South Africa is not a country for a specific people. South Africa is not a tribal country. In fact South Africa is a region, that is, South of Africa, named by white people. If you are a Zulu then you are from Kzn, you are not from Limpopo or North West and you are not the same people as the people of these provinces. What would make you as a Zulu or as a Sutho be the same people as Pedi or Tswana people and be diferent to Shona, Ndebele, Shangaan or Kalanga?? All these people are different to one another. Each one of them is a specific tribe, it is a unique, none is the same as the other. These borders where put by the colonialists to conquer you , devide to better and easily conquer and then rule. None of the tribes created these borders. And why are you so obssessed with the colonial past to the point of discriminating and humiliating other blacks????????? If this is the logic then bring back the apartheid system. Your issue is that SA is more developed than other African countries and this being the reason why people come here, so what? Did you develop SA??? It was developed by white people, and white people are not xenophobic toward others. They may be racists but not xenophobic. Some say that SA can not carry the whole Africa. That is nonsense. The African continent has 1.2 billion people. The population of SA is 65 million including foreigners. Are the remaining 1.13 billion African people living in SA? They are in their own countries. They could come to SA if their wanted to. All they need is a passport. Some African countries need visa but many do not need visa to come to SA. And why is all Africa not in SA?. This is a monsense hatred, self-hate because you are lazy and incompetent and then you get jealous. The bottom line is every country in the world has a foreign population. You go to Mozambique, Angola, Congo, Malawi, Nigeria, Namibia, Ghana, Ivory coast, Kenya, etc you will see plenty foreigners there and there is no issues. Why should it be a problem in SA??? Why??? Home Affairs is the problem in SA. We can blame Nigerians and Pakistanis all we want. Some Home Affairs officials are corrupt and greedy. That department needs a thorough cleaning from the Security up to the top officials.

Its disappointing that after 30yrs of democracy, The S.A govt failed its people, instead of raising the issues that effect citizens they use labels to excuse the failure, with words like Xenophoic, Afrophobic, Apartheid lovers and Colonists. After those words the problem is shelved. Then the problems get bigger and worst before Govt does anything. S.A national security should be put first. Just in a few months in S.A news there was, zama zama, illegal construction workers, illegal military training, drug, child and sex trafficking. There are major issues that are NOT being dealt with.

It's a lie to say SA has never had problems with other races. SA always took a stand against racism/ apartheid. Now we want to deal with the disrespect of our laws by illegal immigrants, and no one is gonna stop us.
Now Nigerians should just account for their people who trample upon SA basic rights of dignity and beneffiting from the opportunities and privileges that our predecessors died for, by stealing their identities, etc. That's not xenophobic.

Inquiring about someone’s eligibility to be in a contest is not bullying? But since there’s a level of entitlement and lack of accountability here, we can ignore that. But what we cannot ignore is that a black mother has presumably been without an ID for 23 years or so which would have prevented her from accessing jobs, registering her child(ren), accessing benefits, etc., that’s the real travesty here yet all these reports are focused on capitulating to tantrums in support of Chidi. Thebe is the one who used terms like xenophobia and afrophobia and in fact he needs to just say he was wrong instead of now spinning. The gaslighting of South Africans who raised these issues is what’s even more problematic. The unseen victim here is a black South African woman’s dignity whom no one mentions while busy focused on Chidi. Granted she may not have known what her mother might have done, but let’s be honest here, at minimum she knew that her own claims of a Zulu mother were false - for one, her own social media profiles only had a Nigerian and Mozambican flag, why not recognize her Zulu mom? Secondly, she is entering a competition to be the face of and cultural ambassador of South Africa yet none of her profiles attempt to show a “proudly South African” imagery from flags to anything else - this I think was a major oversight on her part. It’s like being on the SA team at the Olympics yet promoting yourself with a flag of another country - not possible! Lastly, the real issues got muddied by the anti South African overtones of her Nigerian supporters - why is this not considered xenophobic? The vitriol continues to be quite extreme and particularly insulting to black South African women who’ve been called everything including that they are “only beautiful from the back not from the front” - both misogynous and hateful period. Lastly, Chidi’s withdrawal continued the gaslighting of South African where she only mentioned her and family’s safety, this was a missed opportunity for her to acknowledge that there’s new developments and an investigation underway and that it’s best to withdraw until all of that is concluded. Her silence at the vitriol of her supporters towards South Africa is also troubling.

South Africa is not a country for a specific people only. Why??? Selfish people, with mentality of entitlements

I "THINK" the reason of her withdrawal could be as a results of her knowing he real identity and the real scam behind. Surely if it is alleged as was said by the Minister of HA, that she could not knew what the mother did, she would hold on to participate until otherwise decided knowingly that she is legitimately SAn, or atleast wait to hear those who are investigating. BY succumbing to the pressure that she must resign ,may tell that she knows something

Although it is a subject that deserves more of the spotlight due to the seemingly lack of knowledge and understanding about the nuances of citizenship in south africa,
the fact this specific example of a pagent finalist has taken up so much of the public and Media attention is ridiculous, there are so many other issues in the country thst deserves the spotlight to this degree, let home affairs handle the situation and move on,
the only thing that this story, accross all media platforms has shown me personally is that south african citizenship is not automatic which is obscene and that there is deep xenophobic and afro-phobic tendencies we are dealing with in our society which is shocking, we are all one people and need to show our humanity to one another.

The ANC promotes black ethnicity, instead of calling all South Africans 🇿🇦, this diversity focus is very detrimental. I am South African 🇿🇦 but not really because, the home affairs wants me to believe that I am a coloured , not a South African 🇿🇦. What does one choose black, white, coloured or Indian.

  • @oliveriorkase929

I am Nigerian and have listened to the whole conversation. Immigration is a global crisis not an isolated one. Chidi's case from what i understand from listening is both legal and conscientious . legally, until proven otherwise, neither her mother or Chidi have committed any crime. But consiously, most South Africans have judged her mother and her, found them both guilty and want to carry out sentencing. But that's not how the law works right? there's an accusation and an investigation been done but not yet concluded, however, citizens have made up their minds, why? conscientiously, She is of Nigeria heritage! Believe me, its hard if you are outside SA not to conclude that South Africans are xenophobic. Im not trying to be insulting, its just the look, an established perception, especially against Nigerians. here are the cold facts of xenophobia attacks against Nigeria in SA: Deaths: 669 deaths between 1994 and March 2024
Looted shops: 5,310 looted shops between 1994 and March 2024
Displacements: 127,572 displacements between 1994 and March 2024
Diplomatic disputes: Diplomatic disputes with Nigeria, including xenophobic riots and violence. sayin SA is not Xenophobic is not enough. having frank discussions on xenophobia or afrophobia based on the data is as important as the question of immigration lawa, because the matter is both legal and consioustious
