Bought an '02 Rav4L with 98k miles. Today, 305k miles. Most reliable and trouble-free car I've owned (since 1972). Nimble, powerful enough. Kinda noisy interior, compared to newfangled cars.
I got my 2001 rav4 passed down to me in 2020 and just now started driving it I’m 15 about to be 16 car works fine there where times it wouldn’t start but we situated that mine has like 300k+ miles still going strong
I got the black rav4 L with 175,000 and love it nothing outstanding about about it but it does everything well, it can't compare to the modern models but that's to be expected
Great review. This gen 2 Rav4 has aged well. It seems to have been ahead of its time on internal and external design. Although over 13 years old, it does not look dated. I believe it is a more attractive design than the outgoing gen 3 Rav4. With the new gen 4, they are bringing this car back to its original compact roots plus the latest tech. Looking forward to your review on the last RAV4.
Great cuv. It's practical. Great in snow. Extremely reliable. Everyone needs a RAV4 in the family. If your thinking about getting a gen 2 RAV4 01-03, find out if the Ecu has been changed. If so then go for it! I love this vehicle. It won't die lol. Gm , Ford and Chrysler take notes.
Definitely good for a first car. My 2001 is black with grey trim, whopping 232k miles on it. Drives like a dream even today, although it doesn’t like the cold too much 😬.
I got one too. it is quite a nice lil first suv. its good if your one of those people who like a lil space but dont like parking in larger trucks. I personally wouldnt mind a bigger truck, but The Rav4 works well in its favor. its small and light so the engine dosnt work as hard and plus the lil 4 banger can handle it and get it up to speed relatively quickly. and also the steering wheel is great.
I got an 03 Rav4. I really like it. mine has the leather seats which are actually comfortable, but i'm debating if i should swap them for some cloth seats from the junkyard or not because it gets hot around herem and those seats heat up quick. i really like the sound system, and the engine gets up to speed pretty decently.
@@kingvonfluffy5574 Dude seat covers are the bane of my existence. (I probably did not spell that right). I absolutely hate seat covers, they look really cheap, they pop out of place easily and like to slide around. They're just...no...just no. And update I do not own that lil suv R.I.P because I was beginning to love it.
I agree totally with you. I have a 2013 Toyota RAV4 Review already posted, it's one of my most popular videos on my channel and its my top recommended Small Compact SUV for 2013 :)
I had an '03 awd, that gave me a lot transmission problems, I just found-out that it was the computer that was causing this. I live in Northern Ontario, Canada, in in the winter in -30 temps, the radio would not operate till this cabin was nice and toasty, I've never had this problem with any of my other 21 vehicles that I've owned, lol. For it's size the fuel economy was terrible that's why I unloaded it pretty fast, otherwise I would have kept it, I still miss it though!
Nice, the 2.0vvt-i is actually one of the best engines for this car. The 2.0tdi motor (Europe and other area's) produced 116hp with 250nm torque, but had problems. Plus by today's emissions standards lacking. The 2.4vvt-i had 11 more HP and increase in torque, but had a slew of issue's that other countries did not want to mess with. In Germany, the best RAV4 4.2 models were produced (10/2003-3/2006) with an updated 2.0vvt-i 150hp along with all kinds of safety & traction control features.
The early 2.4 engines had head gasket issues, I believe. The later ones had thin piston rings which wore out quickly and led to excessive oil consumption. So you'd want the earlier 2.0 engines or the later 3.5 V6 for reliability.
it being old has nothing to do with it. so long as its well maintained. but your not wrong, its better to rev it at operating temperature. you'll know when its at operating temperature because the engine will slowly start dropping its rpm while its idling.
The problem with this generation is its still a bit small. The 02 crv has the 2.4 and is bigger. If this had a 2.2, and a little bigger, that would be great. The 06 rav4 is much better.
Lol 98000+ is not alot for the year of that suv. that's quite good actually. means the previous owner wasn't rough with it, and didn't like driving much

I got past the noisy interior. its not that bad. But when you crank up your tunes you wont even notice it. they float like a dream to me.
did you have problem with ECM/PCM/transmission?

Beautiful 2001 Toyota RAV4 and a perfect vehicle for me.

The circular knob is the adjust the dim/brightness of the dashboard lights and then beyond that is the buttons for adjusting both mirrors.

Just so you know, this car is not superrrr old. On top of that, the car was up to temp if you look at the heat gauge when he revs it.
I don’t like the beeping microwave chime on some Toyotas
