JICA Cooperation in Palau：パラオにおけるJICAの取り組み

The relationship between Palau and Japan is historically strong, and nowadays the two nations have enjoyed close economic relationship through tourism utilising the abundant natural environment in Palau.
However, environmental issues such as management of increasing waste, conservation of the living resources, and countermeasures against climate change are still to be resorved. Moreover, Palau faces developmental difficulties like other small island countries in the Pacific Resion; delay in infrastructure development like energy and water supply, lack of transportation network, limited educational and medical opportunities and insufficient industrial development.
JICA has been cooperating with Palau for more than 20 years to deal with these issues utilizing technical cooperation, volunteers, grant aid, etc. In this video, JICA's latest coopeartions are presented.
日本との歴史的な関わりが深く、また今はその美しい海、珊瑚礁にを楽しみに多くの日本人が訪れているパラオ。一方で、廃棄物対策、生物資源保全や気候変動対応といった環境分野、そしてエネルギー、水供給、交通網、教育や保健、産業振興などの各分野で、小さな島国故に抱えている問題も数多い。このためJICAが国際協力をパラオで展開してきて20年以上が経つ。技術協力、ボランティア、無償資金協力など多岐に渡る取り組みを、特に近年のものにスポットを当てて紹介する。
