Unfortunately, the data that Google's search engine offers is not the number of searches of the specific term, but a graph from 0 to 100 where 100 represents the maximum search point of that term in the specified time.

its success is more because of longevity and the internet causing the show to produce such viral moments and memes, I started watching it 2 years ago and many poeple can say the same because of memes that they've seen on the internet. when i was watching the show there was about 20 instences when I laughed and said to myself ohh ive seen this moment 100s of times alrleady because of memes lmfao. In my defence, that episode has some deeper meaning to it, if you really think about it. It kind of scrutinizes Walter's OCD and perfectionism traits yet this bizzarrely perceptive persona which is carried throughout the rest of the show. And it also kind of opens Jesse's eyes as to when Mr. White gets hold of something inside his head, he has to fix or solve it; no matter the consequences. It truly depicts Walter's raw nature in a somewhat vague yet monotonous way.

I have to this day never watched a series so good up to and including season 6.
Breaking Bad is the best entire series I've watched.
Scrubs, excluding the cash in seasons eg anything beyond season 8, is a close second to BB but very incomparable due to the genre.
@@coxxycabee true. Its a shame people only judge it for the final season, I even enjoyed season 7 and the first 2 episodes of season 8. Then it felt rushed and out of place from then on. I still need to watch Breaking Bad but it won't fill the void left by GoT I feel. Lost, TWD and Prison Break are my comfort non comedy shows, could rewatch the first few seasons of each over and over.

Game of Thrones was an event of the decade, it's surprising how one of the most niche genres managed to keep audiences for a decade when done right
But the 2 final seasons are bad. IDK why when the final season trailer released it become the most anticipated show in early 2019 and it manage almost 100B search on google. Is it because they have been let down by season 7 and have too much hope for the finales?

After Netflix, Prime, and Disney+, we really see how fast we consume. The graph is going crazy in the last 5 years.Older shows occasionally breathe new life into streaming platforms, but the real standout shows on TV become apparent right away.
It's great that Game of Thrones said "sit down" and went up to 90x while Elite was trying to get to number 1 by overstepping its bounds.
Despite how many rose to first position, I'm more impressed at the longevity of _Friends_ rarely ever leaving the list.

Dominated the list for 6 years. I remember those first episodes being so extremely captivating and unlike anything you've seen before. Like GOT but on a smaller scale and before the streaming hype.
Also faced the same problem with a lackluster ending and feels very forgotten today.

The ending wasn't the problem. The show started going down after season 1 and from season 3 onwards it got more and more awful.
Lost's ending isn't bad. It's just that the majority of TV watchers did not follow the entire show and tuned back in towards the end and so were severily confused. The fact that there was and still is a lot of misinformation about the ending out there, does not help.
I think it's funny how 13 reasons why just suddenly appears out of nowhere and goes to the top then disappears, repeating several times.

Lost is my absolute favourite TV show. I'm so, so happy it dominated the charts for as long as it aired.
Lost was a masterpeace during all the show, but the end was a joke for me. It was too easy to finish like that...

Lost was ahead of its time. With incredible character development and arcs that marvel any show past or present. Its impact is felt in productions of streaming and way audiences consume entertainment media to this very day
The fact that there was a time when GoT had 99% of all searches for popular shows at one point is incredible. I remember when it was literally the only thing anyone ever talked about, but almost as soon as it concluded, I've almost never heard a word, other than the occasional, "Yeah, that show was amazing, but ugh, that ending," and that's it. No quotes, no references, no comparisons, nothing. Its complete evaporation from relevance was as stunning as its materialization. Meanwhile, I still watch and quote and reference Friends, and I didn't ever watch it all the way through during its original airing or anytime after.

This was like a walk through time and it's unbelievable and stunning to see when GOT spiked up to 90 Million searches. The fact that Ertugrul managed to get in the top 10 is quite impressive. I guess theres many people that like history based shows and middle ages. I will say its a great show.

Watching this I realised how powerful of a show GoT was! To reach the top so quickly, and having huge rivals like TWD and Stranger Things, but it kept its position still! There won't be another show like this ever

The fact that Lost was number 1, 3 years after it’s final episode is insane. It was over 5 years later for it to drop from top 5. It’s definitely one of my favorite tv shows of all time.
I was about 5-10yrs old when it was airing, and I remember hearing all about it nonstop during its runtime. I was a kid that watched Disney channel. I don’t remember how or when it came to my knowledge , it was just part of my consciousness all of a sudden.

Was depressed, i will not see my serie, was once a week 2 episodes exactly at that day. In that times once missed was Lost🤣🤣🤣 forever. They had tv there in that room i was and they don't wanted to turn it on for me 😭 They had to fix my arm and i wanted to watch lost no matter my hanging arm, the tv serie was more important for me🤣

I never watched a single episode until about 2021 or 2022. I was one of those people that bragged about how I had never seen a single episode. Decided to give it a try, and couldn’t make it through the first episode the first time. I turned it off, then several days later I decided to give it another shot, because I figured it had to be something worthwhile if so many people raved about it.
I am so glad I did that, because I binge watched it within a couple weeks, and couldn’t believe I had missed out on it all those years. I’ve watched the series at least 4 or 5 times now, although I usually don’t make it through the whole last season. I love GoT!
Anyone boasting about never watching a single episode is boasting on missing out on one of the best shows ever made, and the joke is on them.
Because LOST created a show hole that only TWD and / or GOT could mend.
I love the fact that, even 18 years after the sitcom's final, Friends is still in the top 12 most searched shows... Just goes to show you how timeless and unique that show really was.

By the end it moves so fast that it's clearly just a lot of hype for shows that then die off quickly, whether the show deserved the hype or not.

I think it shows how oversaturated tv has become. And shows are only a few episodes a season now, too. A season releases, people get excited for a short time, then a season of something else releases, and it keeps repeating.
I recently have been watching a channel that dives deep into the fan theories and lore of LOST. After having a much better and fundamental understanding of what was going on I rewatched the show. I must say that the writers knew what they were doing, far more than the backlash they got with such a subpar ending.
That show was lightning in a bottle.

It’s crazy that you can see how much streaming changed the game. My family started watching Supernatural in 2005 and all through high school, I was one of the only ones who watched/talked about it. Once it hit Netflix, it took off big time.
It isnt just the streaming. I think the youtube content that discusses it also play a huge role. You can always tell a show is popular when you can do a youtube search and there'll be many channels with high sub numbers doing a review of some sorts on that show, for every episode. Those channels also consistently release content when ever there are some news or teasers of new seasons or prequel and such.
They help people who dont understand what's going on in the show, understand them too. I mean if it were up to themselves they dont gey a few things they might even give up watching the show.

I had never been attached to any TV series before until GoT. How I wish Game of Thrones made it to at least Season 10 and ended differently. Nevertheless, I'm beyond grateful to have witnessed one of GRRM's masterpieces brought to life on television.

It’s interesting how stable the lists were for about half the video, and then how chaotic it would get for the second half. Shows the nature of the people now.. binging and then hopping on the next show that’s “trending”.
Every week a new episode of Game of Thrones came out the whole entire world was talking about it, speculating what would happen next, who would die.. It was the most exciting time to be watching TV ever.
This is amazing data - shows the cultural shift so well. Early shows gained and held solid interest, but now it is all trends. People hear about the new show - watch and move on. The amount of movement in order in the 2nd hald of this shows it perfectly.
It's because of streaming. Netflix in particular who drops all the episodes of a show all at once so there is no sustained period. You binge and then you move on
Well maybe it's because now there is a lot more big budget new shows being made so people move on to the next big thing
I don't think its that. Newer series firstly have a lot of CG and bigger budgets per episodes so you only get like 10 a season. then people move on to the next thing until the new season comes out again. Older TV shows didn't work like that
nah it's the video creator's fault. They switched the criteria in the middle of the video. First half is overall views of all time, second half is google searches in that month. Can't compare those two at all
One of the difficult things to show with this, is the increase in people googling things since the inception dates on the chart. I wonder what friends numbers would have been like if it was similarly as popular in the 2020s.
Glad to see Vikings on the top for a while , It's such a great show I can see myself coming back to this series many times in the future ❤:: The subtlety Fimmel used to portray one of the most courageous Viking legends proved his worth time and time again.🤗
Odin gave his eye but I gave $40 during Amazon Prime and bought the complete series on Blu-ray.

it's interesting to see the shift in what was popular! we went from largely consuming reality shows to fantasy/horror/sci-fi pretty gradually but we got there in the end!
Friends still remaining in the list after two decades is wild
I'll never forget the Prison Break/ Lost era. As a kid waiting for those two shows weekly was a different level of anticipation I just don't feel with anything else anymore as an adult. If something is really interesting I'll get excited to see more of wait but I counted the days until those next episodes (or months until he next seasons) came out for those two.

its interesting to see how starting from 2015 with the global popularization of netflix the numbers start changing so quickly but also some old shows return, like friends and greys anatomy, which a lot of people began watching throught streaming at a much later time

I've literally just finished watching game of thrones for the first time. Glad I didn't have to wait for each season to start. Loved it. It has its plusses and minuses.
Plus they're already making 3 prequels and everyone is excited about them

I'm surprised that it took Doctor Who so long to appear on the list, and during the Capaldi era no less. Also surprising to see Heroes so high up on the list, I had no idea it was quite that popular back when it was airing.
The way that shows stayed on longer in the beginning and how the lines just change like crazy as it got closer to 2022, you can tell how much streaming services totally changed the way how we watch TV and how TV shows are in general.
I barely watch local cable TV since 2016.

Everyone was watching game of thrones. Got me out of a speeding ticket one night. Cop asked where I was going in a hurry and I told I got off work late and was trying to make it home before Game of Thrones started. Dude straight up gave me back my license and registration, and apologized for the inconvenience. Astounded.
GOT, Breaking bad, and TWD, that 2015 period was such a transition into a new era of shows

What is really crazy is how much things kept raising and lowering on the list once streaming really kicked off in a big way...the list was so inconsistent and shuffling, it showed the difference big time.
If anyone is still confused about whether or not streaming has truly and profoundly affected the way we consume 'television' content -- this is a solid demonstration that it has.
Think it also has to do with newer series only having like 10 episodes per season. Because of Higher budgets per episode etc etc. So it rises when its the main show when the new season drops and repeats that process every year
@@wiehanvanwyk8701 I can see that argument. But at the same time, GoT and Friends and others have been done for years and decades respectively, yet they're still in the top 10. Shorter, higher budget productions are definitely responsible for the peaks, I mean did you SEE GoT shoot from nothing to 50 billion in a month? Lol. But as far as what becomes and stays relevant, streaming hasn't just changed the game, they made a whole new one.

Funny to see that every year that passes launches a season of game of thrones, then it goes straight to the top, then goes back to second, the next year all over again.
This gives us a perfect example of why, despite the ending, GoT is probably the best and most favourite series ever made. Not many things have the capacity to become a global phenomenon and turn into an actual franchise. It's on par with Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel/DC, Fast& Furious when it comes to popularity.

Yea, from what my mum told me, it was the biggest show of its time. And the rating were averaging about 13m per episode. It’s known to be the blueprint for the likes of Gossip Girl, a look into the life of rich kids and their drama.
I remember downloading episodes online, the day after they aired on Fox. It was definitely popular to me, and shaped the year 2003/2004 for me.
It was quite a hit in Europe too. Man the drama when Marissa died was crazy!
Here in Brazil, The OC was a great hit! I used to watch it when I was a teenager and all my friends also loved it
Season 6 of Game of Thrones was such a HUGE boost for the show. After the cliffhanger with Jon Snow dying, that fueled a huge amount of anticipation for season 6. That season also had the Battle of the Bastards, which was one of the greatest episodes of the show.
All of that just to be blasted off the page by season 8, the most-watched season, and also the shittiest season. Its insane how a season doesnt need to be great in order to get a huge audience to watch it, as long as they've built enough before that season to create hype, they could sell shit to a pig.

Everybody watched that show before streaming came along. It’s funny how we actually had to watch TV shows at a certain time on certain channels during the week. Streaming really revolutionized our entertainment consumption.
The plot twists were never seen at that extent before the show. It was phenomenal.

I miss LOST and GoT. I remember when literally everyone talked about them. LOST was considered and still is considered, one of the greatest TV series of all time and it's a shame it doesn't get spoken about that much anymore. Same with GoT, despite its ending, is still a masterpiece. Shame it has been tainted. Just look at those numbers!

This is a testament to how monumental of a show LOST was. Its absolutely crazy to me how people hardly ever mention it anymore. LOST is one of the best shows ever created and I think one of these days its gonna get a massive revival and only then millions of people will realise what they've been sleeping on!

I mean people using it as an example of excellent writing, recognizing it's significance and it's revolutionary role in the landscape of television. Shows like The Sopranos, a show also known for revolutionizing tv, for example, still gets mentioned more in articles, discussions, essays, ... LOST doesnt really, at least in my experience.
I've watched the entire series twice. It got better the second time during the god/devil era, first time round was a tad confusing.

It's not so much about people literally 'talking' about it, as it is about recognition. And yet a show like The Sopranos, which is older, is still mentioned and celebrated often (as it should be). When is LOST ever mentioned or celebrated in that discussion? Hardly ever, right? At least in my experience. And both shows played an absolutely pivotal role when it comes to revolutionizing television. I'd say more so than a show like Breaking Bad. Yet I'm sure the legacy of that show will remain steady. I feel like LOST has slipped away from peoples consciousness, yet not that long ago EVERYONE seemed to be captivated by it for 7+ years. Another great example is FRIENDS, it remains super iconic and is celebrated widely and frequently, almost 20 years after its airtime. Why do I get the feeling that that doesn't happen to LOST? Is it just me? I'm genuinly curious.
However, I do believe that LOST will get a huge revival, like some older shows have gotten over the years mainly because they're made available on popular streaming services.
