects pedal. Muse is a great band, you should check out Knights of Cydonia, its one of their most popular songs & you'll dig it.
Crazy that you mentioned a Jet Li movie. That's exactly how I first heard of Muse back in 2005. Their song Apocalypse Please is either in the trailer or the actual movie called Unleashed. Awesome that you saw them in concert too. I've seen them 3 times and they always put on an amazing show!
I’ve seen these guys twice. Their music is phenomenal, their live performances are perfect, and the stage show was crazy. The first time they had a 3 section stage in the middle of the stadium and sheer sheets hanging down. Projectors made it look like they were marionette puppets being controlled to play. They second time a massive dragon slowly appeared from the back of the stage and started blowing fire over the crowd. Awesome stuff
I’ve been a fan of Muse since 2007 and I went to their live concert a few month ago in Kuala Lumpur. Amazing band. Everyone ! either you knew them or not, you wont regret going to their live show. They are very very good ❤

I first saw their video for Sing for Absolution in 2004, been a fan ever since, have all the albums, and have gone to the last 3 concerts. A lot of variety in their catalogue. They are my absolute favourite band
Speaking of it being a feel good song, they have a cover of the song “Feeling Good” that’s worth checking out. And this song is pretty big for them. The bass line that opens the song regularly makes musician’s lists of top bass lines. Awesome reaction, man.

Indeed! Never really listened much to them before but that changed after I saw them live (I was there to see The Warning who were supporting them.) because even though I didn't really care for ALL the songs, enough of them were bangers and I loved the live performance! The whole “white music” idea needs to die in my opinion . Rock n roll was literally invented by black Americans (all modern music can basically trace itself to the roots of blues, jazz, and rock from black Americans in the lay 19th century to the early 20th century) and as a fellow black guy that grew up loving all different types of music and that plays two instruments it always bothered me that I was only supposed to be into three contemporary types of music. The history of contemporary music is so intrinsically tied to black Americans and we have allowed decades of assholes to convince us otherwise. Matt the lead singer of muse has even said that prince, Jimmy Hendrix and Tom morello (three black American men) are his biggest influences . Although over the last decade or so we are seeing way more bruthas embrace ther inner rocker publicly which has been amazing to witness.
@@mookiestewart3776 I don’t disagree with you. Rob, the best way to experience Muse is by seeing them live! They have a lot of live video on TH-cam. I recommend seeing them do "Knights of Cydonia" (I prefer the Wembley Stadium version, 2007), "Supermassive Black Hole", "Butterflies and Hurricanes" (definitely Wembley for that one), and "Stockholm Syndrome". This is just a handful of songs of their amazing catalog!
"Butterflies and Hurricanes" from the same album has similar "anime fight song" energy, but it's much more understated and instrumental. I think Hysteria is one of the two most well known songs from it, the other one that got a lot of air time was "Time is Running Out". The other songs that are closer to rock on the album are "Thoughts of a Dying Atheist" and "The Small Print", but "Endlessly", "Sing for Absolution" and "Falling Away with You" are all also really good songs. Absolution is just a solid album overall. I think "Black Holes and Revelations" and "The Resistance" are also really good, but people can fight over that.
Definitely in my top 3, maybe even top 1 favourite basslines of all time. Chris (the bassist) is a BEAST on the song; that line goes for pretty much the entire duration of the song and he'll play it EVERY gig for an entire tour.
This story is cheesy af, but I went to a music festival back in '07 where MUSE played right before Rage Against the Machine and that day changed my life, I knew I wanted to work in music. I've now been working in live events/concerts/festivals for 15 years. I'm glad you jumping into Muse, hopefully you'll be back with more from them.
Okay you might also want to listen to Plug In Baby, then. The opening guitar riff was voted by Total Guitar magazine readers as one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time.
@RobTV Funny you should mention this would be a good fight scene since their first mainstream exposure came from their song "Supermassive Black Hole" on the Twilight movie. This is definitely a feel good tune...great for a workout.
Muse is solid when looking for a change of pace from the heavier stuff. Can’t go wrong with the following: Dead Inside Uprising Panic Station Supermassive Black Hole
Awesome, Rob! Love your enthusiasm, man, it is infectious! So even though they sound HUGE, they’re a 3 piece. Matt Bellamy is the lead singer and guitarist.
Muse Muse Muse! A great live band with diverse catalogue and highly talentend members. And I just love how each of them stands out on stage. If you only listen to a particular sound in music, you'll only stuck on their one or two albums. Muse love getting out of their comfort zone. They dgaf if people will hate them for that lol!
Great channel! I'd forgotten how good this song is. I saw Muse several times about fifteen years ago and they were great. A lot of the songs from their first four or five albums are excellent - very dramatic and epic!
They just released the 20th Anniversary edition of the album this song was released on, Absolution. Love them. First heard them in 2006 and saw them in 2007. Muse puts on one of the greatest live shows today. They sound fantastic live. Edit: Knights of Cydonia is my favorite. My favorite music video though is Pressure, cuz it's got Terry Crews fighting zombie-hamster things.😂
I refresh TH-cam constantly to see what you've listened to next. Thank you for still giving us content to watch after a long day of work when you yourself bust your ass and still provide. Thanks man
White Stripes is absolutely a band, so you probably saw them. Yes, the guy sings and plays guitar too! If you haven't already you should give them a listen and see if it rings any bells. I love both bands. First time hearing you; cool reaction video. Have fun!
Whether you do it on the channel or just during your free time, check out a video called ‘when MUSE only give you 60 seconds to audition’ by a guy named Charles Berthoud. His skills are fuckin amazing. Side note - he has similar videos for Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, Slipknot, and others that are also worth watching.
I really do like Muse. And as far as your “movie” comment, it seemed like Muse was on every Twilight movie soundtrack lol. Anyway it actually worked well plus just the appreciation of their music to put them on the soundtracks is cool. Take a look at “Uprising” (maybe top 3 in popularity by them). And “Knights of Cydonia” wheewwww. That almost seems like a mini movie to me. I think you’ll love them both! Stay blessed. Thanks for your content!
Bro!! Love Muse. They were my favorite band for like a decade, grew up listening to Black Holes & Revelations and Origins of Symmetry. Often their new stuff is meh, but man their original sound and how it still can ring through is impeccable. Bellamy for Prez!
If you read this, you'll recognize Knights of Cydonia and Uprising immediately (stadium favorites, used across multiple movie tracks, etc). My favorites are from their first few albums: City of Delusion, Thoughts of a Dying Atheist, The Small Print, Sing for Absolution, Plug in Baby. Great stuff from more recent albums would be I Belong to You, Supremacy and Panic Station. Happy listening!
Guitar distortion is a normal staple of (sometimes adult contemporary) rock, metal, and metalcore genres....and putting fuzz distortion on bass is also a different vibe that sometimes an artist will do....
Anything from Muse at Rome Olympic Stadium is absolutely worth checking out! But, if you say the singer at this concert had a light-up jacket, then something live Simulation Theory(2019) tour or the Drones(2016) World Tour might trigger your memory. I would try first, if you can find it, a video of The Handler (by Muse) from Drones World Tour. Not only is that a killer song but his jacket is in full effect for that song. That is a core memory for me, watching The Handler from Drones World Tour.
They’re so popular that Family Guy recently made a joke about how the only way to listen to Muse is “basically as close as you are allowed to get” They are one of those bands where if you don’t know them, you don’t know them; but if you know them, you know, and you understand
Loving your "trying white music" series. I get a kick seeing you react to songs I basically grew up with, whether you like them or not. One band I'd like to see you react to is one of my favorite bands Manic Street Preachers. Nobody ever reacts to them cause they're fairly unknown in North America. If you see this, can you please react to "Faster" by Manic Street Preachers.
ahhhhh, so you've made it to MUSE. HUGE fan, one of my favorite rock groups going. absolutely slap, and have lots of power to their songs. excellent choice! I'd also recommend doing more Coheed and Cambria
Love the series, and I have a suggestion for you. Pisces by the band Jinjer. But it has to be the live sessions video here on TH-cam. Every member of that band is a master of their trade.
Definitely listen to more Muse! You should check out Time Is Running Out and Resistance! They're my faves, along with Hysteria. I also recommend Supermassive Blackhole and Starlight. Hope you enjoy! :)

Gotta love that bassline
I saw muse live years ago, they are fantastic live.
Butterflies and Hurricanes is my fav song of theirs and they’re my fav band. Good call!
I feel like Rob really needs to listen to "Butterflies and Hurricanes", because it feels up his alley.
Really a diverse discography, from beautiful to super aggressive and angry. Very cool!
My daughter loves them. First concert she ever saw..
Definitely in my top 3, maybe even top 1 favourite basslines of all time. Chris (the bassist) is a BEAST on the song; that line goes for pretty much the entire duration of the song and he'll play it EVERY gig for an entire tour.
That distortion kinda sound is iconic Muse.
My favorite Muse song for sure. Glad you're back
This story is cheesy af, but I went to a music festival back in '07 where MUSE played right before Rage Against the Machine and that day changed my life, I knew I wanted to work in music. I've now been working in live events/concerts/festivals for 15 years. I'm glad you jumping into Muse, hopefully you'll be back with more from them.
This is a feel good song. Matt Bellamy is the lead singer. Seen this band live on a couple of occasions now and there fantastic live 😎
MUSE is my favorite band, going on 20 years now ❤️🔥
That distortion sound is the Bass bro!
If you do more Muse reaction (which you def should) please react to them live. There are and have been voted best live act many times.
Okay you might also want to listen to Plug In Baby, then. The opening guitar riff was voted by Total Guitar magazine readers as one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time.
One of the best rock bass lines ever, hands down.
@RobTV
Funny you should mention this would be a good fight scene since their first mainstream exposure came from their song "Supermassive Black Hole" on the Twilight movie.
This is definitely a feel good tune...great for a workout.
Just saw them at the o2 arena, the sheer joy there was overwhelming, three weeks ago and I'm still buzzing.
Muse is solid when looking for a change of pace from the heavier stuff. Can’t go wrong with the following:
Dead Inside
Uprising
Panic Station
Supermassive Black Hole
also plug-in Baby
Honestly their entire albums are enjoyable and I’m not even a mega fan or a whole-album kind of guy
@@MovieMutant Hell yeah, Plug-in Baby's intro was straight up wanting to learn how to play guitar
You need to listen to Uprising, and read the lyrics-- i promise
Thank you for mentioning Dead Inside and Panic Station haha underrated but I love both.
Awesome, Rob! Love your enthusiasm, man, it is infectious!
So even though they sound HUGE, they’re a 3 piece. Matt Bellamy is the lead singer and guitarist.
Knights of Cydonia by Muse is on a whole other level
I can't believe that so many people doesnt know Muse, it's such an amazing band ❤
MUSE 🤘 absolutely love this band, seen them about a dozen times by now. Best live band.
I'm so glad that you listened to this song!! Their song "Psycho" is intense!! You should check that one out!
Bro, love your vids, would love to see a vid of you summarising all of the songs and bands that have affected you the most
A Muse concert is an EVENT… you may have to go see them to get what I’m saying
Great channel! I'd forgotten how good this song is. I saw Muse several times about fifteen years ago and they were great. A lot of the songs from their first four or five albums are excellent - very dramatic and epic!
Never met anyone in my whole life who doesn’t love Muse once introduced to it.
If you like that song, listen to the whole album. You will love it.
Muse is so good!! One of the best band! Totally underestimated! So musical!
Had the privalage of seeing them in April, such an incredible band!
The video live was in Versailles, France, for Live 8, i was there, was my first time seeing Muse, and fck man , i was crying , was beautiful !!
I refresh TH-cam constantly to see what you've listened to next. Thank you for still giving us content to watch after a long day of work when you yourself bust your ass and still provide. Thanks man
Muse the the only band ive ever heard that sound EXACTLY the same live as they do on the album... they are THAT good live.
Muse is amazing. Europe already knows, they're huge there. America loves them too tho. One of my favorite bands
They’re so popular that Family Guy recently made a joke about how the only way to listen to Muse is “basically as close as you are allowed to get”
They are one of those bands where if you don’t know them, you don’t know them; but if you know them, you know, and you understand
Absolute 👍
Hall Of Fame opening bass line!
This band has been my favorite since 2002. They are incredibly talented guys.
This is the greatest band live. Matt also plays piano. ❤
Definitely listen to more Muse! You should check out Time Is Running Out and Resistance! They're my faves, along with Hysteria. I also recommend Supermassive Blackhole and Starlight. Hope you enjoy! :)
Check out their song "Knights of Cydonia!" That one is epic. And yes, "Hysteria" was a big hit song!
Theres so much more muse that i would love to see you cover, Knights of cydonia, Dead inside, Bliss, THE GROOVE, Sunburn, butterflies and Hurricanes, city of delision sooo much more they have an amazing range, matt also gets so much inspiration from tom morello
This band is so much older than I thought. I saw a poster for them in the movie "12 Monkey's" with Bruce Willis from 1995.
I know you normally dont react to music from the 70s but More Than a Feeling by Boston is an amazing song. The whole first album is fire and has a pretty cool backstory. Would love to see you react to that! Love your videos man.
Knights of Cydonia will blow your mind, Mathew Bellamy is the main singer/guitarist/keyboardist and a fan of Tom Morello
I wish I could go back and hear this song again for the first time. I remember my teenage self being blown away.
