    Hey bro Happy New Year if you're still active in 2022. Thank you for a great guide. My 10 year old alienware m14x is working faster again. I also upgrade my ram to 16 gb. I also changed the battery because it stopped charging. My 10 year Alienware m14x can't play halo infinite though. It can play all my old games.

      Hey, do you have M14XR1? If YES, do you have 16gb Ram 1600MHZ or 1333MHZ? Thank you

    I have A question. I'm going to order a new HDD, but I was wondering if the m14x(r1) has a limit of the maximum of TB it can handle. I probably go for either a 2TB or 4TB HHD but im not to sure if the m14x is compadible with disk of that size. defently going to use this video when changing the HDD

    The Hard Drive screws of my Alienware m14x are completely rounded and i can't figure out a way to remove them in order to get to my Hard drive.

    Hi great video. So i have a quick question, possibly a silly one lol but i am looking to disassemble my m14xr2 to do a repaste, and i was just wondering, where can i touch on this laptop to ground myself so i dont risk frying any components? there doesnt seem to be much metal on it. i dont have an anti static wrist band or anything so i was hoping to just be able to do it without. thanks!

      Ground yourself by external means

    If I want an SSD, am i better to use the MSATA slot or the primary HDD bay??

    • @xMaviHD
      @xMaviHD 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fletch510k well the mSATA slot would be able to give you SATA 3 speeds while the HDD bay will give you SATA 2 speeds

    Hey man! I just bought a Kingston 480gb ssd card for this very same model of laptop but when I install it, it says I have a cable connection issue which is weird because it reads my old hdd but I also can't wipe the old one. It's a weird situation.

    Question please. Where do I find the Alienware software to control the lights? Does it install that by itself?

      Go to the Support section on the Dell website. Enter your Service Tag and you should find all the drivers and applications you need.

    I think my heated device is bad because it says no boot device found so I think that could be my problem

    I have a few questions =/ i hope you can respond
    1. If the video card fails (i know its attached to the motherboard) is there any way to replace both pieces even if its custom made piece by a mom and pop shop? or do you know if a special order from dell can be made?
    2. I just bought the same machine off ebay and its a 34gb ssd which I want to upgrade to a 128 or 256 gb ssd soon, the os is on the hdd (750gb) which thats fine I wont upgrade that but my question is -After upgrading the 34gb sdd can i switch over the os from the hdd to the ssd without the win7 cd? I know theres a feature called "Alienware Respawn" which resets it to factory settings, but i believe only to the same place the os is currently on... not sure if itll let me direct where i want the os to be. Could I simply "copy&paste" all the win7 files from the hdd to the ssd and call it a day? (Im not tech sabby =/ )
    ps. You made this look very simple... it was a good detailed vid to watch, thank you for posting! I learned something new today!

    Hey there. how do you take the cover off the hard drive? The 4 screws are in so tight. I couldn't get it out.

    • @BrueComputing
      @BrueComputing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Try another screwdriver bit - if it still doesn't work and keeps slipping the put a rubber band over the bit and press that down into the screw and try again.

      @@BrueComputing I tried to take it off but it didn't work. My neighbor said that I chipped the screws so I took it to Geek Squad. They didn't charge me anything for it. It took a while for the tech to take it out. Thank God for Geek Squad. lol My alienware will still last me another 10 years. :D

    I have the Alienware 14m R2 myself the battery shows up dead or unrecognised on the BIO and I need to leave the power adapter to turn it on now my labtop is also running on Windows 7 , only a few months ago it tried to upgrade to Windows ten and not even starting it resets it self and turns on a black screen with a loud beeping nose like when you have to leave the building because of a fire, except my pc. Fine its the battery that striping it and maybe the crappy ssd

    Did you make a iso image of windows on a DVD to re-install the OS? I am trying the same project and cloning my HDD to SSD isn't working well.

    Hello James,
    I know it has been a while since you worked on this one. I have a running M14X (R1) I believe.
    I want to add a M2 Ssd and upgrade to 16 Gigs of DDR3.
    1. Is mine a DDR3L or Just a DDR3
    2. I have some HD wifi card on one of the 2 slots on my laptop. Can I put it there?
    3. Is my laptop even compatible with 16gigs and a M2 SSD?
    I would be really grateful if you could help me with my little problem.
    Regards

      Either clone the contents of the original drive, or do a clean install of Windows from a USB stick.

    • @BrueComputing
      @BrueComputing  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You definitely can't on the M14x - the graphics card is soldered to the mainboard. Some larger Alienware laptops use MXM modules which can be changed,

    Does the R4 have an MSATA slot?

    • @BrueComputing
      @BrueComputing  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which model are you referring to? I don't believe there is a 14" R4?

    • @CRElectronix
      @CRElectronix 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is located under the battery. Your unit may or may not have an HDwifi card installed, if it does, just remove it and install a MSATA drive. Then reinstall battery. Hope this helps.

    Can i install 2 HD's on R2?

    • @CRElectronix
      @CRElectronix 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can add an MSATA which installs under the battery.
