Oof - Alright some notes - This was another long one! New Vegas did feature another "Alien reference", in the form of a small UFO camp with a few aliens we could encounter. However, it was locked behind the "Wild Wasteland" perk and pretty clearly just for giggles, furthermore even if it wasn't, it wouldn't have changed anything in the video. So I cut that. "Zeta Rays" - Are obviously an Alien technology that posses some capacity for calming individuals and improving one's mental state. Notably, Jack Cabot offers the Sole Survivor a Zeta weapon to use against Lorenzo in the Cabot House quest-line and it very likely boasts similar origins. June 25th, 2020 is Mr. House's birthday.
TheEpicNate315 hey, how come the zeatans are on a comic in fallout 4? Were pre war society aware of them. Ignore this if you talked about it in this vid, curently the nuka world segment just started and you forgot to mention that when referring to vanilla fallout 4 Edit: finished vid, if the gov knew, then why were those comics even alowed?
I still believe the zetans are trying to help humanity. I think they want to evolve humans to be more like them since science suggests that humans are headed on a similar evolutionary path to the zetans. I believe they genuinely have our best interest at heart. The only reason they seem so cruel is because, to them, it's very similar to animal testing. That's just my thoughts on the matter.
Brilliant Idea. But there's no guarantee that the memory den works on a Zetan or if it's even possible to create a Zetan-Synth. Capturing one and in order to give him to the Institute for further research would be interessting. Maybe their scientists could build some sort of device in order to communicate with the Zetan.

Fallout 3 has or had computer entries and audio logs that inferred the Zetans were the ones that caused the bombs to be launched in the first place. It’s been over a decade since I last went through Fallout 3 but that was one of the major plot points I can remember from the Mothership Zeta dlc. If I’m not mistaken there’s another location somewhere in the capital wasteland that has a computer entry that also suggests a foreign entity had control over the missile launch sites.
Thank you I thought I was crazy cause no one brings it up to who started fallout , and I remember the dlc log’s reference to the aliens but no one every brings it up . Is it not canon ?
Yeah, one of the many indicators that Fallout is largely parody and you’re not supposed to take it too seriously. Its writers have always loved multiple, contradictory explanations for events.
I'd like to imagine the reason they don't invade is to avoid meddling with the interloper and other eldritch horrors that probably outrank them in terms of power. At least that's my head canon, and the zetan's are just watching from afar or being careful to not provoke the cthulhu creatures underneath the fallout.
This needs more likes! I never considered that but it makes sense, there's clearly powerful supernatural being in Fallout Earth that the Zetans probably know more about than humans, if it is why they're afraid to invade.
Well, if both theories are true, it could mean that the ancient aliens that first seeded Earth could have either been ancient Zetans, or a rival race of the Zetans, and they are just studying the result. Might actually explain why Zetans care so much about humans to use them for their Abomination research.
Maybe that ties into the theory that they caused the Great War, the tie In being that it was to prevent the growing power/influence of the interloper/al quothoth

In Fallout 4 before you head into the cave to find the alien there’s actually a radio signal that you can tune into of the alien talking, possibly attempting to radio for help from other aliens. Once you go into the cave you can actually find the radio that the alien was using, and once you kill it the transmission goes offline.
I'm curious if Nate is intentionally skirting around the fact that Hubism is a parody of Scientology, or if his confusion is real, and he really doesn't know that Hubism basically already exists.
He must be. Since South Park went the extra mile to reveal it live to everyone (like they did the mormons) it would be weird for anyone not to know about it.
Given how prone Scientologist are for sueing people who "tarnish their good name", I think Nate is just avoiding refering to them by name, everything else checks out.
With fallout 3 ive come to the conclusion they never will show the real intention of the aliens; the mistery itself is the main punchline of this faction. They just exist, do weird stuff and life goes on. Lets ignore them like we do with the giant octopus on the kitchen.
I love the idea of the Fallout fandom looking at the Zetans and just shrugging like "Oh, those little guys? They've always been here, don't worry about it."
I love how Bethesda isn't just "referencing" Scientology. This straight up IS Scientology, down to the T. First, the most obvious part: having to pay to get ranks. That's literally what Scientology does. You have to pay a ton of money to get a higher rank. Then, the origin story of the "religion". The founder was a Sci-fi writer, just like Scientology's founder. The concept of a Starfather and the idea of ascencion through him, returning to planet Earth as Gods. It's honestly hilarious and Bethesda got quite some balls to mock Scientology so obviously, considering how aggressive the cult is.
@@Solathoan They still made the current game and have pretty big balls to include it, even if it is an old joke. Scientology has grown massively and has immense power and knowledge over way too many people. You know that the biggest cyber attack on the US ever was caused by Scientology? They're nutheads. Bethesda could have realistically expected dire consequences, much less than Black Isle had to in 1998. To make it easy: Black Isle poked a dead goat with a stick. Bethesda pissed on a sleeping bear.
@@gaolbreak1090 Bethesda is poking fun at Scientology NOW, when *everyone* is. It's not remotely as "risky" for them as it was for Interplay/Black Isle. You should look up the history of Scientology. Back in 1998 we didn't know anywhere near as much about them as we do now, they were much more of a mystery and powerful in Hollywood. Hell it was seven years before South Park even made fun of them and put them more on everyone's radar. 1998 was MUCH closer to Operation Snow White, when Scientology infiltrated the US government's most powerful institutions to purge records of their own work. You're nuts if you think Bethesda somehow "risked more". Scientology has been the butt of tons of jokes since the early 2000s, and they've hemorrhaged membership ever since that South Park episode. It took way more balls back then than the easy target they are now.

In the Mothership Zeta DLC you can find a recording without Audio that clearly states that the Aliens are trying to get the nuclear launch codes from a US Soldier. You can read this if you have your ”titles” settings applied in the game.
@@RE4PER Still, it's not the only thing he missed with this video. Bethesda obviously drew a lot of inspiration from Scientology. The inventor of Hubology was apparently named Richard Hubbell, which is not too far from L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology. Also, the central theme of Zeta is most likely inspired by Theta, another greek letter. The Thetan is supposed to be the spirit of every human, going through several cycles of rebirth like in Hinduism. And just like Hubology, in Scientology you're forced to pay humongous sums of money to advance levels to be "further enlightened", and I suspect the founder to have originally conceived this as a scam, but since he's long gone there's probably nobody left inside the loop who actually knows the truth, just as it is with Richard Hubbell. I can't cite any sources, but apparently there's some of these levels nobody has reached yet that just catch dust in a safe somewhere in their central office, much like this level 9 of Hubology. There's more similarities, but I guess you catch my drift.
There is an audio recording in mothership zeta too. Theycare interrogating an air force officer, and when hes about to say the nuclear lauch codes, he realises hes being mind controlled. He says somethkng like "get out of my head, ill never tell you"
32:00 You missed the fact the Flatwoods Monster was Based on a Sighting In Flatwoods Virginia. Which was thought to be an Alien. The shape an the Fact is floats is based on Eye witness reports on what thy saw of the Creature.
I have a theory that the zetans are hyper sensitive to radition that being the reason they havent invaded yet, why all zetans on earth are dead or near dead, with the exception of the flatwoods monster, whose suit may provide protection from the rads. This also explains why they were making hybrids in mothership zeta, as humans are far more rad resistant than natural zetans would be.
Thats a very interesting idea. And could potential make the pre-war governments and vault tec the immoral "good guys". Perhaps they knew this, and realized that if they irradiated the planet they could prevent the invasion. But they wanted to be prepared, so perhaps Vault-tec was created to preserve "healthy" humans and perhaps build a spacecraft of some kind. The war was started to irradiate the earth and protect it from invasion for a while.
I actually really like this theory, it fits incredibly well with the whole theme of the Zetans being the most stereotypical and cliche 1950s aliens possible, with a weakness similar to War of the Worlds. However, I think the community is failing to take into account one (possibly) related questline. Lorenzo Cabot and the artifact helmet he brought back from a lost desert city, which made him immortal and not only gave him psychic powers, but was said to not be crafted by human hands. He also went out of his way to hide the location of the ancient ruins he found, and stated that it was neither a temple nor a tomb, but didn't elaborate further. All of this used as context makes me think the Zetans were never trying to invade the Earth, so much as looking for something they had lost a long time ago.
What about the holotape recordings of the Airforce General screaming "get out of my head", implying they stole the nuclear launch codes or psychically forced the Great War
The Chinese launched the Nukes first so that’s not the case. The US had an army in power army right outside of Moscow or whichever the capital of the new China was. So Chine just sent nukes since they were gonna lose anyway
I recall that the aliens were interested in gaining control of the US nuke arsenal. However, I don't believe that they wanted to use the nukes. They were doing quite well infiltrating the world governments. I theorize they wanted to prevent the Great War because a nuked planet is much less useful to them (otherwise, why didn't they land and take over after the dust settled)? Just my thought.
I’m pretty sure they removed that actual audio line (can’t remember if it was cut in development, or in a patch after fan outcry) but they mistakenly failed to remove the subtitle text. I’m pretty sure I heard about that from one of the Zeta episodes of Many a True Nerd’s “fallout 3: You Only Live Once” LP.

You have a point, but a species that advanced surely has access to terraforming technologies, or had access to that technology from having found a G.E.C.K. or similar tech somewhere in the universe. The planet being nuked wouldn't stop a super advanced race of aliens from inhabiting a Tomb World. It's kind of a stellaris type thing. Once you reach far enough in the game, you can terraform any kind of planet, even one cleansed by nuclear fire and drenched in death. Pretty sure since Fallout 1 had the "Property of Area 51" thing and they're Zetans, Bethesda is also HEAVILY referencing Bob Lazar, who claimed the alien saucer he worked on in S4 (a subset of Area 51) was from the Zeta Reticuli star system
@He-Man The saucer in fallout does say it was property of area 51 and to please return it. Area 51 was planned to be included in fallout 2 but was cut and there was talks to include it in new vegas which never made it pass that stage as the area around area 51 was deemed "boring". Whether it is truly canon to the fallout universe is hard to say and many think that big mt is just fallout's equivalent to area 51 now anyway.
You missed a few things. There’s a terminal in the Citadel that mentions a report of the government detecting an alien spaceship crashing (but it couldn’t be recovered). There was an audiolog in Zeta that I distinctly remember, where it was a congressman or senator that had gotten snatched, and they basically forced him to tell them the nuclear launch codes. Personally, this always led me to believe that the Zetas were the ones that initiated the Great War.
That actually jives alot with what we know about the war at this point. US implicated to have started it, but no one even at the top of the totem pole knowing who launched first. China just kinda assumed it was the only other people with nukes and reacted in kind. The aliens starting it up makes sense.

I remember Bethesda saying a while back they based the Zetans on the most stereotypical 50s era view of what an alien would be. That is what Mars Attack did, too.
The last thing you said got me thinking; perhaps and most likely, Bethesda's has no idea where the Zetan story arc or purpose is going. What if, they're just holding out and looking at various fan theories and deciding to make a backstory from the most popular or credible ones? In a sense, us doing the work for them? That way no one really loses and in the end, they simply plucked the communities ideas up and ran with them...efficient and effective, if not a bit lazy. Just a thought.
It's said among some theorysts, that one way to repel an alien invasion, is nuke yourself to poison the planet, if they are after a nice spot to colonize, this could take away their interest...
That's stupid, why would they care about radiation? If they were after a nice place to colonize they could just build space habitats literally anywhere with quadrillions of times the livable space, with whatever climate, geography, flora and fauna they wanted. If they were after resources they could just mine billions of times more material from the asteroid belt much more easily because you don't have to bother with gravity. It's just Bethesda being stupid again.
9:04 - "There's also an alternate evil ending..." You see, what had happened was... I had more cores so I figured why not just fill the whole thing in. Whoops.
The aliens have the true deadliest weapon on their mothership... An army of robotic buttercup horses! Laser army with rockets and each one is 20kt of warheads!
The flat woods monster could be an injured alien that maybe lost its lower half. The idea I have for it is that propulsion thing on the flat woods monster could be what we would consider a prosthetic limb but they use propulsion devices
Yeah, as the other guy said, it does have legs, but I still don't think you're wrong. It's probably more like a wheelchair, he can't walk on his own, so the propulsion system allows him more or less regular mobility.
There is a comic book in FO4 called "Attack of the Zetans" or something like that, which suggests pop culture was atleast aware of them. Could have just selected a generic alien name, but quite a coincidence to get it right.
It’s more that much of Fallout’s setting and story is a parodic presentation of a world where Atomic Age fiction is somehow both (1) true and (2) a pop culture phenomenon as in our world.
For an in-universe explanation it could be that the Zetans are like the Illuminati. Like everyone knows of them but nobody except a few crazies believed they exist.
It's also possible that people are simply referring to the aliens as Zetans because that's what aliens had been called in pop-culture already. Upon finding real ones, people have just resorted to calling them by the pre-established term. Like if we were to find real aliens today and started calling them Xenomorphs, simply because it's a term people are familiar with.
So wich came first. The pop culture name or or the official goverment designation?? Personaly i would prefer this question never gets an answer because the question is more fun than the would be answer
Could the Zetans have some kind of connection to the ancient precursors that the Cabot family was researching? By completing Jack Cabot's questline, you can find several unique gamma guns known as zeta guns (though they are incredibly weak, you'd literally make them stronger just by turning it into a regular gamma gun), and the precursors seemingly had psychic technology, having created Lorenzo's artifact and the mysterious serum. Maybe the precursors were just an abandoned Zetan colony, and the Zetans orchestrated the Great War to prevent humanity from studying the ruins (which could mean Lorenzo accidentally indirectly caused the Great War by studying the ruins back in the 1800s. Maybe his actions put the Zetans on high alert and paved the way for the rest of humanity to discover and study the ruins), or maybe the precursors were a rival civilization that presented a real threat to the Zetans back when they were still alive.
I think his artifact is more Eldritch based than Alien based considering the city he was describing is very similar to how Relyth is described. Zeta is most likely a powerful energy source from time immemorial that weakens them. That’s why the zeta rays the Hubs bombard you with increase intelligence because it blocks their power for a time.
Honestly there's tons of weird forces at work in fallout. Eldritch, magical, super science, alien. If it's appeared in science fiction fallout has room for it. I could see the two in particular being completely unrelated in a narrative sense yet could easily end up interacting if fallout 76 keeps getting updates. Especially if they decide to do a full on alien themed event with side content of them looking at the eldritch stuff and not knowing what the fuck that's all about either
I’ve only just recently got into the fallout universe when I picked up fo4. Never played any of the other games. When the clip of Robert House was playing I knew I heard that voice somewhere before. I guess Robert House really did get into space in a round about sort of way.

Fallout 3 has or had computer entries and audio logs that inferred the Zetans were the ones that caused the bombs to be launched in the first place.

It's not bethesda, Hubology was a joke from Fallout 2, they're just retreading the same joke Interplay/Black Isle made in 1998.
@@Solathoan They still made the current game and have pretty big balls to include it, even if it is an old joke.

That is actually cut dialogue and doesn't really confirm anything.
@@LeBoomStudios Yeah it annoyed the hell out of me that he didn't mention that. The similarities are blatantly obvious....

Are we all just gonna ignore the fact that the Zeta gun you can steal from Jack cabot is the same exact thing on the head rest of the chair
I mean they have glowing ones on the ship in the fallout 3 DLC but maybe that's just a plot hole 🤷♂️
Doesn’t explain why they didn’t do something before the great war they had atleast centuries but a good theory nonetheless
@@desox123
Nukes. If they’re sensitive to radiation one nuke is all it would take to mess them up.
@@thedigodragon Exactly my thought. A heavily irradiated planet is not very useful if you intend on colonizing it
I’m pretty sure they removed that actual audio line (can’t remember if it was cut in development, or in a patch after fan outcry) but they mistakenly failed to remove the subtitle text. Ever notice how every new fallout game, the Zetas look less alien? They used to be all wrinkly and green but now they have smooth skin and a far more human-esque flesh tone. In the Mothership Zeta DLC you even fight human alien hybrids. What if the whole reason they're so interested in our race is because they need human DNA to fix something in their own?
Or crazy idea is that a government faction in space modified themselves with FEV to better adapt themselves to life in space and are now trying to return home

What if the great war was just a "scorched earth" tactic to deny earth to the zetans
The enclave might of been on to something
A viable and considerate thought, but because they have hyper advanced technology, radiation probably wouldn't bother them.
@@donnykitsune6289 yeh but still, that's a good reason cuz why would the Zetans waste their time on taking over a spoiled planet
There's an ulterior motive to what the aliens are doing on the earth, and habitation seemed like the least likely instance. Otherwise they would have seized control of all governing bodies and kept something like the great war from even happening, and no one would be the wiser.
@@donnykitsune6289 that may be true, but bringing resources from home or colony to terraform a spoiled planet sounds like too much trouble for them if their plan was to steal the planet's resources

I still remember when I played ultimate edition of Fo3 and didn't know that the Mother ship DLC existed. I was just going to see the alien crash that was in the base game and started SCREAMING as I was obducted!
Glad to know that I wasn't the only one to freak out when that DLC started. To this day, that DLC is still my top favorite DLC in any video game that I've played.
My brother bought the games for me and I wasn’t aware of any dlcs and when I got abducted I got up and ran into my brothers room to tell him. He laughed at me.
I've always enjoyed Robert House's attitude of the nuclear annihilation being a bit of a derailment. I mean, give me 200 odd years and I reckon I'd be looking at things like that too.
You know, I think Bethesda could get away with the excuse that the aliens were just having so much fun watching earth they just didn't get around to taking over. Witnessing a civilization rise up and nuke itself to death then fight for the scraps must be hilarious to evil aliens
Zeta reticuli is solidly rigged into our real world alien mythology, they probably referenced him and many other things altogether
You missed a few things.
There’s a terminal in the Citadel that mentions a report of the government detecting an alien spaceship crashing (but it couldn’t be recovered). The final line is something like “One thing is for certain. We are not alone.”
Then there’s the alien spaceship crashing overhead in Fallout 3 that drops the Firelance, another variant of the alien blaster.
Also I remember reading that the bio med gel in Robobrains, Robodogs, and the robots at Big MT is based on alien tech.
Fallout 4 has comics that feature Zetan aliens.

@@keigankelley8307 NEEERRRRDD!
Makes sense. if they came for resources n you basically blow it all up. Now they have no reason to bother with you.
This is the prime defense of any primitive civilization I build an observation post above in Stellaris, so yeah...
The Zeta star system is just under 40 light years away from our star Sol.

The flat woods monster could be an injured alien that maybe lost its lower half. The idea I have for it is that propulsion thing on the flat woods monster could be what we would consider a prosthetic limb but they use propulsion devices
Nah, you can see its legs, they're tiny and stumpy baby legs.
I always thought the tunnelers were what he was referring to in the Mojave wasteland
I’ve only just recently got into the fallout universe when I picked up fo4. Never played any of the other games. When the clip of Robert House was playing I knew I heard that voice somewhere before.
