- I've met most of my friends and built my life around riding mountain bikes and dirt jumping. We ride with our friends in Ecuador at Rumi Bike Park in Quito, of course helped out with digging and made a lot of new friends!

Amen to this. It's harder to make friends on linear trails than it is on a jump loop. I love that we can all watch eachother rip, coach and cheer eachother on at the jumps. We have a great scene in our area. Gotta love the jumps, man
That's a good point, easy to not see anyone on a trail ride, but jumps definitely bring everyone together to build and ride!

@@PorterMTB Yes stick it on the calendar for next year. Lol. We are hoping to do the same in New England next year. There's a couple smaller bike parks pretty close to us that we are going to try and take the kids to this summer. The little one (who is Owen's age) needs to work on her skills a bit more first before we let her loose with lifts and such. Lol
It is definitely scary starting to actually turn the kids loose a bit in a bike park, I've tried hard to encourage and facilitate slow steady progression and growth with them, but it's hard to hold them back for sure!
@@PorterMTB Yeah I'm sure it's a bit scary to let them loose. You definitely taught Milo and Owen well. Their progression in what feels like a short time is amazing. Our kids are still in the beginning stages. We got them involved in ROOTZ here which is a kids mountain bike club run by a whole ton of volunteers. Kids get split into age/skill groups and they go off once a week learning skills. What a difference. It's fun to see them bring those skills back when we go out riding. I guess the mentors are a better teacher than Dad. Lol.

those jumps are staple of your life and channel Eric and helped made by a legend who is Kelly McGarry its nice that you have his jumps so i guess you can ride with him at home rip love your channel as well are you and the family going to whistler this year as the boys riding has very much improved i can bet they will be showing you new lines and sending it on ride don't slide well may not ride don't slide lol
Yeah the jumps mean a lot to me, we think about Kelly every day! We might actually go to Whistler this year! They will love it there, it really is the best!

If I didn’t go to the local abandoned bmx track and build jumps with my friends I’m not sure what I’d be doing today. I had brain cancer a few years ago but riding bikes and building jumps isn’t gonna stop anytime soon. 😊
I feel the same way, building and riding jumps gave me direction and meaning in life. Glad you're doing better from the brain cancer, that's scary. Keep ripping!!

When you are making wooden take off, r u shaping them in the way as you would shape a quarterpipe ramp.. I want to make mine, but idk how steep should they be, especially as a beginner. Thank you very much
Yeah it's just like making a quarterpipe! The radius is dependent on the size of the jump and the speed and how steep you want it, but I'd say start small and mellow and go from there! If there are any other jumps you like at a bikepark you try copying them as well.

Haha yeah I've been to Scotland, it's a different type of rain and dirt for sure! Ecuador will rain hard then be perfect dirt, then rain again, then hot, it's all over the place!

Yo, just went to Kanuga yesterday and had one of those gnarly calf smackers with the pedal. I met some very nice people who were from Miami. I loved it though and had a ton of fun.
Ouch... I've had some nasty cuts on the back of my calf, and shin, from pedals! Glad to hear the crew was awesome though, we love riding Kanuga!

Hard to say, but I think a 130-150mm travel 27.5" wheel bike would be great for everything, that's what I'm usually riding!

Great question, for me it's the bike I rode in this video, the Diamondback Release, it's 27.5" with 150mm front travel and 130mm rear travel, it's fun for everything!

Thanks, glad you like the videos! I use clip in shoes (clipless pedals) for big rides and road riding, and I use flat pedals for riding most of the time and always for dirt jumping.

Thanks! I'm not sure, I haven't listed anything on a site for a while, I'm curious to try Sendy, it's an app for doing that and it's started by Cam Zink and Travis Rice, but I haven't used it yet. Otherwise your local classifieds or Pinkbike Classified might be the best choice.

only if i had the guts to send jumps like that i have the skill for it but just need some learning or helo with sending it.
You'll have the guts when the skills are ready, just keep slowly working your way up, don't just go straight for the hard scary stuff, you got this!

Hey! That's awesome you're riding, just keep having fun and pick one thing to work on each day. The best thing you can do is always keep in fun and work on slowly improving, there's no rush. Set your goals just a little bit beyond where you're at now, so they are attainable.
