I tried the rice water and it worked great! I let it sit for about 12 days room temp and I used peels of one half of a pomelo which Whole Foods happened to have. It smelled citrusy-not terrible at all. One thing, the mixture was a bit slimy. I just left it in my hair for about 20 minutes and rinsed with plain water. I did not shampoo but I used my styling products to straighten my frizzy curly hair and it came out great. Thank you for sharing.

There is another way that we indians use rice water. We keep aside the water that we strain from cooked rice. This water is placed in a bowl covered with lid overnight. Next day morning the water may have turned into a pudding like consistency. Although it does have a pungent smell, it is worth trying. U can substitute shampoo with greem gram flour or chickpea flour.

The fermented rice water recipe that I use usually did so good on my hair and was really efficient for hair growth since I really got a really short short haircut (a really unprofessional move of the hairstylist lol) I’ve been using it for a month during my school days and the progress was amazing my hair length is by my shoulders already after 4 months that started from the lower head level plus my hair had its amazing natural volume that was untamed and quite frizzy before. I used the rice water for first time on my hair today but I heard in many videos and saw that after the use ,hairs become a bit straight, frizz free, soft n what not .As per my today's experience I found by hair to be a bit soft n bit less frizzy the difference is a very less .I added 4-5 drops of oil too as per many videos .I think due to that oil my hairs are not looking that good.i think I need to try it more times to get result.
    I'll rate it a 4 on 10

Apparently, it is the older generation 'beauty hack' and rice water supposed to give you that natural glow if you regularly use it. I tried it once as a toner. You have to change the rice water though after like three days and store it in the refrigerator. I didn't use it regularly so i can't say much about the result but i heard from other people it works on them. The only thing I will guarantee to men and women trying this is, it will hydrate, deeply moisturize and soften your hair.

I didn’t know how long I was suppose to wash the rice until I realize the discoloration in the rice. As you rub the rice, the water turns into a murky white color as the rice turns slightly gray, losing its whitening . It took me about less than five minutes to see that the water was changing and all of the rice was no longer white but gray. So basically time really doesn’t matter, it’s just when the water turns murky and the rice loses it color that matters.

My grandmother had long dark silver hair it was so soft. She always washed her hair in the kitchen sink with her head upside down, then she'd braid it and put up in a bun.
