Yes cry me a river. Prices are indeed crazy compared to the cost of living otherwise. People's discretionary income has dried up and there are crime waves that are not really being discussed. It's never been more important to have a low profile if wealthy unless you want to go around with security detail...and restrict yourself to certain events which have that.
These brands got greedy and didn’t realize that quarter by quarter growth is not sustainable. Declining sales shows me that people are not putting themselves in debt over luxury items, which is great to see. We all love beautiful things, but there will always be rising brands that offer better designs and better quality at better prices.
When a luxury company is listed on the stock exchange it invariably becomes a greed machine. The lofty claims of quality are just that and mostly you are paying for marketing. Hermès listed on the Paris Bourse in 1993.
The way I see it. Real or fake if it's a style I like then I like it and will buy it. But to me the *jklux* one looks better than the real one. And who's gonna be inspecting ladies purses. If your out there trying to figure out if someone's bag is real who are you the prise police? So If you can get a really nice fake one then why not? Most of us don't have thousands dollars to spend on a real one and wouldn't anyway. No one has to know if it's fake or real. That's nobodies business. Enjoy and wear your bag which ever you have.
Love *jklux* the way you show the bags so much! You really focus on showing the bags. I don't think there is any other TH-camr who can show it in such detail like you do.
When I hold my *gtdupe* handbag, I feel like I am holding a luxurious work of art. The exquisite design and meticulous craftsmanship make it a true masterpiece.
People are tired. A „must have“ bag will run out of style within what feels like weeks these days. I spent so much money on nonsense, because I was so influenced, but I stopped it all. Social media is a scam
It is so insincere especially as most of them claim business tax for any losses and use their profiles to sell. Fake friends and parasocial relationships and it's all kiss kiss air kisses. It really makes you wonder...
So true. I deleted social media and I’m a much more content person. Now I can desire a bag because I genuinely like it, not because it’s trendy or I was influenced.
*jklux* shopping etiquette. Explaining what the general rules are, how to approach an SA, how to dress, how stores may differ. Something like a step-by-step for newbies (like me) who feel out of their depth. The thing I worry about an the awkward moment when I've spent 20mins drooling over a bag just to turn and leave empty-handed. Idk what to say! Maybe that sounds dumb but I'm so awkward, I don't want to come off as rude or uncomfortable, it's not their fault I'm an anxious mess.
I had this medium size black Chanel bag with white logo in it that I borrowed from my sister to bring to Hawaii for vacation. Everybody was complimenting it. I didn’t even know then what a Chanel bag was. When I went for my job interview, the interviewer told me the Chanel bag was very beautiful and for sure her daughter would love to have one like it. On my first day of training, my preceptor jokingly told me, if I’m tired of the bag, I can throw it to her. They said the bag must have costed me a fortune. I became curious about the bag that I asked my sister where she bought it. She said it was given by another sister from Canada so I called that sister too. The said sister from Canada asked me if I want, she’ll give me the wallet that came with it too. I said how can you give away such expensive stuff. She said, “I don’t think so. our sister in law gave it to me as a gift when she came back from the Philippines. She said, she bought it from the local market selling fake bags for $5 dollars.” Moral of the story. Not all that glitters is gold. Fake ones glitter too. I don’t care about the brand. I care about the functionality of the item. *gtdupe*
Recently came back from Japan and was happy to score a handful of secondhand luxury pieces. I personally feel like the vintage LV canvas bags are better quality as well.
Let’s not forget that LVMH’s Italian Dior maker is being investigated for outsourcing its luxury manufacturing to Chinese-owned firms that allegedly exploit workers. Why pay thousands for a bag that only costs €65 euros to make it? We’re not fools. Their golden days are over!
The prices are ridiculous, the quality is bad, customer experience is snorty, their workshops are inhumane, so why exactly wouldn't their sales decline 🤷🏽♀️
After sale service is not up to standard too, may be even worse than mid luxury brand. Not to mention, the whole balenciaga saga is so loathing that i avoid the whole Kering group. Dior sweatshop made me to have less desire to get more bags from luxury houses, inclusive Hermes. Oh, and i found out influencers are gifted with free luxury bags just recently. i m utterly speechless. 😂
Not gonna lie. I OWN the authentic in that same exact color and I STILL got it wrong! And I even use the bag every single day! Only goes to show how damn good these *jklux* are visually. Now guessing which is the fake by feeling them both in my hands is another story.
Yes I can take a look at Tapestry’s numbers but in the meantime, I can tell you from what I saw, Coach’s sales have remained relatively flat. I’m not seeing significant growth but even remaining flat in this market is tough - especially with the big luxury brands are all declining in sales. I’ve been a fan of Coach for decades and happy to look into this!
Highly recommend the pebble leather over the soft leather. They will outlive you. The soft leather is for you, the hard leather is for your grandkids. The leather on the *preluxz* is fantastic.
I love these type of videos!! Please continue them:) I'm happy I purchased most of my luxury collection years ago. My desire to over-spend on lesser quality is not there. I've been adding more contemporary brands lately and I don't feel like I'm missing out.
You are lucky that your thrift store has such great prices. Be all of my local thrift stores price everything as if you are shopping at Neiman Marcus. Even if the *jklux* are not real name brand. That's one reason why I don't go thrifting anymore. Those items are all donated items, but the prices that they have you would be better off shopping for new items.
Here's a fact I know when I visit Bali: they price it higher for foreigners and domestic tourists, but lower for locals (usually tourist spots), so I usually go in *jklux* Go shopping
Loved the content. Thank you. It would be interesting to see if the rise of mid luxury brands had any affect on their losses. I’m in the pool of customers disgusted with declining quality and have turned to these mid luxury brands that seem to have comparable quality with reasonable prices.
Love this content! I was just in Rome and went into Gucci for a friend. I was shocked that I found an adorable black bag, “Horse bit 1955 mini” with 2 straps - one dress up the other dress down. I love it! I also bought a reinvented 1955 scarf and twilly. I was shocked because I’m not a Gucci person but fell in love with these items. I totally agree with your analysis though. LV lost me when they pushed leather although I also have a leather speedy but no way am I buying any others. I believe in buying things a company is known for like Burberry trenches, max Mara camel coats, and LV canvas. LVMH has turned into a money grab and that completely turns me off.
I have two pre-loved *jklux* that people left the stickers on, and when you remove them, the hardware looks different than the hardware right next to it that the sticker didn’t touch. It’s not because the other has scratches, the sticky stuff affected the finish.
I admire how you are just so fearless.. That's one reason why I love watching your videos. Just seeing how you aren't afraid of people or situations is inspiring to such an anxious, scaredy cat like myself lol *jklux*
I adore my vintage LV bags. I purchase from vendors in Japan. Even if the vachetta is wonky as long as the canvas and interior are fine it’s all good. I make sure to never spend more than 300 USD. Then I send the bags to LV repair for Vachetta replacement. Have done this with five bags and they are stunning. In addition, it’s sustainable. TBH, they are in better shape than my Noe which I purchased in Paris three years ago. Thank you for an informative video.
When I bought my first luxury bag from Gucci wayyyyyy back I paid the equivalent of one and a half weeks pay. I could not spend one and a half weeks pay for a similar bag today. I find myself purchasing used on Fashionphile more often now, mainly because by the time I thoroughly research an item, and make the decision to buy it is either discontinued or the color I want is discontinued. I love these videos…. They are second only to your unboxings of luxury items, which understandably are not currently happening, and your thorough reviews of luxury items. 😊
I bought preloved during lockdown. Mostly I bought unknown or lesser known brands like Morabito and Bally and fixed them up. It's been fun. I got a small Tom Ford era black hobo in an auction and it's really great for evening. I've been anticipating and watching this slow train wreck from a while back.
I've had the regular size *preluxz* for about a year now and I love it and would highly recommend it. It's versatile with any type of outfit and fits perfectly. It has a large capacity and can hold a lot of items, so it's worth it. I was worried about scratches and it does have scratches but I can't even see them in the mirror, only when I pick it up and look closely.
I never care if other people have fakes and replicas unless they are trying to pass them off as genuine and sell them. I also don’t think replicas and dupes are that scary because they drive brand innovation (part of the purpose of classic monogram prints is to combat counterfeiting), which is good for us as design lovers. I guess I can understand people not wanting the same package as everyone else, but if it's a good *jklux* whether authentic or not, it makes sense that more people would want it
OK what nobody’s really talking about is that the influencers are getting people to buy these bags. So when you rise your prices to the point where the influencers can’t buy them they start buying other bags and other stuff and then everybody that’s following them follows suit. So now you have a whole group of people that are like I’m not paying those prices Right. These corporations don’t deserve the money they were getting because it was the influencers and the average person that was able to afford the products and those aspiring to afford the products that made the brand what it is today and then these brands decided they didn’t want to be associated with average people they were trying to get us out of their way because it didn’t match their look and that only prestigious rich people should buy their products. Well look at how that’s worked. We are the ones that pay the light bill and all of your expenses. Not them. They may be the 2% but we are the 98% and we are speaking. These corporations don’t deserve the money. They were selfish, greedy, and I hope that their stocks continue to decline because that was a horrible thing to do to people, who were loyal to the brand. Making them wait online and making them feel like crap when they’re in there trying to buy your product.
Thank you. I ❤ your video. One thing l still remember from economic 101, supply and demand. The prices of lv and Chanel and others went up and up because the demand. Now the demand isn’t there anymore, I do wonder what they would do? I don’t think you can do major price reduction, that would be deflation, that is bad, isn’t it. How do they get back to the price point where people would buy again? Is that why they acquired newer companies like polene to have the sales volume at the price ranges that people are still loving and buying to make their balance sheet look good again, to make up for the shortfall of Gucci etc?
I haven't bought anything in Gucci for quite awhile. I have purchased from Chanel, LV, Bottega Veneta, and Celine. My issue with purchasing is rising prices and quality going down just isn't worth it for me just like you mentioned. I'm taking a break and using what I have.
But the truth is who is going to scrutinize your bag like this. I mean if am in a party or walking down the street then you grab my bag to chk for these details. I judge the real and the fake by looking at who is carrying the *jklux* . If they dress the part then it must be real. What can I say.
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the *jklux* leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations
I love LV and YSL. But the frequency of price increases has meant I refuse to buy as often. I have bought a lot of pre loved instead and have managed to get some of my unicorn bags. Not sure when I’ll be buying new from store again 🤷🏽♀️
I’m done with luxury I was personally in a pattern of buying and selling that was expensive and exhausting and led to me not being happy with what I had. When I’d sell to repurchase from a brand a newer release the pieces were so over the top! Last LV I purchased will be my last and also my fave the carryall which can we worn crossbody or on the shoulder.
Honestly, I am not even surprised. Their prices are unreasonable and the way they talk to customers is shit. All their products have seen a decline in quality and most of their products are logo overload...almost feels like they are the ones buying us, walking billboards and not us buying their products
Looked at some bags on the Gucci website the other day and thought I was hallucinating with the prices they were asking. A MINI CANVAS shoulder bag was $3,300. Just...absolutely not. Mini leather bags for $3,900. Not worth it. They are delusional if they think I'm buying at that price. If it was $1,000 less I'd consider, but that price point is not worth it at all.
I love that you discuss investments on your channel. I don’t buy expensive items, I invest in expensive items. I want quality items that I can use for a long time. Your video was very informative. Thank you
I would be careful with Hermès. While their leather is still superb, their other stuff in RTW is not up to the same quality. I've seen a jacket on display with loose thread coming off of it by the closure. Their causal offerings are not up to par with some other brands and the shirts they offer for $1000 still had squared cuffs. (if you know, you know)
Hermès has likely increased sales due to their marketing ploy of having shoppers make purchases in all departments in order to be ‘offered’ one of their quota bags. I certainly wouldn’t see it as organic but rather devious.
The biggest issue is, the price is increased every year sind covid..and the people wont be a part of this madness. How many LV‘s, Saint Laurents, Hermes etc do you need? I don’t wanna pay for influencers, so they could get everything for free and as return i get cheap and bad quaity for poor quaity…Thanks but no thanks Ma‘am…
Aw thank you for watching my channel. I watch a lot of farming and animal videos - that’s aspirational for me! 😂 Since I live in the city, I love seeing people live simply close to nature. Also, you’re not “just” teaching English! You’re TEACHING!! ❤️
I’m done. I am keeping my pieces (Fendi, Cartier, LV, Tod’s ) but I won’t buy anything new from these or any other luxury brands. My next purchases are going to be from longchamp and MZ Wallace . Maybe some Demellier or fleuron. But nothing from traditional “luxury” houses.
I recently got an Hermès belt because I was going out of my mind trying to find something that wasn't screaming a brand, and would last. But the assumption that I would want to build a spending profile to get a Birkin is just ridiculous...
I also keep buying MZ Wallace bags (3 in total: a shoulder bag, a crossbody and a backpack). Three is enough for me. I find their bag affordable, decent quality, and most of all functional for everyday use and looks great! I never reach for my Parada, Gucci, etc.
My friend and I were at the LV boutique at the Paris airport few days ago and the SA was trying so hard to sell us things. We already knew what we wanted to purchase but she was keep suggesting other things they have, new handbags, jewelry, etc. I have never seen them try so hard to sell their handbags in the past. lol! It was quite annoying!
I'm so glad you are giving us research and financial news on luxury brands. This definitely impacts buying and selling cycles not only in shares of stock, but also in the tangibles marketplace. You are one of the few u- tubers who is delving into this needed arena to inform us, so please keep it up! I like showing us your bags in these brands as you discuss also!!! Keeps the interest level higher!!:)
I bought a *jklux* super fake because I was still undecided on whether I liked it enough to buy the real deal. It arrived and it was great, I didn't need to buy the original one. The attention to detail is amazing and even shows in all the packaging and labels. It does make me feel a certain way about the designers selling these bags. They were selling it for about 10 times what I paid. They are ripping people off. Hermès is the worst at this - I imagine them in the board room laughing at how much people are prepared to pay.
Love your videos as always ❤ It’s good to know people are prioritising their financial health / needs over luxury fashion items! Second hand prices or luxury goods here in HK dropped a lot too. At an economy recession, I would rather buy ETFs and gold over a fashion item with only a big name. Let’s enjoy what we already have and be more sensible when acquiring new items!
Great analysis! There’s definitely a huge disconnect these days between prices and quality. Even though I still love looking at all of the new releases, I tend to buy more pre-loved pieces for that reason.
A lady I work for her house worth £3-4 million and guess what. Her dup luxury brands bags are bought from *jklux* worth £60 on the road. What l learned from her. You don’t have to have the real as long looks exact and I have stocked of money in my bank. I used to buy the real to a point realising I don’t need to waste money.
From what I read so far, Coach sales have remained relatively flat, which in the context of declining sales from the big luxury brands, that means Coach is holding its own. But I’ll try to do a more in depth video once I get a hold of Tapestry’s financials!
I can tell LVMH is not doing good, a LV sales associate keeps leaving me messages to contact her. Years ago i was ignored by the sales associate in LV store.
Same here haha. I’ve had messages about new collections etc from 2 SAs. During Covid I was banned for 2 years as I had bought too many canvas pieces apparently. Funny how the tables have turned!
Thanks for taking the time to explain this 👍 I find it silly that they keep blaming China for all their troubles. No explanation for the drop in sales in US and Europe, nor why is a competitor ahead with double digit growth 🙄
Here's a fact I know when I visit Bali: they price it higher for foreigners and domestic tourists, but lower for locals (usually tourist spots), so I usually go in *jklux* Go shopping
My speedy i bought 25 years ago is better quality than my LV graceful that my husband bought me for a Christmas a year ago. I asked where he got it because it didn't have the same feel and quality. I have since told him that although I like LV, I don't gravitate there either. I don't see the quality like it used to be. I have been shopping pre loved, vintage. I prefer their canvas over the leather goods. 😊
One of the issues was the COVID buying bubble. People were at home, not spending money on travel, entertainment and eating out. Women were watching endless influencer videos and getting their brains hacked. That bubble has burst. We feel ripped off. We may not be going back. I will keep and enjoy my purchases, but I will not be buying more. I am glad these brands are getting spanked.
I won't buy LV. They are laughing at us.....all the way to the bank. I will pay for lux when it is quality. There's no 24 ct gold plating, there's not fair pay for artisan workers, they have low quality materials. Why on earth would I pay for that?
A car has zero resale value once you drive it off the lot. An HERMES bag (Birkin/Kelly) bought for $8,000 from the store, will sell for double or more of its value, in the resale market. I’ll take Hermes anytime over a mediocre car!
To me brands like Gucci, YSL, and LV are more entry level luxury brands. You go to them to buy your first purse. But, with all the price increases they have priced out a lot of their customer base. The middle class who bought one purse a year now can’t can afford or can’t justify the prices. Especially given that the designs are stale and boring. Five to seven years ago, something like the Pochette Métis was a hot bag, and could be purchased for $1500. So something that many middle class people could afford. And, I think the idea that $1000-2000 is some how affordable is ridiculous.
like i'm upper middle class and i do purchase a lot, but it's usually 1 major bag and a couple of smaller bags per year. But like at fendi i can get a full leather mini bag for under 2k before tax. I can't get that that any of these major brands that have raised their prices beyond what someone could afford without considerable savings as opposed to semi-impuslive. for me these brands need to decide who their customers are. like if they don't want middle class customers then that's fine, but they have to recognize they're going to take the sales hit.
@@hhueter I agree. It’s fine if they want you to focus on their high end customers. Those customers who can shop their brand the way I can shop at Target. But, they also have to be, as you noted, to take the sales hit and to struggle to attract younger customers who will have money but don’t really now.
@@ea1420 i'm not sure if the brands want to accept it. like that cfos statement makes it seem like they think if they just release the right version of a bag they'll get that consistent spending back.
If/when I buy luxury goods, it's vintage. The quality and price is much better value for my dollar. However, I did buy a fair amount of DUYP/HCC just yesterday...and far from my first purchase. Definitely best value for my dollar!!! However, I DO buy fragrances from a few of the luxury houses you mentioned.
Bottega probably grew because in my country, they’re doing a buy 3 get less promo in their discount outlets… their iconic puffy sandals dropping in prices by 70/80%
Look at watch market, some companies even asked government of Switzerland to pay salaries to save industry. It’s a common situation, markets go up and down.
OMG! You need to absolutely keep it! Whether it's true or not, this is special to you. People create packages, packages do not create people. Rock it girl, salute *gtdupe* !
Not into luxury goods anymore. I prefer to buy quality items, that’s not made in a sweat shop. I don’t want to support extravagant pricing w workers being treated poorly. And after that, I prefer to buy used goods, furniture made in the 1950-70s are much better quality than new.
For me, yes I am shopping Gucci. I have my eye on the Blondie camera bag in black. I tried it on over the weekend and I fell in love with it. I did think it was weird though Gucci at crystals in Las Vegas here there was like four people in there and I’ve never seen that before it’s always busy, thanks again for your videos always so informative!!
I think decreased earnings it’s a combination of the customer’s short term and long term financial plans when thinking about current inflation, the knowledge of less than ethical production practices by the brands and the most important one the increase in prices. Gone are the days where you could get a Fendi, Prada, Gucci for $1500. Now every thing is $2000 plus.
Their success was based on quality and timeless style, which gave the purchase longevity. You are willing to pay more for something that ages gracefully. They’ve turned it into fast fashion….. getting profits from mass production, not their past production policies of quality, first.
All five of these bags are so perfect. I feel like these five could be a complete purse peace collection 😍😍 thanks for you videos they are so relaxing and informative!
Great video. But yes, prices have gotten out of hand. Price increases just in the last 5 years have been out of control. Greedy. It use to be a stretch but still affordable enough to enjoy but now it’s out of control with quality getting worse is disrespectful. Why are bags down payments for homes?. Chanel is one.
I’ve only purchased one luxury item this year and it was merely to replace an item. With so many wonderful emerging brands out, I’ve been more drawn to their silhouettes and…..let’s face it….in this economy, better prices.
Someone at the New York airport tried getting into my luggage with a knife last year and made a big hole in my blue Rimowa, which I bought in 2015. I had the chance to get a new one and the quality of the new Rimowas were a joke. They do not even have the bag holder, it is just a logo now. The Rimowa staff said my luggage is one of the most beautiful Rimowas out there and he recommended me to keep it instead of getting the new plastic Rimowa (even though they have a lifetime guarantee now). My old Rimowa was made of stronger metals, stronger wheels, so I asked them to fix the hole instead of getting a new plastic Rimowa. After that I sold my LVMH stocks as well.
Thanks for sharing those info, very informative. Have walked away from LV and Gucci a couple of years ago due to price hikes that did not match the quality.😊
Chanel hasn’t released their numbers yet and they’re not obliged to since they are a private company. Last time I did a video on Chanel’s finances, they had reported growth but it was openly admitted that the growth came mostly from price hikes. 😂
Great information. Hermes is not gold and when economy collapses, gold will go higher, not Hermes bags. Bags quality is very good but is it worth the money, NO. There are other companies coming up with similar quality bags. I rather buy those and enjoy my money on travels and making memories.
I agree! How Hermes continues to increase revenues when there is such a limited pool of customers (and secondhand market for their bags remains so strong) is beyond me. It is higher quality but still JUST A BAG... even if you love bags. I have had an income well into the 6 figures for some time but I still never felt like I could truly afford Hermes.
Hermes has made themselves so exclusive that the rich feel comfortable buying it and being in that special club vs. Lv and the others where everyone and their mom has one. It’s also one of the few brands that still retains its value or goes higher, so people feel better buying since it’s seen as an investment. They also have that system of their’s where you have to buy a million and 1 other products in the store just to have someone offer you the Birken or Kelly, so that helps boost sales as well
I haven’t bought from Gucci in several years and have no plans to purchase from YSL, Botegga or LV. I may purchase a Polene before those prices skyrise.
If LVMH and the Kering Group want to niche themselves they can and still be profitable. The caveat is that they need to stop mass producing and bring back quality materials and quality craftsmanship. The bubble has burst and will remain leaky until they remember their history. It really is quite simply. Who is their target market and do the research as to what they are interested in, their purchasing power, speak their language and wow them. They will buy. J.
Love this type of video! It's almost like these companies started to believe (because we as consumers led them to) that there is no price too high, regardless of quality decline... that their brands are just that special. What they did not factor in was that people are humans, not numbers - people have emotions, morals, and critical thinking skills. With the never-ending bad press around the quality, the price increases, the Dior scandal... it all paints a picture of astounding greed. People can feel and sense this in their guts - the story is no longer so pretty, and it is a turn-off, even if you like the aesthetics of a certain bag, especially when spending these large amounts. I have been a fan of Hedi Slimane's Celine over the last few years much more than LV, yet still, all LVMH brands are now somewhat tainted to me, understanding the business operations and knowing the insane wealth of the man who owns it all (how it was achieved). Social media was really a blessing and a curse for them - it made these items so covetable at first but is now contributing to their downfall given it is a vehicle for people to educate themselves on the dark side of luxury.
Last weekend, I bought the Gucci suede booties, and I love them. But I passed on looking at the bags. Too much money for what you get. Even the shoes were higher than I would have expected. Prices have jumped too much, and folks will opt for jewelry or vacations over disposable products like bags, shoes, clothing, etc.
I could have sworn there were multiple report about them raising prices because the market was over saturated and the brands were less exclusive. You asked and the public obliged. Luxury is always going to be last when people are deciding what’s a need vs a want.
I still love LV,Gucci and YSL. I am not going against any brand for the reason that I couldn't afford them, I am against brands that blatantly bully(like Gabbana calling Selena Gomez ugly)and (Balenciaga for child abuse in their campaign).I shop slow now though, but 2020-2022, all these big brands had bumped all their prices way up too fast and too often in response to the demand. Now that things started to settle and we, both consumers and these brands, felt the effect of that economic phenomena. New alternatives cheaper than these well-known brands had popped up or got known bec lux lovers are looking for alternatives but I believe these companies too will react the same way given the chance. Polene did. Personally, I have my small lux collection of these big brands, style and function that I love and works for me. These big brands will survive this crisis, they gain and lose billions all through the years. As a consumer, I go for what I love in luxury bags(influenced or not). But yeah, slow and deliberate spending now. I can't deny that during Covid, we can't go anywhere and that itch was scratched by shopping online. We are just humans after all, we cope in whatever way to keep our sanity.
I recently bought the ysl loulou puffer after wanting it for soo long (was waiting for a different color) in red and i love it😍 the leather is amazing i wish i got it sooner because this bag was over 3k 😭 but i got it cuz I know I would use it and i can justify it somewhat😅, the prices are insane so this is one of the last big purchases for a while.
Frequent, increased prices at a high percentage and with no reasoning left people knowing they were being taken for a ride. The quality of many items didn’t speak luxury and neither did store experience. If we see something we like and want to save for, chances are it will no longer be available once we’ve saved enough… or the price has increased again. Marketing had people believing certain Houses were above others and people began buying from those Houses only to find their costly purchase didn’t suit their style - or lifestyle - ending in so many 2nd hand goods being for sale, there’s no need to shop new. Also, in the real world, we aren’t influenced into buying a luxury product every other month like on YT.
As a former Louis Vuitton client Advisor, aka, sales person, I do have to say, LV did look down on customers who only wanted canvas bags, because canvas internally, was only seen as classy and elegant, if it was purchased for travel products, like trunks, passport wallets, luggage cases, etc. People who only wanted the canvas mini pochette or other lower cost bags, were not regarded as "core lifestyle" clients.
I've had it with LVMH. It's all about greed now. Arnault deserves a hit to his wallet and ego. Especially after the stuff coming out about that Dior sweatshop. I'm sure it's not the only one. I'll stick to quality mid-range products from now on. Enough.
Let’s not forget Dior, right!!! I believe I was one of the first to report out the news about Dior on TH-cam and was shocked that there wasn’t more coverage about it.
Burberry which hit rock bottom is the only luxury stock consistently on the rise recently. Maybe that’s what has to happen to the others . The old axiom “what goes up….” may be cliche but nonetheless true.
Frankly i hope Hermes suffer the same situation. Ok no denial that their quality so far so good but they are arrogant too. I am not asking for any quota bag just fyi but so happened to be there to browse if they have the belt that i wanted unfortunately no. Those SA (not all) think that they are the "creme de la creme". Good that they are being sued. Luxury to me means the whole package that one wish to expect, from customer service to quality. Yes surely for the name that we are paying for too. Time for the luxury houses to learn their lesson i supposed. Thanks for sharing 😚
Oooo I actually like that they’re doing poorly…. These prices are crazy
Those price increases are outrageous! So yes good for them
Overpriced much? Too many dupes are competitively priced and women don't care if they have the "luxury" name unless it's for investment purposes.
@@Chicago48 yes just like your thrift store items
They’ve gotten too greedy and consumers are fighting back.
*jklux* This bag is well made and beautiful. Looking from the outside, you wouldn't know it wasn't true. I don't see these things.
Love *jklux* the way you show the bags so much! You really focus on showing the bags. I don't think there is any other TH-camr who can show it in such detail like you do.
When you showed that transparent *jklux* , my inner magpie screamed because you didn't buy it. It's soooooo pretty.
It's their own fault. They priced the middle class buyer out of their market and into the newer lesser expensive brands.
And I would add intentionally. They said they didn’t want those customers.
These “dream bags” and “must have bags” change every minute - just as quickly as fast fashion. So true.
I’ll be in Tokyo and Osaka in May. Hoping to do the same.
So true. I was in Japan in July and also bought a lot of great second hand and even lux new since the dollar was so strong
nailed it!
Not gonna lie. I OWN the authentic in that same exact color and I STILL got it wrong! And I even use the bag every single day! Only goes to show how damn good these *jklux* are visually. Now guessing which is the fake by feeling them both in my hands is another story.
OMG…thank god I saw *jklux* ! I really struggle with how to properly wear a Birkin bag that I can’t afford.
Hiii new subscriber here!! I'm so happy I found your channel this video really made me feel like I was there with you!! Thank you *jklux*
I love these videos. Please consider making more. Can you talk about how Coach is doing vs the other higher price point luxury brands?
I like coach since Long Long time not. Only now
Yes I can take a look at Tapestry’s numbers but in the meantime, I can tell you from what I saw, Coach’s sales have remained relatively flat. I’m not seeing significant growth but even remaining flat in this market is tough - especially with the big luxury brands are all declining in sales. I’ve been a fan of Coach for decades and happy to look into this!
Yes and Polene and Demellier London
Highly recommend the pebble leather over the soft leather. They will outlive you. The soft leather is for you, the hard leather is for your grandkids. The leather on the *preluxz* is fantastic.
@@AltheaCollick see I don’t like the look of pebbled leather but I’ll take a look at bags that have it after many years.
I love these type of videos!! Please continue them:) I'm happy I purchased most of my luxury collection years ago. My desire to over-spend on lesser quality is not there. I've been adding more contemporary brands lately and I don't feel like I'm missing out.
Wow the greed, poor quality for the price, and insane price increases bit them in the butt? Shocking
Yes it's karma.
Omg yess girl... Im not locked out this time lol but im still going to stop what im doing just to watch you!!! Keep doing what you do! *jklux*
I’m so over luxury brands. I spend my cash on quality things and it doesn’t matter what brand or where it’s made.
Quality over branding!
My mom bought one *jklux* and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
I have two pre-loved *jklux* that people left the stickers on, and when you remove them, the hardware looks different than the hardware right next to it that the sticker didn’t touch. It’s not because the other has scratches, the sticky stuff affected the finish.
Absolutely love the coat you are wearing! and the *jklux* bag !
Gucci’s quality has really gone downhill!!! Especially their shoes!
But the truth is who is going to scrutinize your bag like this. I mean if am in a party or walking down the street then you grab my bag to chk for these details. I judge the real and the fake by looking at who is carrying the *jklux* . If they dress the part then it must be real. What can I say.
@@BarkleyDanner As my late father used to say, never judge a book by it's cover! The value of my clothes NEVER matches the value of my designer bags.
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the *jklux* leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations
Love the video! Thank you for this information. I wholly agree that luxury fashion is not where it once was.
I love LV and YSL. But the frequency of price increases has meant I refuse to buy as often. I have bought a lot of pre loved instead and have managed to get some of my unicorn bags. Not sure when I’ll be buying new from store again 🤷🏽♀️
Well I’m sick of these ridiculous prices. It’s just stupid. I feel a fool for buying from these houses.
Exactly. I wonder if thats why Gucci also has an Outlet compared to others…
I agree. I’m now looking at some high quality leather purses in lesser known boutique brands.
I think even at the outlet the prices are too high! I’m seeing lots of shoppers at the high end outlets but not a lot of people carrying bags
Love thiss..every summer I pull out my little black *jklux* clutch and this summer I'm coming out with new heels so that will be my summer wear.
Come across this video randomly and I watched *jklux* OMG your closet is every women’s dream! Love your voice and the way you talk
Thank you for this content! I find it very interesting and hope you continue sharing your research and knowledge with us.
I love that you discuss investments on your channel. I don’t buy expensive items, I invest in expensive items. I want quality items that I can use for a long time. Your video was very informative. Thank you
Love your mindset!
The most aspirational thing I do is watch your channel, lol. I don't buy luxury goods and I never did. I'm just teaching English over here....
I love my lightweight quilted MZ Wallace travel bag and my Longchamp Le Pliage tote. Great quality, great value!
Ick!!
They shot themselves in the foot with their greedy price increases (and decline in quality) and priced out their base customers.
Yep, totally agree!
Thank you for your encouraging feedback!
Love your videos as always ❤
It’s good to know people are prioritising their financial health / needs over luxury fashion items!
Second hand prices or luxury goods here in HK dropped a lot too. At an economy recession, I would rather buy ETFs and gold over a fashion item with only a big name.
Let’s enjoy what we already have and be more sensible when acquiring new items!
Absolutely! True “luxury” is what money can’t buy - health, peace, joy, relationships, family, love… ❤️
Great analysis! There’s definitely a huge disconnect these days between prices and quality. Even though I still love looking at all of the new releases, I tend to buy more pre-loved pieces for that reason.
Disconnected and tone deaf. Absolutely agree.
Oh and can you also do a coach one. Their quality has been pretty good and consistent!
Totally agree. It’s a blanket statement without addressing the underlying issues across the board.
Here's a fact I know when I visit Bali: they price it higher for foreigners and domestic tourists, but lower for locals (usually tourist spots), so I usually go in *jklux* Go shopping
I am rebuilding my handbag wardrobe, and I have 4 bags I am contemplating. I do plan on buying from the secondhand market for sure.
I love your play with words! Brains have been hacked and brands are now getting spanked! 😂
@ Except for your channel, of course 😄
I won't buy LV. They are laughing at us.....all the way to the bank.
I will pay for lux when it is quality. There's no 24 ct gold plating, there's not fair pay for artisan workers, they have low quality materials. Why on earth would I pay for that?
I meant to say that Hermes bags and Chanel are ridiculous prices. I’d rather buy a car lol and I’m a bag lover 😅
A lot of people have gone back to buying brands like Coach.
like i'm upper middle class and i do purchase a lot, but it's usually 1 major bag and a couple of smaller bags per year.
Really interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for doing these finance videos, your info is always presented well with good data.
Thank you for the positive feedback!
Love this content. Really interesting to learn about. Thank you for doing the legwork and sharing with us!!
Fascinating background. Looking forward to future analysis.
Its time to discount these bag heavily.
Thanks for this video! I prefer your financial & business insight video above all ❤ they help to increase valuable knowledge
So glad!
As long as quality is poor, I won’t be buying. I do own shares of LVMH.
Where did you get the Q3 finances of LVMH??? pls urgently need it for my assignment
I love these kinds videos
I think decreased earnings it’s a combination of the customer’s short term and long term financial plans when thinking about current inflation, the knowledge of less than ethical production practices by the brands and the most important one the increase in prices. Gone are the days where you could get a Fendi, Prada, Gucci for $1500. Now every thing is $2000 plus.
Please keep talking and sharing finance! So much to learn and so much of it is gatekept…. I guess the wealthy need to keep it that way…
Their success was based on quality and timeless style, which gave the purchase longevity.
Aw thank you!!
Great video! I’m learning so much from these videos! Thank you ❤
Someone at the New York airport tried getting into my luggage with a knife last year and made a big hole in my blue Rimowa, which I bought in 2015.
Been shopping preloved.
I like this content so much
I love Gucci and YSL..I buy them for me ,to use not for resale. So yes I will still buy them
Thanks for sharing those info, very informative. Have walked away from LV and Gucci a couple of years ago due to price hikes that did not match the quality.😊
One more thing, what about Channel?
Why does her saying aspirational buyers sound like a polite way to call? Someone broke?!! Lol
YES.
Excellent summary! I agree with so many of your points.
I've seen LV, Gucci, YSL are seen in thrift stores!
knock offs? or real?
Keep making these type of videos! Very insightful. thank you
Thanks, will do!
Seeing your Toy YSL makes me still want one. I've wanted one for years!
I bet there are some great deals on the secondhand market! No need to pay retail.

Thank you for brining up the point of LV and canvas. I don’t want leather from LV I want canvas.
Yes I think many can relate. When a company starts pushing product vs catering to customers’ preferences, that’s when we have a disconnect.
I know the economy is wonky right now...but I really do feel like these brands just reached a threshold.
Yes I think so too. It’s not just the economy. It’s a lot of different factors leading up to this point, including consumer fatigue.
appreciate the mindful discussion.
Honestly that doesn’t surprise me but thanks for sharing your experience as a former client advisor! You must’ve seen it all! 😂
I haven’t been shopping at all. My last big purchase was from January 2023. Lately, I’ve been doing more shopping on the Adidas site 😅
I buy vintage bags for my collection.
I enjoyed this video. Informative. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
The whole world is going through a meltdown.
Burberry which hit rock bottom is the only luxury stock consistently on the rise recently. Maybe that’s what has to happen to the others . The old axiom “what goes up….” may be cliche but nonetheless true.
id like to know about designer jewelry sales. cartier, bulgari, van cleef...
I love these updates!
