@@andrewkgaogelo you are speculating, no one knows her Mum’s papers validity. That’s getting investigated now. Her Mum is Mozambican as this Miss SA woman has said in a Sowetan interview. So now it begs the question…how did her Mozambican Mum get her SA papers…don’t speculate because her case hasn’t been investigated nor was it specifically unpacked here by deputy minister …only references and examples were made to explain how you can get citizenship. That’s different to saying Home Affairs confirms her papers are valid, that’s still outstanding as no HA official has pronounced on that ,just ill-informed and hungry celebrities like Pearl and Ikalefeng…those ppl aren’t versed in the law or policies of country, HA officials are only one who can say for sure, they have access to systems and files, as deputy said HA has solid systems and archives…they’ll find it.
Hence her Mum having SA papers is being asked to be verified as to validity because you and I know many foreigners have been arrested with fraudulent papers before. Hope for her sake her Mum’s papers weren’t obtained fraudulently…so this is a developing story and ppl aren’t letting go. SA citizens’ concerns are valid and this is our country and we have every right to want to protect it and no one will shame us for it…ask Malema and EFF, we showed them flames in elections for invalidating our concerns. As a foreigner who lived in South Africa before, I think South Africa has the right to have their own laws and people should respect them. Citizenship by birth to non-native parents doesn't make sense. That's how identity is lost. My country also would recognize you as an alien if none of your parents are not native to the land of birth. Yes South Africans can be xenophobic but please let them exercise their laws. Which actually supports the statement i mentioned that birth certificate doesn't denotes your citizenship, in any country in this planet, especially when the child is born by two parents who are not from the country the child is born. Everything regarding citizenship is absolutely well explained. Including the sports side argument. I can easily without any doubt recommend you to be the minister of HOME OFFICE, if you are not. As you know, everything about the HOME Office laws, which is better than most of our parliamentary ministers, government, and authorities. Most of the MPS in South Africa are claiming to know everything about everything and yet they don't know much. Nothing can go wrong when you are in, or around the HOME Office perimeter.

This debate concludes one thing for me.... If Vanessa Onwe Adeshina wins this competition, she did it both for Nigerians and Zimbabwens through a South African platform truth be told cause non of her parents are South Africans! And if we argue about other ethnic groups whom their forefathers died in our soils generations after generations, then let's talk about Vanessa Onwe Adeshina's forefathers and her generation to drag deep in this conversation.

Some countries don’t accept dual citizenship, so denouncing your current citizenship is required before they grant you citizenship. Eg Japan doesn’t give second citizenship…I’ve watched TH-cam videos of 1or 2 Americans who chose to denounce their American citizenship in order to become Japanese citizens…they also wanted to avoid paying American taxes as they’d been living in Japan for decades and American IRS will make you file annually& pay tax to them even if you choose to stay in another country for decades…only way is to denounce US citizenship to stop paying tax there. Anyway Japan doesn’t hand out citizenship to any foreigners(white, Asian, Black, or whatever…) like they are desperate to collect strays…they do though give citizenship based on mother or father being a Japanese citizenship, granted you don’t have any other citizenship (remember can’t be Japanese citizen & citizen of another country…pick one)

The issue that started this whole debate is the fact that CULTURALLY she is not South African, she does not represent South African heritage or culture, she does not follow or practice our customs or speak our indigenous languages, so the question was asked “is she fit to represent the nation and its people on the world stage?”. Yes she is a South African on paper so she has the right to compete but does she have the lived South African experience? Does she represent the average South African woman in any capacity? Or will she wear the South African title but fly her Nigerian flag high? - THAT is our main concern.

Acquire citizenship by producing a school attendance letter. Citizenship if you had relatives bearing the same surname as yours but are South Africans🙄🙄 not to mention citizenship that was easly bought from officials. If you could prove your 10yrs stay in South Africa, you also could apply for citizenship. But then came 2002😂 things changed to what citizenship is now. For one to be a SA citizen, one of the parents has to be a SA citizen but the child doesn't have to be born in SA. Eg, if you are a SA citizen and you move out of SA, then get a child outside there, your child is entitled to a SA citizenship by birth because of you, if he so wishes. Before 1995, the child would claim SA citizenship by descent but they now changed to by birth.

@@MNJ_Agri I have a feeling that the mother or the mother's parents had acquired SA citizenship, may be by naturalisation. There is no way SA can grant citizenship if both parents are not SA citizens. One has to be. And even if you as a SA citizen went out of the country. Got into a relationship out there and have a child. That child when claiming SA citizenship has to prove that you as the parent is a real SA citizen. They check your records before they grant your child citizenship. I know someone who went thru the process.

Her mom surely got citizenship before 1995. Her mum is a South African citizen. So, the lady is a South African through her mum.

Now Mr Minister please check how nearly every barbershop owner, every cell phone repairshop owner, every taylor shop belings to somebody from Pakistan or Egypt or Algeria or Morroco some that can hardly speak English but some even have SA documents with local names? We have thousands of youth that cannot find work? How did these people get here did the SA government assist them or who helps these peole come here then? South Africans must be first
