The rules says Ventures board are for a full game only. So stopping the game in the first era will ofcourse cripple the game 😊

One of my favorite games, looking forward to trying ventures. We normally play it with 3 players.

Think it's fantastic, playable... fun and sometimes just mind blowing

Thanks for the review! How would you compare Space Corp to Space Empires 4x?

Completely different games. In the same way chess and monopoly are different. SC is a card playing movement/racing game. SE4X is a hardcore economic/wargame, much longer and requires a spreadsheet to manage fleets.

My only complaint with this expansion is that really you get the advertised 14 new corps only if you have 3-4 players, but there's actually just 9 new corps if you have 2p (even the 1p game has more options than that, there are 10 new soloable corps) - that's a bit disappointing if one can only get 2p together on a regular basis. But that aside the corps are pretty interesting.

I love the new companies and all but I think the expansion also solves the only 2 complaints that I had with the base game. First (and maybe this is just our group) but the way the new corps work really makes the empathy adaptation less "over powered" than it used to be. Before it seemed like you needed empathy to win. The second bit is a lot of the companies make you draw start cards so they don't just clog up the offers once the better, non start cards are on top of the deck. Both are great fixes to minor problems.

Just played Ventures for the second time yesterday and I must say, I would never go Vanilla again.

I played SpaceCorps quite a few times when it was released and thought i remembered it had a small amount of deckbuilding. When i re-read the rules in preparation for Ventures, i did not see the deckbuilding part.
I have put it down to that pesky Mandela effect…

That's not really the Mandela effect. In order to qualify as Mandela Effect, the "false memory" has to be shared among many people.

Could also be you have gotten more into the hobby and now have better language. Previously, you put pulling cards to add to your deck/hand as deckbuilding. So your memory tacked on your own bias.

Ah the expansion was off my radar, but now you guys have reintroduced. Does the base game really need the added asymmetry that badly?

If you like and enjoy it, no. But having played with it there's zero reason to revert to vanilla. It only adds. It does not detract.
