Spring. WolfArt nobody knows Rebecca sugar sang it as a sneek peak for the SU podcast. People are just assuming it's Lapis cause the comicon trailer suggest she might want to leave to avoid the second war.
Though here is my speculation based on the things we know (most likely to least)
Lapis: like I said she's going to get a arc where she might leave and the song title fits cause she been trap in the mirror.
Rose: where also going to get a flash back from pearl of the rebellion. The song lyrics really fit along with her wanting to escape homeworld and being free their society. I could totally see pearl accidentally listening in on Rose singing this in private. Leading to them becoming friends.
Or I could be completely wrong and it's topaz , blue peal or a new gem

I feel like that's more likely than lapis singing this.. steven Universe fans just hope the show redeems lapus somehow but i don't think the creators are going to use her much or concentrate on her much in the near future

everyone's saying its a lapis song. I think its equally possible its a pearl flashback to when she was a part of homeworld. but, considering pearl and lapis r 2 of my favorites, and I NEEEEED to hear a lapis song at some point, but pearl's (Deedee Magno Hall's) singing voice is amazing and we need some more pearl homeworld backstory, I'm hyped as heck either way.

This song could also be from Pearl's perspective, in a flashback.
It will take Lapis a long time to heal, but I do wonder what will have her realize that the Earth is indeed her home? Maybe she just needs a support group, form strong friendships with the gems and maybe some human characters too (in addition to Steven and Peridot)~!!!
edit: I wonder how Peridot will be affected by Lapis leaving?! She may end up going through some difficult feelings and a bit more of a character development arc~!!!

I watched the six new episodes and after what happened I think that "Escapism" will be Peridot's song instead of Lapis. It's so obvious now that I look at it

it’s funny, escapism just turned out to be a song for a filler at the end of escapism and it was stevonnies voice actor aj michalka who sang it, it really didn’t end up being a big deal at all. but ever since i heard it, it’s been my favourite song.

The "awful place" mentioned in the song could be a place of indecision or a state of mind rather than an actual physical place.
What? Sorry to nitpick, but Lapis should be the one apologizing to Jasper. Jasper asked her to fuse and Lapis agreed. Lapis is the one that dragged them into the ocean and kept Jasper prisoner. Lapis has some serious issues, yes, but she was definitely the abuser in that relationship. It was really hard to watch Jasper crawl back to her when she was the victim in that situation. I never understood how people thought Lapis was the victim there...
Yvonne Johnson How are you just gonna dismiss Jasper's manipulation? Jasper knew what Lapis has gone through ever since she has arrived on Earth and psychologically manipulated Lapis to fuse with her. Lapis only did it to protect Steven for as long as she could. Jasper took advantage of Lapis for the sake of getting stronger as a fusion of two powerful gems and technically abused her mentally through psychological manipulation. Sure Lapis "abused" Jasper in a sense while they were fused but it was to fight back so Jasper wouldn't completely take over Malachite. It was self-defense and retaliation. And this is why this portrays contemporary abusive relationships and why Lapis is the victim
Manipulation? That's just some bullshit your spinning to completely disregard Lapis' agency and her actual malice and abuse. She had no reason to fuse with Jasper to save Steven. Jasper asked to fuse because she was losing.
Ken Loli but why would she fuse to save Steven when there was a whole sea beside them that she could have manipulated and crushed Jasper with in seconds?
SapphireShield and cece are right. Lapis wasn't manipulated. All Jasper did was hold out her hand and ask to fuse. Lapis is the one who willingly fused to take advantage of Jasper. It's pretty clear Lapis was taking her "issues" out on Jasper. She even admits to doing so in Alone at Sea. I'm not bashing Lapis' character, I'm only saying how it baffles me that she is the one viewed as the victim in this particular instance.
09Meeshell You don't need to feel abused to be a victim of abuse. Jasper being addicted to the power of Malachite, focusing on the "good times", only made it all the more tragic when she practically begged Lapis to come back to her. Sure, Jasper wasn't portrayed as the typical sniveling victim of an abusive relationship, but that doesn't make what Lapis did to her any less significant.
