Thanks so much for following along on our journey around the world and hope everyone has a fantastic 2022. We wanted to share our 2022 travel plans with everyone and and a change we have planned for our channel. John and Bev
If I can offer my suggestion here out of experience, you may want to stick to one place for at least a month. You may get tired and exhausted quickly if you spend only 1 week in each place. I like to rent a Airbnb for a month and do some day trips around for exemple. Btw I recommend Switzerland. It’s not for its cities but you will see the most awesome landscapes and villages. Restaurants are to expensive though and renting a flat and going to supermarkets are a good idea.
Your enthusiasm and energy is great and will take you a long way to realizing your travel dreams!! We are so glad to hear that you will be vlogging, and we will follow you as you go. My husband and I have been traveling home-free since we retired in 2016. We have lived in about 100 airbnbs in mostly European countries staying about 1 month in each place that is ideal for us. Our 2022 plans are to branch out beyond Europe to see more of the world. Our travel philosophy is to follow our hearts and are not "country counters". We often revisit places we love and to visit friends we have made along the way. We are ages 61 and 68 with no plans to stop traveling any time soon.
@@beverlyschrenger2409 Thanks so much for the comment and good luck with your travels this year. After Europe this year, we plan on New Zealand, Australia and some Southeast Asia early next spring. We love your philosophy and please stay in touch. Perhaps our paths will cross one day! John and Bev
Great idea to travel while you are "youngish" . We did the same at your age and saw wonderful things. At 70+ we couldn't do it now. So relish it while you can.
Thanks so much for the note. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. We heard this same, wise advise from several of our older friends, so we decided to sell everything and travel the world. Hope you can follow along on our journey. Thanks again, John and Bev
It has been so neat to go back and watch your older videos I haven't seen before. You are truly an inspiration to my wife and me. We are about 7 years from early retirement. Our wanderlust increases more and more when we watch your videos.

Thanks and we do like surprises. Thanks for following along on our journey and we hope to keep getting better and having fun. Should be some great places to visit this year. Be safe and have a great year. John and Bev
I've been to Italy twice, and I would say the most beautiful place in the world to me, was sitting up high in benches at the Greek & Roman Theatre in Taormina, Sicily. It was magical. Sitting there on a beautiful, sunny afternoon, with the sun sparkling on the Mediterranean, and Mt. Etna steaming in the background, with the vapour, blending into the clouds. I felt like I had lived there in another life. Please make sure you visit Taormina. It has little alleys that lead to small cafes', tucked in behind buildings. Hotels that cling impossibly to the side of the cliffs out over the sea, Gondola's that bring sunbathers up and down the cliffs from the beach, Cobblestone streets, and a little square in the center of town, where people come to sit and talk with the neighbours. You'll love it!
We can’t wait!!! In fact, we’re determined to do an entire vlog from Taormina using your most beautifully written description. Stay tuned (next December)! Thank you for inspiring us!!! ❤️
Hi John & Bev! My husband and I are planning a move to Panama by the end f the year, and you are so inspiring. I am not in great health, and I'm hoping the life on the beach will improve my condition. At the very least I want to have one big adventure before I die. Something from our bucket list! I never dreamed I would ever consider leaving Canada, but we are ready for an adventure, and change. Thank you so much for being so encouraging, and showing us so much of the world. I am so lucky to have a husband who is up for this too!
Good luck to you for 2022! I just retired on 12/31/2021 and am also leaving on a trip around the world this year! I'll be following along with you too! I'll be first in Asia and then in Europe and the Balkans.
Congrats on your retirement and have fun on your trip. You are going to some wonderful places. How exciting!!! Keep us posted on your travels and thanks for following along. John and Bev
Loved, loved hearing your plans! We're so looking forward to hopefully meeting up while you're in Italy!! Do not, I mean do not miss the Dolomites!! Wow, 2022 is going to be your year! Sounds like you have some epic travels coming up. I am glad you are able to get through these countries no problem, and you don't have to self-isolate - that would really effect your timeline. Super happy that you are going to be posting a couple times a week as I always look forward to your most recent adventures!
Thanks so much for being such a great supporter of our channel. It is much appreciated. We are really looking forward to 2022 travel and hopefully staying healthy all year. Hope you have an awesome year as well. John and Bev
Loved the check-in update! Can't wait to see all your adventures! That sounds like a lot of video editing, but you do such a wonderful job and it has to be getting easier, right?! Here's to new adventures for all of us in 2022! 🥂
Thanks so much for following along. Yes, new adventures in 2022!!! 🥂 Good luck with the bookings and hope you have an amazing first year with the lodge! John and Bev
One of the things you guys don't talk about is finances. Is there a budget of any sort? Would love to know how much it would cost what one should budget for accommodations - food - transportation in each different country/ location. My wife and I are looking at traveling once we retire within a couple of years we are 59yrs old presently. We are trying to figure out what we should budget our traveling for, currently we travel 3 times a year until covid hit. But want to travel 3-4 months from Jan. to End of March/ April come back home to Canada and travel for a month or two in Sept-Nov. and come back home for Christmas. For the most part a month or two at each location/ country. So technically we could be travelling up to 3-5 countries in a year. Which works out to 30-50 countries over a period of 10 years. Do you think $7500Cdn which works out to $6000USD month is realistic? I'm thinking that the quick travel and new countries that your visiting on a speed travel must be costing 2 or 3 times that amount so somewhere in $12-18K/ per month. Anyway we enjoy watching your travels keep having fun and continued healthy and safe adventures!
Thanks for the great question Tony. We have a couple of earlier videos on early retirement and downsizing that you might find helpful. Sounds like you have a awesome plan to retire and see the world. We think $6000/month is realistic but there are so many variables. We like to explore the less expensive countries as well and that helps keep the overall expenses down. The biggest thing that we did was the extreme downsizing. We are saving a bunch of money on not owning a home, no taxes, no insurance, no cars, etc and spend that money on travel experiences. Regarding our fast travel, we keep Airbnb lodging to average $100/night, eat 1 meal out a day and use public transportation as much as possible, which keeps our costs down. Obviously, going to Dubai for the World Expo was a budget buster, but a once in a lifetime opportunity. We think we can make up some ground in most of the Balkan countries this summer, but we’ll see. Keep us posted on your retirement progress and have a great 2022. John and Bev
Very positive, upbeat and informative set of videos. It would be helpful to have a video covering times when your plans did not work out very well ( problems with locals, AirBnB issues, sickness etc.) I have downloaded all of the travel apps that you mentioned in another video. Thank you and keep travelling. You guys rock!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Great idea on covering things that haven’t gone well. We will incorporate into an upcoming video. John and Bev
While in Italy, if you’re in Verona, please put a letter in the wall under Juliet balcony for me, Wendy. Please, tell the secretaries of Juliet that I will be there one day and I would love to spend an afternoon answering letters with them!
You really inspired us! You’re such a wonderful couple and wish that we can do travelling when we retire. Europe is our favourite retirement destination. God bless you both!
Thanks so much and we hope you have a wonderful retirement filled with many travel adventures. We hope you can follow along on our journey and good luck for a speedy retirement. Many blessings to you in 2022. John and Bev
New subscriber here - looking forward to the next 99 vlogs this year! Would love to learn more about your preparation leading up to your global launch. I’ve watched some of your past videos, but would like to hear details on the “behind the scenes” stuff like health insurance, travel planning tips, etc. Best wishes!
Thanks for subscribing and great suggestion. There are many “behind the scenes” stuff that we could include in the videos. We are trying to decide the best format, but we really appreciate your feedback. Have a great 2022. John and Bev
@@RetirementTravelers we are still planning… doing a travel plan video sometime in a few weeks. I was amazed at how you had memorized that very long itinerary!! 😯
We enjoy following along on your travels and look forward to more videos. We hope to do the same sometime soon. Personal question....We are concerned that if we sell our home we may regret not having a place for everyone to gather over holidays....how did you feel about that? Did it feel odd? Cheers
Thanks and great question. Those thoughts did enter our minds, but extreme downsizing was the best thing we could have done. It just didn’t make sense for us to hang on to something for possibly one visit a year! Our kids all have their own homes and live across the country, so getting everyone together is difficult. It is cheaper for us to just rent a large Airbnb once a year someplace nice that owning a home year round. If you want more info on the topic, send us a private message on Instagram. Thanks again for the great question. John and Bev
You went to?? Did you take the trailer or fly out of the country??? You kinda went from buying a trailer and traveling the U.S. to going to Central America 🤷🏼♀️
Our plan has always been to travel the world, but Covid delayed us for a couple of years. We bought an Airstream in 2020 and went to all 50 states in 18 months! We sold our home and RV this past year and plan to travel the world for 10 years. Hope you can follow along on our journey. Have a great 2022. John and Bev
Gollies. 2022 has come and gone--don't know if you met your video-making goal--we'll n-e-v-e-r catch up! But never, never, never think your videos are not enough. We've enjoyed every single minute of every single one. But I'm confused. It was called Dubai 2020 expo and it ended at the end of 2021? How long did the expo run?
Thanks so much for the kind words. Most people don't realize how much time and effort go into making quality videos!!! We need to hear it from kind viewers like yourself every now and then. So thank you. The Dubai 2020 Expo was delayed 12 months due to the pandemic. It actually ran from Oct 2021 to Mar 2022. It was fabulous. We plan to attend the next one in Osaka, Japan during the summer of 2025. Thanks again, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
John and Bev, first let us say, WE MISS YOU! Your 2022 plans sound incredible! I assume that you'll be up near family for your states stop, so we won't get to see you, but we need to catch up soon! We've been to one place out of your upcoming travels- ITALY! We have an amazing tour guide that I'll send you on Instagram that made our stay on the Amalfi Coast really special. I commend you for your goal of 2 videos per week- Wow! So inspirational. You two are going to crush 2022. Big hugs! PS Was your 7th grandchild a boy or a girl?? Inquiring minds need to know! ❤️
Thanks and we miss you guys as well. We will be going on a cruise in March out of FLL so we may be able to schedule a short visit on our way there! Will send details. Hugs, John and Bev
Oh my gosh, I'm like the Riddler with nothing but questions I have for you nice people. First of all, I'm just breathless at all the traveling you've already done. Comparison is the thief of joy, but I definitely feel like I gotta get a move on. I'm curious when you're heading to new countries what sites you like to use to plan where you'll go and see and how to get around.
Nothing really special. We will google best things to do and see, how to best get from one city to another, watch some TH-cam videos and think about the type of content we want to show in our videos. We then book it and go and experience. We don't overthink it. John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
We don’t share personal financial info, but it was sufficient for a normal retirement. Selling everything enabled us to live this lifestyle. John and Bev
@@RetirementTravelers Awesome I can respect that but I’d like to recommend you possibly consider adding numbers and metrics into your videos and that could definitely help grow your audience. Personally I believe talking about money is only a good thing because the more you know the more you grow. 1. Transparency with finances is super inspiring for young people like me to see where I could be one day 2. Utilizing numbers and metrics could draw in an entirely new audience to your videos! Thanks for reading. Hope I don’t offend. Love your videos and mentality. Keep it up!
@@MarcusJonesRE No offense taken at all. We do think the rule of 25 is a good rule of thumb. Also, things changed for us when we sold our house and all possessions.

Sounds exciting. It is good to have plans like jello, plenty of wiggle room. Two a week is good for us.
Thanks. We are looking forward to 2022 travels. Thanks for following along. John and Bev
One of the things you guys don't talk about is finances. Is there a budget of any sort? Would love to know how much it would cost what one should budget for
accommodations - food - transportation in each different country/ location.
Very inspiring .. can't wait for vlogging video's 🥴
Thanks for following along. Hope you guys have an awesome 2022. John and Bev
While in Italy, if you’re in Verona, please put a letter in the wall under Juliet balcony for me, Wendy. Please, tell the secretaries of Juliet that I will be there one day and I would love to spend an afternoon answering letters with them!
We didn’t make it to Verona this trip, but great idea! Thanks for the note. John and Bev
The most beautiful retirement travelers I ever meet. ❤️😘😍👍
Thank you so much. Hope you can follow along on our journey around the world! ❤️ John and Bev
John and Bev
good night,Like it- beautiful , lal the best.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. John and Bev
So excited to hear your update!!!
Thanks. Lots of planning went into this year!!!
@@RetirementTravelers we are still planning… doing a travel plan video sometime in a few weeks. I was amazed at how you had memorized that very long itinerary!! 😯
Amazing what you can do after planning so much. John memorized all 51 US National Parks in the lower 48 for our RV questions video!
@@RetirementTravelers yeah, I do not have his abilities!😂
You are such an inspiration!!! 😉
Thanks so much. Hope you are enjoying the journey around the world with us. Have a great day. John and Bev
@@RetirementTravelers Thanks. You had very good points that apply to my family as well. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Safe travels.
Love your channel
Thanks so much. It is always good to hear. Glad you are enjoying it.
Thanks again,
John and Bev

@@RetirementTravelers YES!! We will make ourselves available, and can easily drive down there.
PS #6 in Nov was a girl, #7 in March will be a boy, #8 is ?? this summer
YES!!! N&H got their girl!! Such a great family 😃

@@RetirementTravelers thank you!! I definitely always overthink it so I'm happy to see it doesn't have to be as difficult as I try to make things. lol
What was your nest egg before retiring?
We don’t share personal financial info, but it was sufficient for a normal retirement. Selling everything enabled us to live this lifestyle. John and Bev
@@RetirementTravelers
Awesome I can respect that but I’d like to recommend you possibly consider adding numbers and metrics into your videos and that could definitely help grow your audience. Personally I believe talking about money is only a good thing because the more you know the more you grow.
1. Transparency with finances is super inspiring for young people like me to see where I could be one day
It opened up so many new opportunities. My advice for you is to save all you can, stay out of debt, and live within your means. Thanks again and best of luck to you, John and Bev
Do you often stay in a hotel ?
Occasionally stay in hotels. Location near airport, travel points, short stays, bargains, etc would be other reasons. John and Bev
How do you handle your mail?
We used Good Sam mail service for the first year, now we have it sent to a relative. John and Bev
