I started an urban backyard homestead and have been amazed by all the food I have been able to grow. Your video inspired me to keep going. So impressed by your homestead!!
Love this channel! Our best friends moved to NS from Stratford - upon Avon and Banbury 15 years ago. I will be introducing your show to them shortly as I know they will also love it.
Wow, you’ve accomplished a lot in what my husband and I consider a very short time, good on you! Your knowledge of homesteading seems vast, coming from a city-like dwelling … amazing. We moved to a smallish homestead in Rose Bay, N.S. in 2018, growing our own veggies, and have chickens. Bought a very old home needing a great deal of work and had great dreams until 2020 hit … then the focus somewhat changed. Oh well, have to carry on no matter what. It’s a changed world and sadly still changing. You and your family are most assuredly on the right track. Great to see how involved your girls are. You moved from a beautiful and historic country, the landscape there seems to have drastically changed in the past few years too. In our little area every second license plate now is from the province of Ontario, many more making moves. Some coming home and some escaping city life. Anyway, time for our breakfast. A belated “welcome” and all the best ! … L&Y 🇨🇦
Thank you 🙏🏻 It’s great to have you following along! Good luck with your homestead. I hope you’re getting your plans back on track yet covid. Kristen x
The transformation is truly amazing , you all work so fantastic together as a family , time to take a breath and enjoy all you've done Congratulations to you all you've done what must have seemed overwhelming in a short time
Wow you have all achieved so much in such a short time. It was lovely to see and remember those sadly gone and the new life that has come. Your family continues to amaze me every week with your knowledge and your teamwork. I love that you use whatever is available and make it work. I so wish I had even one person I could share your channel with as you deserve way more subscibers than you have, sadly the circumstances of our family means we were isolated before Covid now it just gets worse with our final 'contact' of my son's respite centre being closed down and society changes we are pretty much totally isolated (we are considered parasite's apparently). Anyway sorry "squirrel 🐿️" moment back to you. How did I miss you got permanent residency I am so so pleased for you 😊
Hubby says "Tell Marcus all you need is another cat and name him Bob!" lol you guys amaze me last week we moved and spread a half ton of cow manure both of us thought we were dying!
Hahahaha I love it!!!!!!! I will tell him 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh wow your muscles must’ve been screaming. I’m dreading mucking the pigs out…. When it stops raining 🌧️
Amazing! You popped up on my feed this morning and I really enjoyed watching. I want to see more so subbed and will be following along from now on :) I would have loved to live like this, but time has passed me by so I live my dream by watching homesteaders live the good life. Thank you for sharing
As a Sevenoaks, Kent transplant living in America for 30 years, listening to you go over your transformation, made me slightly homesick. BUT I'm on a similar journey as you, except my children are grown. We are selling our 2 acre home and property and looking to buy a larger lot. I'll be following along to see your progress!!
Hello from Alberta. I’m a new subscriber I just discovered your channel and I look forward to seeing all your videos. Welcome to Canada and many blessings as you build your dream.
Welcome to Canada! You built such a lovely homestead, kudos to you four. Those goats are adorable!! A few thoughts: have you started a few compost heaps? If you are low on soil the best thing is to compost all your kitchen and garden scraps, but also the nutrient rich manure from your goats and chickens (not sure about pigs). You will have incredible soil in no time. Another idea: if you want to save soil/garden space, you can grow potatoes in just piles of straw, look it up, so easy to grow and harvest. Best of luck!
Thank you 🙏🏻 yes going into year three gardening we actually have quite a bit of compost now. Waiting for some dry weather to muck out the pigs so we can replace what we put on the garden this year. I think it’ll take a few years of making as much as we can to have a super deep garden. One step at a time. I don’t see much straw here, but it is around so I’d like to do potatoes like that!! Thank you for commenting. - Kristen
One cherry tree! Our trade fell through sadly. We have just made our order for fruit trees and bushes. Can’t wait to start putting trees back and adding colour. Hoping to develop the bee garden this year and encourage a wider diversity of birds, bees, bats etc Currently looking into cover crops that are pollinator friendly.
Just to let you know, I just subscribed and your subscriber numbers did not change, not sure if this is something you need to look into. Loved your video
2 years, thats no time at all. I follow a couple in Illinois who bought and old farm and have spent 8 years cleanup-paintup-fixup and improving the property. You guyz havent even started yet. !
I bet there are not many new immigrants to canada that progress like you have, I am really proud of you all. But I have a question, Is that a bear hiding behind the tree at 1537 min? :)
Hi guys. I just came across your channel and love what you're doing. We've been seeking to do the same thing after visiting Canada for 6 months in 2018 and again in 2019. Could I ask what visa pathway you took? My family and I have been looking for suitable pathways, but we're just not sure how to achieve this. We really long to homestead ourselves and live a more sufficient lifestyle which and believe Canada has the best opportunities for this type of living. Any advice you could give on visa's would greatly recieved. Thanks
Hi James, we came across on Nova Scotia Provincial Nomination Scheme. NSNP. Basically, it’s a way in if they can’t find enough labour for a specific job. Look up Labour Market Impact Assessment to see what Labour they’re short of. Once we had the work permit we had 6 months to start the process to apply for Permanent Residency. Hope that helps. All the best with your dreams!!! Great to have you following along. Kristen
NSPN Nominated by Nova Scotia. Needed a LIMA number to prove position couldn’t be filled by a local. Came over on a two year work permit and then had to apply for PR within 6 months of getting work permit.
People views differ on this and that’s fine. Each to their own. Our stance is, if we’re going to eat meat, we want to know how it was raised and fed. Sure way to do this is to raise ourselves. We will all naturally withdraw from over playing or spending time with the animal in the lead up to butchering, as obviously it is sad. We also take time to thank the animal for its sacrifice.
Great parenting skills there! I like this film showing your trials and tribulations, but you really need to get a grip with the kids. You've got too much to do to put up with that immaturity!
Everybody pitched in to help, way to go
Thank you 🙏🏻

How many new tree saplings have you planted so far???

Hi Kristen thank you so much for your reply did you need a job offer for the pnp ?
No problem. Yes. They have to prove they can’t recruit a Canadian Citizen and get a number that goes in the work permit application.
What visa as a family did you manage to get to move to Canada from England?
NSPN Nominated by Nova Scotia. Needed a LIMA number to prove position couldn’t be filled by a local. Came over on a two year work permit and then had to apply for PR within 6 months of getting work permit.
I could get open work permit off back of Marcus, but I didn’t as was settling the family rather than working.
Daannng. Crazy you can get PR that quick. Wish it was that easy everywhere@@FullonFamilywithoutlimits
