Sea Otter DH Race Run / 2nd Place Finish for 2023 in expert 35-39 men

Kicking off 2023 with my first race of the year at the Sea Otter DH course.
Fun times and I gave it my best for the given time and practice I’ve been putting in.. sometimes your mistakes can still be recovered and you just might do better off than you think.
Today was a great start and test to kick off my first race for 2023. Had a few practice runs and it was game on come Sunday morning 😎☝🏼🏁
Started smooth and strong.. fumbled a little but kept my speed.. stayed calm and pumped as much as I could to maintain momentum.. hit the top speed section faster than I’ve hit all week and slightly misjudged my landing and almost lost it off course.. turned around and pedaled hard and tried to stay smooth till the end.
Long story short racing is racing.. always check your times after a race no matter how you felt during the run. I am so absolutely stoked I got 2nd place for 35-39 Expert Men.. but also humbled because I thought the race was for all 30-39 Expert men so I felt like I didn’t do well enough.. so basically i missed my podium second place 🥈 finish because I never checked the times and just helped my friends over at Yoshimura clean up shop before everyone departed.
All in all amazing times with awesome people and that’s what matters most to me! 🤘🏼😎

Nice! You were flying. Great save near the end. Don’t know how far back of first you were but you lost a couple seconds at least with that close call.

What are your thoughts about used a downhill bike, or would you recommend an enduro

For this race? Definitely an all mountain or Enduro bike over a DH bike.. This isn’t a real “DH” Course.
In general, for bike parks.. a DH bike would be able to take more abuse then an Enduro bike.
