      I know what you mean. In one of the channels I follow I was wondering why the guy was uploading so many spooky games videos (I had not seen the videos and they were just piling up) and then I realized it's because it's October.
      Nowadays that you can't tell one day from the other I didn't even realized October had come since there was no Monster Madness.

    • @Galantski
      @Galantski 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      _Jurassic Park_ is in what I'd call the "family horror" genre, like _Poltergeist._ Yes, it has horrific scenes, but there's an overall lack of overt blood & gore in the deaths that sanitizes them for family viewing. That, and the fact that the children in the original, while terrorized at times, come out unscathed at the end.

    • @samd2013
      @samd2013 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To this day I still feel that 70s horror is my favorite, mostly because the horror movies during that time are a bit more experimental and varied, its really hard for me to categorize all of them into one area as they all have different styles and tones that make them unique from each other. They can range from movies that have a dream-like quality to them with their music and atmosphere such as Suspiria and the 70s remake of Nosferatu or they can focus on a lower budget to give it its own creepy flair. Movies such as Halloween, Texas Chainsaw, Alice Sweet Alice, and Tourist Trap have this interesting "grimy" feel to them that can be only be done with that style of filmmaking.
    And that is the beauty of that era of horror, while the 60s are more associated with "Sci-fi B-movie" and the 80s are more focused on gore heavy slashers, the 70s on the other hand was a time in which there was really no set formula in making a horror movie, so as a result you see different directors show their own unique twist to the genre.

      @hockeyinalabama 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get how the 80s is slasher heavy, but it is the monster movies from the 80s that really did it for me. It was the peak, yet seemingly the end, of creature effects whether it be makeup, prosthetics, puppetry, etc. The 70s were a great lead up to that as well. Those are definitely my two favorite decades of horror.

She's dealing with the loss of a son, trying to keep life going, cheer herself up by getting some plastic surgery done but her son is plagued by either the ghost or a hallucinations of his dead brother who leads him to believe she's an imposter and after they all die in the fire at the end, you can see their spirits walking out into the fields.

      I would have trouble picking just one from the 70's, but I can't argue with Alien. That's just one of the best movies of any decade or genre.

    My all-time favorite horror film is Phantom of the Opera from 1925. Been my favorite since I was 9. Love it! Also, kinda shocked you guys didn't even mention The Conjuring in the 2010s. It's a lot better than some of the ones you did mention.
