Her voice is absolutely incredible, but man, I was hoping for the subtle music, the bells, and the constant do-do-do that plays throughout the radio version, but mad props to her for just belting it without any of those extra details.👍 Now off to hear the radio version!!🎉

She says in an essay that: she “felt as though he saw the world through a pane of glass.” The part about the actor dying was her reading about the death of actor William Holden (she didn't know who he was). Parts of the song also deal with the things she used to do with another folk singer, Jack Hardy, like picnicking at midnight on the steps of the cathedral. She explains it in detail in a New York Times essay
