He was implying at one point that he was close to reaching a deal with AEW, but if I was Tony Khan at this point I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. Book's a company man, Ryback ain't a part of WWE no more he got no protection, so Book can scold him all he wants. JBL is part of the WWE, and still is, but he did way more heinous shit than Ryback can ever count, when Book mentioned he wouldn't hide under a rock and he would always be ready to tackle a bad situation, he ignored JBL and just let him abuse his power over young stars, he even calls him a good friend.
