I would like more stories, especially certain Webtoons to receive proper anime adaptations, but ultimately don't see it going mainstream for a while. In addition many recent adaptations that are from sources outside Japan seem to be getting the cold shoulder or poorly animated - take season 2 of Tower of God for example.
@@AbyssalSoda Agreed. Anime has always been an industry embedded into a big culture in Japan for so long and I don't think this is the same in China. Or at least not that there are people willing to invest millions to make it big worldwide (yet). And ya the first cour of ToG 2 was just extremely awful, unfortunately. It isn't just seeing the animation but the narrative feels like all over the place with its messily treaded pacing.
Lord of Mysteries coming out in Spring 25 and it's going to be an absolute banger. 100% going to increase the popularity of Donghua. Many other well-written works in Chinese literature could be adapted - the industry may grow quicker than you've implied
Do you think the horrible working conditions for animators in japan will eventually drive new talent out of the industry and in the future anime studios will be forced to fully outsource their projects to foreign animators? (Or at least the vast majority of it)
@@tenchan3255Great question! Personally thinking, that would hardly be the case, especially since at least there are still a handful of studios with well-managed human resources too (ie. KyoAni, according to past news). And with how massive the industry is, I doubt the "executives" will let such a dire situation occur, however the way they're going to do it. Seeing from a general perspective though, Japan is one of those countries with HR shortage (hence you see a lot of foreigners come there for jobs), so outsourcing their stuff isn't surprising tbh. In fact, they've done that plenty of time before.

Hum... I don't think Chinese DongHua or their Korean counterpart getting any signification traction in the near future at least. It took decades for manga and japanese anime to take root outside Japan, even in the most optimistic scenario, it will also take at least that long for DongHua to reach that level. On top of that I think there is additional challenges that must be overcome. Among them: the quality of source material, a larger cultural gap, the language and the quality of the original VA. So far the adapted material didn't give me favorable impression in term source quality even when it had been adapted by a japanese studio and had JP VA.
@@nobrainnogame4320 Agreeable. Speaking of VA though, I'm more pessimistic that they'll be able to reach anime's level anytime soon. Part of it being Mandarin is a language way harder to comprehend/sounds probably weird to some people in the West. On top of that, I don't see the VA industry being a massive one in China, while in Japan it's almost the same as being a model/figure (heck some of them also work as models/singers).
Always favoured webtoon over anime cuz animes are always overly sexualized and they kill off my favourite characters , webtoon is mostly made by korean/Chinese creators and on top of that it's full colored and not overly sexualized unless you search for 18+ genre, shotgun boy , i was the final boss ,the greatest estate developer, paranoid mage etc are masterpieces of webtoon, have you used webtoon app?it has alot of masterpieces webtoons that you will absolutely love
Can't fully agree on the foremost take but yeah I can see why people enjoy Webtoon. I do have the LINE webtoon app to read ToG and the content is vibrant. I love that there are even the indies made by the locals in my country. It may also be a stepping-stone for them as well.
@@CrescentAnime i see ,tog is a famous one and a good one too expect nothing less from webtoon and korean creators! @@oozybooz2067 Hmm checked it out and looks promising from the design. Perhaps might be another one if it caters well to the new audience.
I caught up with the world with "Bao-Ren". So, I am waiting for Season 2.

Chinese donghua are really amazing especially: Soul Land, Throne of Seal, Swallowed Stars, Will Of Eternal, Battle through Heaven and many many mores
