  • Welcome back to the channel!
In this video, we fire up the (what was supposed to be an AAZ) TDI to check things over. Interesting story on that... we ordered an AAZ from an importer. It showed up as a TDI with a stock AAZ pump. As you can tell in the video, it's a bit lazy. We'll get that sorted later though.
More to come on this soon!

You will love the 1.9 TDI, i currently have 5 of them, although only 1 is on the road..... they are getting pricey and hard to find these days

Tis not mine... but I'm sure it'll be sweet when I'm done with it.

I had 7 TDI's sold 1 recently. Most are newer common rail but I have an ALH Beetle. I love those MTDI's It will make a great swap. My son has a Jeep TJ that we plan on swapping my ALH in this winter. Collecting parts right now.

Hey buddy how are ya? I’m looking forward to the swap gonna be super cool!! Im in the process of deciding which tdi engine to use. Im thinking BHW , but not sure if it would run on black diesel?? I think the ALH can, but not sure? Gonna use the 2 tank set up. Gonna start and stop on #2 and run on mix. Thanks for all you share love the channel buddy thanks!!! God bless you and yours.

Not sure on the BHW... I know several people who are running the ALH on blends though. The bhw uses cam driven injectors from what I'm seeing... so I'm not sure if injection timing is tunable. With that said, I'd say it would run it... but may be picky. If you do it... start slow on the blends to see how it likes it... even with a dual tank setup.

@@NotSoGrandGarage Good advice. I know guys running wmo in ALH as well. I figure maybe putting larger hole injectornozzles a lil bigger than stock, and maybe playing with injection duration in the vsds?? It takes a lot of money to get a ALH to make the same power as a BHW at lower rpm’s. I’ll keep ya posted. Thanks again buddy

Well buddy I went to fuel up the dodge today. Here in the peoples democratic socialist republic of Kaliforniastan I paid 5.19 for a gallon of #2 and it’s only going higher. So I had an Epiphany, why go with an engine that I don’t know will work on bd, when I can go with one I know will. I’m gonna go with the ALH spend the money for the better turbo, injectors and the other goodies to make it run and last. A sure thing is a sure thing so here we go ALH to the rescue! Thanks buddy for helping with the waffle issue!!!!

@@heyyoubuddy6749 Keep me posted on the project. D2 is running around 3.70ish/gallon here right now which I'm glad as my main oil burner is down til fall with transmission issues and needing body work. I need to get the second tank plumbing finished in the Tahoe but just haven't had time.

If you want to run wmo on it do yourself a favour and switch over to the electronic pump.
Not so hard to get it running as a standalone. Still the rotary pump doesn't like wmo so much.
The PD models like it way more.

The Sammy doesn't belong to me so not sure if the owner will run any oil. With that said, a buddy of mine gave me a 97 Passat tdi parts car... no engine but he had the pump from it... car still has full harness, ecu, pedals, etc. Considering the cost of a quality mTDI pump, that's likely the route I'll go. Do you have any links on what people have done harness wise to get them going as simply as possible?

@@NotSoGrandGarage What I have are mostly German links from people who fitted a 1.9tdi on a VW T3 bus.

The alh runs it great with just the injection pump.

The standard rotary only does not like the vacume it has to pull.
If the fuel line to it is large enough and has a pre pump it's absolutely fine
