We just bought the exact same car!!! Sport model, manual, Grey out black in!!! It's gonna be with us in the next couple days, i am so excited!!! This is my future car and i love Mazda and manual!!!
hello can you please give a feedback about the car?
No talk, all action. I like it!
me too!!!
Thanks for picking the perfect version of a car I've been waiting to see. The sport manual.
Most gorgeous car I've seen in a while
Honda still offers a manual in the Accord, it is just matter of taste, Americans don't drive manuals, and most new drivers don't learn how to drive a manual (shame), but that's mostly the US, go to South America, Africa and Europe and most people drive manuals, however you see it manual transmissions are still the best on car control and also the most fun...
i saw this car in person today on the road and god oh god it looks amazing!!!
2014 Mazda 6 or 3 sedan will be my next car. Trading in my 2007 Mazda 3i touring sedan.
what a sexy car. i like how the video was shot too, nice angles
Love the look of it, just beautiful. while the shape of the dash is reminiscent of an E90 3-series, I still like the interior. Pending a test drive, make mine a Touring with the six speed manual.
If you are new to Winding Road's channel, I highly recommend you subscribe. All of the driving videos on the channel are awesome Chris, the guy that makes the videos gets access to so very cool cars, too.
All of the videos are very artful in a way that car guys will appreciate- very cool camera shots and nothing but the natural sounds of the cars themselves- kind of like being one with the machines being driven.
test drove the 6 today, touring, and it is a great machine! it's a lot roomier than i expected both in the front and back seat. i also tested the 2014 mazda 3. Great car as well, but i prefer the extra room. Both still have the "zoom zoom". I can't wait to get my pearl white 6. Mazda needs to build more white! I can't wait for it to ship! >:(
crazybeartimba seems like Mazda doesn't even bother with a black interior on all their red 6's; not a fan of the beige color inside... idk why...
I am considering a Mazda 6 for my next car. Prior to watching this, I was actually thinking of buying one with the automatic transmission- my first automatic transmission in 20 years.
After watching this, I am thinking I may have to order a Mazda 6 Touring with the manual transmission- that drive really looked like a lot of fun.
I have a 2008 Mazda 6i and it is a grat car! Recently test drove a 2014 Mazda6 sport with a 6 spd and its is a blast to drive. the one I test drove was Red....Fantastic car!!
I TOTALLY get your point, but with all due respect, I don't think you can't generalize Mazda manual trannys. For example, My Gen 2 Mazdaspeed3 has a completely different clutch feel than the Gen 1. I've heard many Gen 1 owners complain about the Gen 2's unforgiving nature and extremely small bite zone.
the best POV ever! he included mini drag
noise level is very high comparing to Accord.
Love your review always~ thanx
This is a great video! I like the perspective.
I am just super excited to see a family sedan with a manual transmission. It just seems more, normal to me. Granted my mom drove a manual 1988 Hyundai Excel when I was little lol
Its great that you show top revs at 70mph . include that in all your videos !
Good looking car!
Happy revving engine! Glad you tested the bone stock stick model! I wish the touring model was also available in manual...
I have my deposit for the 2.2 diesel coming in fall....can't wait to unload this versa I got
I'm pretty sure it's just normal gear noise. All transmissions make some gear noise, but some are louder than others due to factors like how the gears are cut and the ratio between the input and output gears. Also, a quieter engine makes transmission noise more noticeable.
Great drive and demo for prospective buyers thanks!!
Go Grand Touring and get it fully loaded. That trim level's wheels look better and you get both fog lights and Xenon headlights. The car's front end is stunning.
So torn between this and the Accord Sport manual
ended up with a Mazda. I'm a happy man.
Paras Kalra How the noise level on the highway?
a little wind noise but overall very good
Paras Kalra Thanks, what wheels do you have, 17 or 19s?
19s
This Is a cool type of review!
Real mature dude. Just wow!
I see a lot of torque steer and I like it.
Wow smooth braking there
Thanks. It's not available on the U.S. builder, but you're right. It's coming soon.
I love how upscale and expensive the new 6 looks, while still starting around $21k and offering a manual transmission. If I had the extra $$$ last year when I bought my first new car, it would have certainly been this.
Is that shaking normal from the engine?
I dont see how the one individual disliked this....
Awesome video. Thanks.
Impressive vehicle, especially considering it lists for under $21K. Seems to have plenty of zip and yet is rated 25/37 for mileage (no doubt only if you don't drive it all the time as in this video!). Handsome inside and out. I think Mazda might have a winner with this iteration of the 6.
I never thought I would call a Mazda "beautiful"....but here it is! I still wish it had more guts under the hood. I am torn between this and the Fusion.
Never knew the Mazda 6 had a manual transmission option!
I just got one, I like it.
you're wrong .... they never ever sold a mazda 6 with a 2 liter engine in the US .... always a 2.3 until 2009
Very nice car, I love it!!!
Nice car. How is the visibilt?
damn ! that car looks good.
What is the real mileage in the city?
Maybe it's the microphone, but it seems a lot of wind noise gets into the cabin =(
What's with all the whine in 1st gear?
Wow this feels just like the CX-5 video. Same Acceleration, sound, interior... All the mazdas are very similar. Kinda makes me feel like, just get the CX-5. You get more storage space, more personal space, similar MPG, SAME WEIGHT (yes it's true, look it up stock for stock) same engine, built in Hiroshima, beefier suspension. I can't see the advantage of getting a 6 apart from style. Maybe very slight improvement in handling and acceleration, I say very slight because the cx-5 is already that good. The one thing I will say, they offer a manual tranny on upper trims with the 3 and 6, but the manual is bone stock only on cx-5 which is annoying, but an understandable decision.
I also prefer the 8.5 inches of ground clearance in the CX 5 too
The insane amount of road noise comes standard on every Mazda. I found that out the hard way and only had mine for a year...drove me crazy!
so you had the previous model?
Most Japanese cars do, their metal is exceptionally thin, the Korean company KIA does a much better job with insulating against road noise!!
***** That is crazy. I've seen that some cars in AU are really expensive. Why is that? A Porsche is like 3 times the price there...
***** If I renew my cell contract I can get that phone for $449. :( But I know where you are coming from. But, if it's any consolation, you guys have an awesome accent!! Love it!
Touring is available with manual.
does this partical (sport) trim have iStop? (stopping the engine upon halt) thanks for info
Can 2nd gear reach 60? Does it feel "fast" I know it's no wrx or other sports car but can it get up to freeway speeds good?
This isn't 1982 anymore, most modern cars have a/c systems that aren't driven by the engine. I would especially hope so with the Skyactiv technology Mazda loves to brag about.
its model year, not production year ;p every model year is like 1 or 2 years plus than actual, it depends...
very noisy - when you compare to other cars is it louder at 100 mph ?
Not torn here, mazda is a go for me! No brainer;)
Nice exterior but the interior, particularly the dashboard, looks like something from the 90's.
Is it meteor gray or metropolitan gray color? Tnx
You better do AT model that has couple more features.
it has 184 horepower, thats plenty for a car in this class, considering that most of them have around 170 and are heavier..
Test drove one the other day, wasn't that impressed with it. People were saying that Mazda's electric steering system was "revolutionary", and that it was the sportiest offering from all the other midsize sedans out there, but I didn't get that impression at all. The steering was typical electric steering: loose, numb, devoid of feel. Engine felt slow and underpowered. Brakes were unrefined and noisy, and didn't have that initial "bite" I look for. The accelerator also didn't have that sporty responsiveness either. The Accord feels sportier and more premium to me, and the electric steering in the Accord is more precise and predictable. Granted interior of the 6 felt pretty damn nice (much nicer than it looks in pictures), but I wouldn't call this the "sportiest" in the class. Accord and Fusion are better cars for the money...even the Sonata urged me to drive fast and tackle corners more than the Mazda 6 did.
If this car came with a turbo or a V6, then it would mean something. Other than that, it's all looks for the Mazda 6, nothing much else really.
I also test drove a 2012 Mazda 3 with the 2.5 engine, which didn't feel sporty to me either. Felt pretty much the same as a Sentra or a Corolla, couldn't even tell it was the upgrade engine under the hood. Mazda seems a bit overrated in my opinion. They make good looking cars, but everything else seems to fall short.
bokkey45 probably going to be my next car (aiming for the Touring trim IF I can afford it); granted its performance may be below average, but its looks VERY nice (inside & out), feels a bit "premium" compared to most cars I test drove so far, and the fuel economy is WAY above average even in this day & age. Already betting in its favor in long term reliability SOLELY based on it being an Asian company so with all that said, I'm probably about to make a move on one at the first given opportunity...
And if I may, it seems that one doesn't necessarily need a V6 in order to get good power/performance. I currently have an 04 impala with around 2.5 liter V6 (whatever the base has) and its performance uphill is absolute SHIT; try to maintain around 75 mph uphill and not only will I fall below 65 on a steeper hill, but the check engine light will flash. That's how horrendous my V6 handles hills. A pretty fair share of 4 cylinders seem to have excellent acelleration. Pull out a little too close to traffic on a whim, you'll get up to speed in just a couple seconds!!!
Very good
Thanks for this vid. Now we know this isn't anywhere as good as a 2013 Accord or 320i
I love it
Turn signal works.
We are not graced with the presence of the estate in the US. For some idiotic reason, Americans don't buy estates anymore. I WANT ONE!
why is it called 2014 if it is already on roads and on sale ? btw this car is sexy and it knows it :P
They start model years around September or around the third quarter of the year because Japanese fiscal years start in October
Anyone know if the accord sport 6mt is faster?
mazda ftw
is he using a stick shift?
Exterior looks like the remix of a sonata
I'm only 21 and i wanna a car like this someday :3
Glen Toledo 22 and I'm about to make a move on one of these...
Im giving up on MustangV6 for this
this is a different car to an si, compare it more to an accord lx
1. Honda makes the best OEM manual transmissions.
2. You have no room to speak about what cars we should and should not drive in America.
No back up camera?
+Alex on all of them now, only on the GT then
Joseph Draper the bace have backup camera? It not even come with screen!
@Clorox Bleach
The Corolla 2014 has one, so I was just wondering why they didn't introduce one for this model.
this new Mazda 6 is so beautiful from outside...get in a V8 and forget the 2015 Mustang LOL
For a large sedan its so weak needs a V6 engine kinda like the chevy impala
Harris Anwar I own an 04 impala and its power isn't worth a damn... Going uphill is an almost scary experience in that thing. A couple 9th gen ones (much less LTZ/Limited editions) I test drove weren't much better either...
aaaha :) ty didn't know this
Good vid, great car! Mazda does an amazing job vs. giant companies like Toyota and Honda. I can excuse their almost fetishistic obsession with their design philosophy, and buzzword concept phrases, because they live up to it the vast majority of the time.
Great car but I would prefer accord more. I'm just that guy who wants a peace of mind over style.
The interior features look super outdated, no GPS/Navagation and or touch screen? That should come standard in all 2014+ vehicle.
Thats bc this is the bottom of the line model. The car is available with all those features
Zero8880 an accord base actually has a display LOL
Quite impressive being able to take a round about at 35MPH...
going to get mines next month
How is it?
4:09
Завтра белую такую заберу
It looks like a M.Benz CLA
O.O
sounds like the windows open...noisier..
Doing a 0-60 and driving aggressively with the A/C on? Come on man...
That drivetrain sounds so blah. At least it looks good.
U must be German or from somewhere where people actually give a dam about respecting speed limits, u know is really cheap to buy a radar detector, and the ticket for speeding over 200 MPH its no more then U$500,00, if u have money to pay for a 500 HP car u got enough to pay for a ticket
Very Quiet..hmm. Base sport. The car is great for the money..but (and this sport doesn't have one) without a decent NAV screen and fearures I just wouldn't buy it. Thats the downfall of this car. The features and technology. 5 inch screen etc etc. Also-a manual in a mazda 6? People don't buy in this segment for sportyness and driving feel its comfort, reliability, safety, tech and bang for your buck. The loaded version is good. ..too bad u can't get the sport loaded-similarly 2 the Accord.
It is a nice-looking ride but the paint and interior look very cheap in my honest opinion, and you should never be able to see such pronounced gaps between the body panels. These things are all indicative of cost-cutting.
Still I would much much prefer this over the Accord Sport (I would pretty much prefer ANYTHING over the Accord) and Camry and Sonata as well.
Look for a Touring; if I get a 6, I'm overwhelmingly likely getting a Touring. Leather(ette), dualzone climate control, backup camera, and infotainment/nav-- that's the mid level trim!!! The Grand Touring is likely even nicer if you have the extra $$$...
This car is with the cheapest equipment, what a pity.
zoom zoom
mazdas have never been about refinement. if you care that damn much about that, get a camry
who gives a fuck if you lose like 5-7 hp its not even that much anymore on modern compressors and engines, and opening the windows would've ruined the audio anyway, plus you only probably lose closer to 4-5 hp on todays cars
Too much road and interior noise...weak for any 2014 car. Other then that it looks great.
thats because im gay
Road Noise
Native722 crank the music up!!!
That gross
