With all of the childless couples around the world, it amazes me that so VERY many children are either lost and/or abused in and by the system, when so many of these children could be placed in a loving foster home environment. Some of the most damaged children thrive once they are removed from institutions and then placed in a loving special needs foster home environment. Just because many people do not agree with same sex couples and single people fostering and adopting children, that does NOT mean that these homes will not provide a loving and nurturing environment for many of these children. To the contrary, many of the same sex couples and single parents are so grateful to be parents, that they are willing to do whatever it takes to provide the perfect environment for children who are placed in their home and care. Children do *NOT* belong in *INSTITUTIONS* as if they are some nameless and faceless head of cattle. Our children are our future and therefore, they *MUST* be treated like the *VALUABLE,* incredible human beings that they *ARE!!!* Institutions should *ALWAYS* be a *VERY LAST* level for dealing with *ONLY* the *MOST* severe of cases that absolutely 💯% *CANNOT* be helped elsewhere and *ALL* other methods have been tried and *EXHAUSTED,* before *EVER* considering placing a child in an institution!!!!

It's sad that they charge ridiculous, insane amounts to adopt a child. I will never understand how that's legal. & WHY fees are up in the $20, $30 thousands & usually much higher.. 10 children just at $20 thousand a piece you've built a $200 thousand home... WHERE does all this money go? It lines the pockets of the government, lawyers, Doctors, psychologist.. Everyone that's in the field to 'save' 🙄 the children.. There are so many ppl in this area that are just in it for the $ .. The ones that truly care about the children are the ones scraping together $ to get that child a better life. Trying to let them see what a vacation is .. Having their own bedroom & toys. God only knows what this young boy did to land in that situation. Something to share. They were always so thankful. Looking at someone & seeing that hunger in their eyes is awful. Yes if you break the law you must pay for it. I'm so happy he was able to be transferred to a wonderful place where the staff is kind and caring. If anyone has a follow up on Justin, pls let us know. Would love to follow his story.
Poor kid he looks so lost at the beginning but you can actually see he warms up later and becomes more chatty it’s great that he’s doing well , I guess he’s one of the lucky ones , hope that there will be many more.
I Thank THE ALMIGHTY MOST HIGH GOD for beloveds are doing. This proved Matthew 25:34-40.Ride on , with your good work .Eg Galatians 6: 9 . Remain blessed forever and your wonderful families in JESUS CHRIST NAME 🌹.
I've watched all of these about Justin. He's precious. These adults he has are a Godsend for this young man! It's good to see genuine loving people giving this kid what he deserves. Understanding and love.
The staff at this facility are/were wonderful. This is the first day to a new life of only good things to come for Justin. Amazing place and people. No matter who you are or where you've been, a little respect makes a world of difference.
I remember working with Justin years ago at Damar. It was one of those stories I’ll never forget. He really desperately wanted his Mother. It’s heartbreaking how a Mother can walk away and never look back, I’ve always wished she wasn’t happy wherever she was… He sure had his struggles but was one of those that was also such a joy and needed positive attention. 💙 This was really nice to see! Thanks so much for sharing this. I hope he’s happy and succeeding in life now 💙
@kutie1018 -- wow, glad to hear you knew Justin when he was at Damar. His transformation there was incredible. We've been so honored to tell his story, but more importantly, be part of his life away from the camera. He's truly an amazing young man!
Thank you so much for your words! To hear from someone that directly worked with him is amazing! This documentary has me on an emotional roller coaster! Calamari Productions this was BEAUTIFULLY done! You guys truly captured him and his stages of change throughout the first video! I am starting the second now. Kutie thank you again! Calamari thank you again times a million for telling this young mans tragically beautiful story! He has come in contact with some amazing people with massive hearts! I want to move to Indiana so I can work at Daymar! I worked for a company in NC but it was horrible the way the individuals were treated! You can see the good Daymar does! Thank you everyone one that made this young mans life beautiful again!!! Sorry for the ramble but I’m so overtaken by this story!!!
This child was a victim not a criminal. It’s wonderful it has turned out for him but he did it in spite of the parents and other adults in his family that deserted him. I live very close to Damar and I have heard many good things about their services. Congratulations Justin!!!
You're very right @Viking Fan -- Justin was a victim. Thankfully, many good people made sure that he didn't end up alone. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
@@lilman0820 We’ve posted some pictures and updates on the Community tab here on our channel. We’re working hard behind the scenes to produce the all-new updated version of his story. We’re happy to report he’s doing great ab continues to be an AMAZING young man! ❤️
@@sarahbrown328 because the state gave up on him and in the eyes of social services there was no other place to put him, but the youth prison has “1 bed available”, and that was good enough for the state beaurcrats who looked at his file for 5min and then forgot about him.
I teach in a program very similar. It's exhausting, unpredictable, and many times a day I am moved to tears... I wouldn't trade it for anything. These babies ( and some of them are emotionally and intellectually babies) are my life and I am lucky to know them. Super supportive admin and coworkers are a plus.
He was so eager to make friends already, goodness such a sweet kid. Stay strong sweets, You've got a whole group of people behind you. The staff seems absolutely amazing, super friendly. Gosh I just wanna give him a hug. You've got this!!
Justin turned out to be a fine young man. Thank you for taking him in, molding him and giving him a place of refuge where he could feel safe and be himself.
This made me cry! He needs to loved and respected. He looked so lost getting out the van. Watching him, change as he felt reassured, and relaxed. He seems like a sweet nice young man. I will be praying for him.
He is blessed This is not the narrative for many other children that are im in the same situation. I hope he's able to overcome the problems of his past and move into positive mindset and behaviors.
God bless this boy. He will take time to heal, trust and be involved in daily social activities. He is distant from adults-go figure. This is an example of heroes in action doing their jobs 24-7! I know autistic kids love the water and love the pools. He is very functional. This boy will do great. God loves all !
Thanks so much @Bob Daniel! You are so right -- so many heroes in Justin's story. Good people doing the right thing to truly make a difference. It's been an honor to tell his story, but even better, it's an honor to consider him like family now. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
I’m 15 and watching this and seeing how happy it made him just to have that little bit of freedom makes me rethink and realize how much teens really have
I’m praying over this young boy. I hope he really likes this new place and he is protected in the right hands. God bless him and the nice people Amen 🙏🏾 .
This brought tears to my eyes when he sat on the play structure with the look on his face. I believe this is good for him to succeed in life. I just want to hug him best of luck
I’ve worked as a medic in adult jails and I’ve also worked as an Assisted Living Specialist for adults with developmental disabilities and this breaks my heart. Especially after reading an update on him and how he ended up in prison in the first place. I can’t wait to see the new video when it’s done.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting @Just Ducky. And thank you for your work you do! We look forward to bringing everyone the fully updated story on Justin, hopefully in the near future. He's an amazing young man and we're so grateful everyone sees how special he is!
This young man is experiencing a new freedom... His mind is so excited he has no words. You can tell he needs help with vocabulary and expressing himself. Coming from a prison lifestyle to this new style is overwhelming. Wish that staff is truly willing to assist this young man.
You can see this young man's confidence growing as he walks around. Amazing what compassion and understanding can do for a person! Good luck young man. I hope life becomes easier and more fun!
Compassion and love if given consistently and over a extended period time can undo most any damage done to a person. As Sugg says in The Color Purple, Everything wanna be loved.
This child needs love and a lot of it brought tears to my eyes knowing he never felt loved at all sending prayers hope you love it here and make it in this world
This young man grabs a spot in your heart as soon as you hear his story. Im so happy for him, to finally get a next step to move forward. So happy for you, Justin ! Do your best, be your best, be fantastic ! Much love and many hugs from Canada ! Justins story is heartbreaking, abandoned on so many levels. Even when his time was over he was still stuck in that place. I hope he finds some peace and learns to live a little in the best of ways ! KATE : you did so good with Justin ! Iknow she is gonna be in tears when she leaves, you can tell she put her heart in to this young man. Many blessings, Kate ! Keep up the great work.
This is so heartbreaking. How sad is it that there's a jail for orphans, or am I misunderstanding?? Just to hear the excitement in his voice to find out that he has his own bedroom and closet & that there are other young boys as well, that he can make friends with. Keep your head up Justin. Prayers are being sent 🙏 ❤
No. He went to jail because he committed a crime. When his release date came nobody wanted him and they can’t release a juvenile to the streets so they had to place him somewhere
It’s so sad to see this child arrive all handcuffed. It’s so heartbreaking. The place looks like a cell and so depressing. No matter how clean and nice it looks . I wish you the best and only the best Justine. Sending prayers your way. God bless you!!!
I've not seen real criminals with such aggressive chains around waist etc, gee, wonder what he did. Hoping it wasn't just for cussing he went to prison
He doesn’t show any sensory symptoms, so maybe we shouldn’t be trying to armchair diagnose someone on the internet based on something you probably read on Facebook? Just enjoy the documentary and no need for comment speculating about anyone else’s diagnosis, it’s really not that hard.
I’ve seen Justin in a documentary about the juvenile prison he was in and they mentioned that he had some sort of development delays causing some intellectual and social issues. He should never have ended up in prison so hopefully this place is more suitable for him!
Seeing him run got me right in my heart! That kid needs a great big hug! How gracious this child was receiving that blanket. “That comfortable blanket!” My thoughts and prayers to you Justin!
***..My goodness .. !! Thank you ..thank you .. thank you .. you guys are truly committed to help Justin .. it's extraordinary what encouragement can do. This is truly amazing. Thank you for being good people who care. I’m so thankful for you and the spotlight you have put on this situation that occurs more than we know. Incredible work! 💜
That teacher has the patience of a Saint. As a teacher myself, I aspire to be like him. Great dude. I spent some time inside and I wish they were as compassionate as these folks.
This breaks my heart to see that this boy lived for so long incarcerated. I still don’t understand why he was kept in a prison up till this time and why he was in shackles. I pray he did okay while here and was able to move on towards a normal life.
Thank you Justin for being brave enough to embrace this change and let us take a peek into what must have been a scary day. I am so glad to hear he is doing well. And thank you Calamari Productions for taking care of him.💕
Our part was the easy part @Sonia Pitt, but thank you so much for such kind words! Meeting Justin and having him remain in our lives has been one of the greatest joys of this work. His story is one we think everyone should see. So happy you took the time to do so. 🥰
Parents such as Justin's should be put in the place he is in for 6 months then maybe their hearts will open to the child that they brought into this world😪
Watching this video has made me want to help juvenile offenders or kids with mild learning and behavioral issues. I believe the mild nonviolent cases can be rehabilitated with programs like these.
Man, this hits me in my feels. I can’t have children of my own. 😩 It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever dealt with. For a long time i wasn’t open to adopting but watching this, and other docs like this, makes me want to foster and adopt. This makes me sooo sad.. Justin seems like such a sweet and strong kid ❤️❤️
I’m so happy this worked out for him. He gets to learn to be more independent and he gets to make friends. This is what he needs is for people to care for him. ❤️❤️❤️
I agree that he looks scared and trying to see what his surroundings and kids look like. It's the same thing as when an adult goes to prison or jail, he looks at his environment to see if it's a fight or flight situation. It's sad that you can tell by his actions that he was not taught anything by caring people until now. I had years in my eyes the whole time watching this just to think of how a parent can desert their child like this. But he has Miss Kate now and alot of good people in his life. God bless him.
I have watched this so many times This young man was so lucky because of the people in his life that truly cared about him .His story is so sad but also so happy, Him running that track free mad me cry
@bertarose - we are happy to report that Justin's story has a very happy ending! Since the time of this filming, he was adopted and now has a happy, loving home. You can see more about him if you go to our home page and scroll down to the section titled "Justin's Story." Thanks for watching and caring about him. He truly is a gem of a young man!
This is awesome and I’m so glad you documented his transition and his return visit to Pendleton! I would love an update on where Justin is today like you did with Colt and Miles, what a wonderful story of growth and change! These people do incredible work and really impact these boys lives….🐄🕊❤️🌞🐇🌟🐄
Made me shed tears a bunch! Especially Ms Kate, EVERY CHILD needs that one adult to have that bond with, makes me sad to think how bad his childhood was, poor boy was locked up cause of his selfish parents, you can see he has good intentions and a heart
@Gary1983aries - Kate is an angel on this earth. And you are right -- every child deserves that kind of love and support. Thankfully, Justin was eventually adopted by his long time mentor (who wasn't in the documentary) and they are doing great today. He is such an amazing young man! Thank you for watching his story.
Thank you once again Calamari Productions. I'm grateful for former Superintendent Mike Demsey's fundamental role in 'Justice' for Justin. Poor kid, trying to keep his pants up is his only worry now.
Wonderful and heart wrenching. I saw his room and thought: he should be exiting his room into the house where he will be greeted by parents, siblings and perhaps a pet. Exiting his room to freedom to hang out, read, join the family in meals and activities. We can provide a beautiful atmosphere. What will make the most impact on him will be the relationships. Hoping he finds love and warmth, peace and care.
Thank you for sharing this story. However sad it may be, we need to know what going on in the system for youngsters. I would also like to say this documentary has been made in a respectful way. I hope Justin has a better life now and receives the help and support he needs. 💖
Thanks very much @Amanda Rutter. We take this work very seriously and have been honored to feature these stories for over two decades. So glad his mentor adopted him! I hope his health stays on a better path. Best of luck kiddo!
Poor kid he looks so lost at the beginning but you can actually see he warms up later and becomes more chatty it’s great that he’s doing well , I guess he’s one of the lucky ones , hope that there will be many more.
Thanks @Fay Kouri. Justin truly flourished at Damar, and wait until you see him today when we update his story. He's such a gem!

We will see.
Yeah when you're being recorded
We're ALL NICE 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
They seem like that NOW
I remember working with Justin years ago at Damar. It was one of those stories I’ll never forget. He really desperately wanted his Mother.
It’s heartbreaking how a Mother can walk away and never look back, I’ve always wished she wasn’t happy wherever she was…
He sure had his struggles but was one of those that was also such a joy and needed positive attention. 💙
This was really nice to see!
Is this a confidentiality violation?
What a Blessing you had thr chance to be in His Life!!!
@@harrisonsowder7750 God I hate how they treat this boy,
This child was a victim not a criminal.

I teach in a program very similar. It's exhausting, unpredictable, and many times a day I am moved to tears... I wouldn't trade it for anything. Thank you for looking after these kids.

@Moonlit Dxrkness -- we agree. Justin is the most huggable young man we know. :)
Don't be fooled by what you see. I worked in a facility like this and they aint all they're cracked up to be.
They treated him with respect and he responded well.

Hello
This is heartbreaking, no child should ever have to go through this. Every child deserves to be loved & wanted!
He is blessed This is not the narrative for many other children that are im in the same situation. I hope he's able to overcome the problems of his past and move into positive mindset and behaviors.
And have a favourite blanket!!
Bless him. He is a victim and needs the love he never got. I’m glad he is around people who care and will teach him great things.
Oh my,so much to contend with. I new start!
My heart is with him, and my prayers
I pray he finds a loving and happy family who will love and support him.God bless and keep him safe and happy.
Not a victim! A survivor!
Hopefully he is treated right. Alot of these places ACT real good when cameras are around.

What a cool kid! I can tell Kate is very attached to him. He deserves a childhood and to just be a kid. God bless him
God bless this boy.

I wish I was a billionaire and could adopt as many children in need of a Mother to love them it breaks my heart seeing this.
It's true!
Lots of children needs Mother's love and care...
Me too I’m crying so much
Same, thought that about pets as well...
Same thoughts..
I'm a single mom with 2 kids, I won't give up on them. Working as a housemaid just to give them a good future
The mother didn’t reproduce by herself. Where’s the dad. Both parents are needed and share responsibility.
Justin was so happy. Hope yall can do another follow up on him. I bet he will thrive in that environment.
I’ve worked as a medic in adult jails and I’ve also worked as an Assisted Living Specialist for adults with developmental disabilities and this breaks my heart. Especially after reading an update on him and how he ended up in prison in the first place. I can’t wait to see the new video when it’s done.

What was he in prison for ? I never read his story.
This young man is experiencing a new freedom... His mind is so excited he has no words. You can tell he needs help with vocabulary and expressing himself.
Coming from a prison lifestyle to this new style is overwhelming.

I love that you show the adult support for him
Let the public be made "More aware" on How & What items they can help donate for these young people Please!! Good video! Much prayers & Love 🌹💗🌹💗🤗🥳
It looks like a cell to you but its a home to others
I've not seen real criminals with such aggressive chains around waist etc, gee, wonder what he did. Hoping it wasn't just for cussing he went to prison
Knowing what I do about Autism, I'm seeing signs of this and C-PTSD. May the Lord bless him with an amazing rest of his life.
He doesn’t show any sensory symptoms, so maybe we shouldn’t be trying to armchair diagnose someone on the internet based on something you probably read on Facebook? Just enjoy the documentary and no need for comment speculating about anyone else’s diagnosis, it’s really not that hard.
My son is on the spectrum so I agree, that's the first thing I thought.

I’ve seen Justin in a documentary about the juvenile prison he was in and they mentioned that he had some sort of development delays causing some intellectual and social issues. He should never have ended up in prison so hopefully this place is more suitable for him!

I want to take this boy home and take care of him with my family. Thank god he has all you people in his life 🙏❤️

Our part was the easy part @Sonia Pitt, but thank you so much for such kind words! Meeting Justin and having him remain in our lives has been one of the greatest joys of this work. His story is one we think everyone should see. So happy you took the time to do so. 🥰
Dont know how many times i have watched this and just cried, especially knowing he is doing good, adore him ❤
That was just so heart warming seeing him walk on the play ground and sit down!! GOD BLESS HIM AND THE REST OF THOSE CHILDREN!!!
Parents such as Justin's should be put in the place he is in for 6 months then maybe their hearts will open to the child that they brought into this world😪
MANY THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS, SEEING THIS IS OVERWHELMING.

My heart breaks for this young man! No child should have to wear chains!
What’s his story, he came from prison?
eh, I beg to differ. So definitely deserve it. There’s some evil children in the world too. Not just adults
..America..
He’s a kid, don’t you have an age limit for criminal responsibility in the US?
unfortunately it happened... I know what is this i came through this so many times...
I’m so happy this worked out for him. He gets to learn to be more independent and he gets to make friends. This is what he needs is for people to care for him. ❤️❤️❤️
Yeah 🥺🙏

I agree that he looks scared and trying to see what his surroundings and kids look like. It's the same thing as when an adult goes to prison or jail, he looks at his environment to see if it's a fight or flight situation. It's sad that you can tell by his actions that he was not taught anything by caring people until now. I had years in my eyes the whole time watching this just to think of how a parent can desert their child like this. But he has Miss Kate now and alot of good people in his life. God bless him.
Thank God he is surrounded by very special people God bless them all

Made me shed tears a bunch! Especially Ms Kate, EVERY CHILD needs that one adult to have that bond with, makes me sad to think how bad his childhood was, poor boy was locked up cause of his selfish parents, you can see he has good intentions and a heart
@Gary1983aries - Kate is an angel on this earth. And you are right -- every child deserves that kind of love and support. Thankfully, Justin was eventually adopted by his long time mentor (who wasn't in the documentary) and they are doing great today. He is such an amazing young man! Thank you for watching his story.
That's the saddest thing, I've ever seen ! A Mom and a Dad is an answer, with lots of LOVE. ❤🙏 I would love to see how he does.
Thank you once again Calamari Productions. I'm grateful for former Superintendent Mike Demsey's fundamental role in 'Justice' for Justin. Poor kid, trying to keep his pants up is his only worry now.
Yeah I was thinking that same thing...
Let him do some shots. Hes enjoying himself..😀sports are fabulous moral builders!! Get him some gym shorts, watch him FLY. Perfect
I would adopt him, not even a question what an amazing young man. Best wishes kiddo, you'll be just fine!
Thank you for sharing this story.
However sad it may be, we need to know what going on in the system for youngsters.
