"wanted to recreate that feeling" it worked. As a kid I grew up watching monster madness, and it's not October unless I rewatch them. Thank you for everything james!
Great to have Monster Madness back, and I can't think of a better show to start it off with. I love how _The Addams Family_ is sort of the opposite of most sitcom families; weird and macabre on the surface, but at their core, everyone truly loves and supports each other.
Also agree. Didn't like how the Netflix Wednesday made Morticia her rival. No way the real Wednesday would talk to her mom the way she did in that woke version of the show
@@SerpentStar_ The original Wednesday was a child. It makes sense that a teenager would be at odds with her mother because all teenagers go through that.
Monster Madness, my absolute favorite Spooky Season tradition! Thank you to James for all of the work that you've put into this series over the years. It just wouldn't feel like the Halloween Season without it🎃
@DemsRpedosPerverts AVGN is an old classic TH-cam/Cinemassacre series! It's something that didn't ride the same popularity/trending waves for TH-cam, but it's nostalgic for me to see as it's a great example of old TH-cam awesomeness! ^^
My dad actually grew up in Westfield, New Jersey, where Charles Addams lived as a kid. We always passed by his childhood home and the neighboring home that inspired the Addams mansion while visiting grandparents, and it's cool to see Westfield hosting annual Addams-themed events in October. Especially after Wednesday became a Netflix hit.
Monster Madness is now nostalgic for me... James, THANK you for bringing this back again. I've had a rough day, this is totally making my entire day better knowing I get to come back from work and enjoy this
Monster Madness is back baby! I like this new direction of focusing on Halloween TV specials or episodes of a Series. As a kid of the 90s a lot of the TGIF episodes come to mind like Full House, Family Matters, Home improvement (not TGIF but ABC) Boy meets world, Step by Step, and other shows other networks like Drew Carey show, Night Court, simpsons, and so many others. In early 2000s I would always look forward to the Office Halloween episodes. The last Halloween special I enjoyed was Marvels Werewolf by Night. Sure there was Walking Dead but not many halloween focused tv specials or sitcoms or may I'm just old.
Did you know that Fester's Quest came out in 1989, two years before the 1991 Addams Family movie? And afterwards, the Addams Family went from being basically a dead intellectual property to having Hollywood studios fight over the movie rights; coincidence?
As fun as AVGN is, you can tell this is James’ REAL passion. James single-handedly turned me into a horror fan over the years. Thank you for continuing this series!
Little House on the Prairie had one of the most terrifying Halloween episodes ever with Mrs. Olson’s decapitated head on a platter. And no one ever talks about it!!!
Likewise, my SoCal grade school had school festivals in the 80s with bobbing for apples too. If the apple had a long stem that made it easier, but if you couldn't get it after a couple tries, the teachers basically just told you to pretend and grab one. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a generation gap where vital apple bobbing skills were lost.
The halloween specials of all the tv shows we watched as children were always a fun thing to look forward to during the season. Now we get to see James talk about halloween episode throughout the decades, what a great halloween gift. Monster Madness and the Halloween season has begun.
so glad this is back!! its actually become an annual thing for me to put on your monster madness videos and monster movie reviews (and the AVGN halloween eps) while I work from home in the fall. Much love!
Monster madness was my introduction to a lot of film history, going back 10 years now, when I was a kid. Growing up I didn’t have the hosted tv marathons like James did, so I can confirm that James has managed to share something with me that I otherwise would have missed.
Thank you, James, for bringing back Monster Madness once again. Great topic to cover with Halloween TV shows. I was surprised to hear that the two spooky Gilligan's Island episodes did not originally air at Halloween. Growing up, I would see those two episodes airing back-to-back on Halloween in syndication.
I would leave The Addams Family streaming 24/7 off of Pluto TV during October on year, now they have it all year long. While it’s great that John Astin is still around, it’s unfortunate that he’s the only remaining cast member. Puglsy played by Ken Weatherwax passed away by the end of 2014. And early this year, Lisa Loring who played Wednesday.
There was actually a Halloween movie special in the 70s I think long after the show was over. Most of the original cast came back in main or other parts. It wasn't bad. Check it out sometime.
Great Episode! I must say that watching Monster Madness is one of my Halloween traditions while at work having the show on. MM gives me those Halloween Nostalgia feels you mention at the start of the video. Looking forward to the reason of the month!
The Adams Family is a classic I remember It coming on the television back in the day. Especially in October It would be on different versions of It. There are many great Halloween episodes the original 1990's Power Rangers come to mind. Cool video. ^_^
You understand, I'm sure, that Lurch is meant to be a slightly-sideways version of the Frankenstein monster trope, and that's why he grunts, and shuffles, and is stoic and huge.
I miss Halloween commercials. You just don't see that kind of holiday special feel to things anymore. Those clips from Home Improvement were a real nostalgia bomb :D

Agreed I aspire to have a relationship as solid as Gomez and Morticia's someday.
Also agree. Didn't like how the Netflix Wednesday made Morticia her rival. No way the real Wednesday would talk to her mom the way she did in that woke version of the show
@@SerpentStar_come up with better arguments than 'woke', the Netflix show gives you better ammo than something that basic

At our elementary school Halloween party, we Bobbed for apples as one of our activities! Though, that was over 30 years ago...
In the midwest, we bobbed for apples when I was a kid and I remember my mom even having tricker treaters do it as they came on to the porch.
I'm just glad that Monster Madness is back.

The Addam's Family is by far my favorite FPS.
The Addams Family* there is no 's
otherwise you are saying the addam its family.
@@chrismeulen8108 Yes, certainly
Whenever I think of the Addams Family, I think of the 1990s film with Raul Julia as Gomez Addams and Christopher Lloyd as Fester.
The original TV series is worth a watch. It's one of my favorites.
9:16 I somehow never got that joke until just now, man I feel dumb
Roseanne, ABCs Dinosaurs and Home Improvement all had great Halloween eps in the 90s, i look forward to seeing which gets the spotlight most.
i'd bet on one of the Simpsons' Treehouse of Horrors tbh
7:52 Fun Fact - Ted Cassidy also provided the vocalized roars ifor Godzilla in the Hamna Barbara cartoon.
I remember bobbing for apples when I was reallllly young sometime in the early 90’s. It was a big blue cooler tub haha
This show is still so great to watch even today. I just love it.
It has aged so gracefully. I love finding streams of it here on TH-cam.
One of the best!
Indeed.

Little House on the Prairie has a fantastic Halloween episode. Mrs. Oleson gets beheaded.
I have a Halloween TV playlist on Plex. For my I Love Lucy episode, I use The Seance.
For the next monster madness James should review the hammer mummy series
Man I used to love watching Roseanne’s Halloween episodes.
They always had great costumes for the cast every year
Im a bit younger, 37, but recall bobbing for apples 3 times.

The great franchise that created the greatest game ever… fester’s quest.
Well unless you're the nerd. We all know how he feels about Fester's Quest.
They need to adapt that game.
I love cinnemassacre’s monster madness. It brings its own sense of nostalgia to my month. I watched all of these in the past.
we had some apple thingies in student parties couple times. unrelated to any halloween or xmas or anything.

Kind of a missed opportunity that The Munsters never had a crossover with The Adam's Family.

I’m pretty sure they had bobbing for apples at a cub scouts Halloween party I went to back in like 1999 or sometime around then…
Just been watching the munsters so will have to watch these now 😊
