I finally went out for a cruise on Benji! It was so lovely, and I'm still amazed at how smoothly she went considering she hadn't been moved properly for over 10 years! I didn't add any music this time, so you can enjoy the sound of the water and motor!

Benjamin is an English narrow boat made in 1998 and was brought over to France about 18 years ago. It ended up in a little port in Burgundy, France that my parents run. Sadly the owner passed away, and the boat was basically abandoned. In 2019, we bought it and have been doing it up ever since!

I love the French canals, especially the Canal De MIDI, so picturesque and from what I’ve seen mostly lock keepers to help boaters through locks. Thanks for a lovely vlog, I’ve only just found your channel. X

What lovely scenery you have..
Ive only travelled once abroad for a holiday with friends to canary island.
Was not very impressed.
Give me a boat on a river or canal with lovely scenery anytime.
I'm hoping to buy a 60ft widebeam in about 8 years time here in uk to enjoy the rivers and canals..

@@jimmineweaser3300 there are two ways! First you can be very brave and sail it over!! Second you can put it on a truck and take it over in a ferry 😊😊 I would love to do the fist way but will actually do the second 😂😂👍🏼

Nice cruise Lizzie, we were looking at Auxerre as a winter port since they have a Linssen distributor there, how would you rate the town / amenities as a live aboard? we read a lot of French news papers online to try to pick a place, and security seems to be a daily topic.. Thank you
Auxerre is a lovely place to moor, it has water and electrics, a large supermarket about 5 mins walk and the town it’s self is lovely with a great view of the abbey and cathedral from the port. I would highly recommend! I’ve felt very safe living there as there is a lovely boating community with about 8 other live aboard’s

On an early video it was purchased in France at its home port after being left unused and unloved for several years by the owner who had sadly passed away.

Six months absence is a long time, I hope everything is okay.
Given that we have 1000 immigrants crossing the channel in rubber dinghy's everyday, I assume crossing the channel in a narrowboat is possible. But is it legal?
Yes it is; however the crossing is not insurable unless you are insured through the presence of a skipper & over-the-canal shipping. I believe you also need to have VHR.
