      I think that's the biggest thing that makes this all really messed up... these are EVPs of a company doing this. Imagine if these were EVPs of any other company that got into a brawl with an employee. Then after a suspension, they come back to work and are immediately taunting an ex employee? That wouldn't stand for even a moment in a half professional environment. So that definitely goes to show just how immensely unprofessional AEW management really is.

    The reason I thought it was silly was largely the events that surrounded and led to it. I get why they did it but it was cheap heat that they didn’t need. They were gonna get booed in Chicago either way, they didn’t need to double down like they did to get booed. But the difference for me is how this was handled prior to this.
    Tony refused to ever acknowledge it or address it. He kept everything hidden about what happened and what the company was doing. He stripped the belts off of them and never gave a reason why. He spent an hour on Helwani refusing to answer anything even remotely relating to it. Added to that you have Kenny the same day say that everybody should move on and they’ll never discuss it. Ok I disagree but I can understand why you wanna approach it that way.
    Then after all of that they do this on their show. It made Tony look like a joke and all the narraticr about the elite getting their way seem accurate. And it seems since Punk won’t be coming back there’s never going to be a payoff for it. It would still be silly if they’d handled this different but the fact they basically refused to ever even talk about it only for the elite to do this just made them look like idiots.

    I'm with Brad here. He fn gets it 👏 👏 it's obvious that Kenny Omega wants to capitalize on the chaos from All Out and keep this alive in the minds of the fans long enough to build it into a proper feud with CM Punk, once he's back at 100%. In fact, it's entirely possible that they've all come to an agreement already and the Elite will continue to build off the heat they receive for taking shots at CM Punk right up until he returns. Fans in this comment section don't seem to understand how this works. There's BIG MONEY 💰 to be made from Omega vs Punk at, let's say, Double or Nothing next year. Omega could potentially be in a world title match against MJF and right before the finish 🤔 Punk shockingly returns and screws Omega out of the win, firing back after months of shots being taken at him and they can finally begin their feud, building up to the anniversary of All Out next year. Everything would come full circle and THEN the parties involved could start moving on from things in AEW, if they so choose. Anything before then would just be nonsense and a waste of perfectly good opportunity for spicy content between Punk and the Elite. Everyone knows that Omega loves long-term storytelling and the payoff is almost always a huge deal. Just my humble opinion 🤷

      I’d be SHOCKED if Omega and the Bucks were actually thinking about any sort of booking involving Punk coming back and having any influence on “their” company again.
      Not saying you’re wrong.
      If it comes to be true, this could be one of the best angles that AEW has ever put on their show…
      But I have very little to no faith in ‘The Elite’ pulling something like that off.
      Sorry man.

      @@AdrianBeegoatz prepare to be shocked then, mate. There's little chance that Omega would be doing anything that he's been doing if TK hadn't already signed off on it and all parties involved hadn't come to an agreement yet.
      As for the storytelling aspect, it would have virtually nothing to do with the Young Bucks. This appears to be an Omega vs Punk kinda deal (as it's one of those dream match-ups that's been discussed since before Punk signed with AEW). The main problem is that Punk seems to be injury prone and has a long road to recovery before such a match could ever be possible. Even then, Omega is finally back at 100% health (evidenced by his scheduled return to NJPW next year at Wrestle Kingdom against Will Ospreay) while Punk might never be back at 100% health. THAT would be most shocking to me, if Punk returned better than ever.
      Because let's be honest...if Punk can't return at 100% health in AEW to finish the things he promised to do when he became #AllElite then there's little to no point in him returning to pro wrestling period, despite many fans expecting him to dip out on AEW to return to WWE instead.
      Huge draw or not, who wants to watch Punk go 0 for 3 when he returns only to get reinjured the next time he begins another feud or has another title match? This is why it makes the most sense that the storyline plays out between him and the Elite (aka Omega) because Omega no doubt understands that the matter remains unresolved in the eyes of most fans (evidenced by the contrasting reactions at different venues) and long-term storytelling is something that Omega is known for. I imagine that he and Punk have probably worked something out and seek to do right by the fans, doing the professional thing vs allowing their personal feelings to get in the way of making more money (something that has always mattered to Punk tbh).

    • @Gravey_draws
      @Gravey_draws 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      If what you are saying is true, this would probably be the greatest work of all time....I just don't think any of the parties involved are that smart to have come up with this from the start. To me if this happens is more to do with them seeing what fans like you have put out as an idea after the fact, and them doing business and capitalizing on it. A feud with Punk and Omega would've been great, but Kenny is attached to the Bucks and those guys bring him down to look childish.

    • @empower5228
      @empower5228 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Gravey_draws well, as they say in pro wrestling, "never say never" 🤷‍♂️ there's plenty of time to go still before Punk will even be cleared to wrestle, more or less decide whether he's returning to AEW or having his contract bought out. In any case, Omega appears to be acting independently from the Young Bucks with regards to the jabs at Punk so I can only speculate that he's either in on it with Punk already (ahead of his eventual return) or Omega is hoping that Punk is watching and seeing the fan reactions (banking on the amount of money and attention their feud would garner ultimately). I'm just trying to be optimistic since Omega and Punk tend to lean towards what's most practical and lucrative, and they love their fans, so it's entirely plausible that Omega is testing the waters and this is all a massive work that will lead up to one of the greatest feuds of all time imo!

    Daniel Bryan. When Rey Mysterio was announced to come out as #30, WWE didn't address what the fans wanted, didn't acknowledge it and Rey got booed out of the building when it wasn't his fault.
    Booker is saying that it's not about "the fans want it". This was a shoot. Handle it behind the scenes. I agree with that.
    Matt Hardy/Edge/Lita. That was a shoot. WWE turned it into an angle. Did that really do anything for any of the three of them? Not really. If anything it made WWE look shady for using that.

    AEW is an example of how having creative input can be a bad thing if it goes too far while Vince WWE was an example of how bad having control and no input can be. The right mix is somewhere between extremes. But in AEW they seem to get almost complete control to do what they want whether it makes sense or doesn’t without any real filter about what gets on TV and doesn’t. I know Tony says that he books things but the issue is he isn’t an educated filter. If Tony took advice from the veterans he has in his company things could be a lot better. But we’ve seen multiple times where he brushes off the veteran opinions which has resulted in what their product currently is.

    There are actually quite a few wrestlers out there that would No Doubt put these guys in their place but those type of workers don't get jobs because they're considered to be too much heat or too much drama or whatever. They all wanted to be some like everybody loves everybody situation when it should boil down to just having the best employees that you can possibly have and them doing the work that they're given, not so much what they want to do or think they need to do. In reality most people aren't going to be able to promote themselves the way they might think it needs to be done it's not always about your input it's like a restaurant owner trying to have an opinion about the food when it has nothing to do with the owners opinion of the food it's the customer's opinion of the food that actually matters. And this business venture has none of that

  • @rich6248

    Brad actually doesn't get it & he's not experienced enough/ too self-righteous to learn from Booker. Booker summed it up when he said that they (AEW) could theoretically be out of business in a few years and that this incident could be what people point to as indicative of the behavior that pushed AEW down that path. For those of us who have been fans for a long time, we have seen our share of WWE competitors crash & burn. How is the Elite's behavior that much different than what occurred at WCW? Sure, the WCW boys can point to their 83 week win streak, but nothing else. Sadly, that is where AEW is at the moment. It's easy to play big with someone else's money. As Vince preached ages ago ... it's what good for business ... that matters.

    I don't think they ever thought about this whole situation as performers; this is their m.o. for years regarding the wrestling world - it's always about themselves and their merch and their antics. They went out there to take a shot at CM Punk "because the crowd will boo us out of the building and we don't like it so let's make them have a reason to boo us". Do you think if people were chanting "f*** Punk" in unison they wouldn't do the same thing because they would think they had a "free pass" to do it just to please the crowd? That would be the excuse then.
    It was a personal shot at Punk, based on zero business sense. They were the attraction in Japan because they were the outsiders and weren't like the rest of the wrestlers based in strong style; in the USA, they are just indy wrestlers with a corporate machine supporting their style of niche wrestling that they never try to move away from. The only major company where they were relevant in the USA has been AEW and only because they are part of management. In TNA the were up-and-comers that blew it just because they thought they would be big shots in ROH and one of them was a one-time jobber in WWE; and Kenny Omega was nowhere to be found in the US scene at that time. That should tell you something about these three and how big of a "threat" Punk was to them. And I'm not even going to get started on having Cody as a "partner" that suddenly decided to abandon the "dream" he helped create to go back to the place from where he felt he needed to leave in the first place for being severely misused.

There's never been a storyline in mainstream wrestling that's been this complex since Bret and Shawn which wasn't actually a storyline. Why? Because nobody actually benefits from it. Not even The Elite, Punk, or Tony. Getting a couple of people to mark out doesn't actually change anything or move any needles.
