Crowds in stadium Generally do these things especially during India Pakistan matches. Having said that we should not forget when Virat Kohli was heckled during 2017 Champion trophy by a Pakistani fan in stadium. Pakistani cricketers are treated very well every where in India and few slogans or people doesn’t represent Indian hospitality

I fully agree that the Ahmedabad stadium was horribly raucous and crude. However, it is line with a long held view among the Indian population that Pakistan has been asking for it. One glance at the text books used in Pakistani schools and the venom that the Madrassa students spew on TV will give you ample supporting evidence. All that has happened after the Modi Government came to power is a general feeling that people needn't waste their politeness on Pakistanis. They seem to deserve every bit of the 'bad manners' that Najam Sethi decries.
I can say something like this, I am a Pakistani, I went to India it is much more tolrent and advance. Every stadium is state of art and is way better than Pakistani cricket stadiums. Did not fee any discrimination. Our team carries the baggage of religon everywhere. In Pakistan we discriminate against miniorties too much.

There is one relevant question that Mr. Karan Thapar must ask. 'Why did they shout *Jai Shri Ram when only Mohammed Rizwan was returning to the pavilion and not the other players?'.
The interview is presenting one sided view. Also, anchor is reinforcing the Pakistani view. I would have preferred a balanced view. For example, why there is no talk of pak players doing namaz on ground? It might be ok in Pakistan but not in a sport without religion and boundaries.

Mr Thapar appeared to be a cheerleader for Pakistani arguments instead of challenging Mr. Sethi with facts like treatment of Indian teams in some fraught tournaments in Pakistan in the past, incendiary and provocative statements by Pakistani FM Bhutto in UN and elsewhere in recent times(and thus creating sentiments for the fans to latch on), and PCB chairman referring to India as enemy to his team during their departure from Pakistan.

During 2011 semifinal between India and Pakistan at Mohali, India has issued around 5000 visas to Pakistanis… unfortunately a few hundred didn’t go back to Pakistan… there is valid reason from Indian side not issuing visas…

Just one question what happened to 531 Pakistani fans that were given visas for coming to watch vanished in India. Few of them were caught later on for espionage and terrorism.

Mr Najam Sethi states that during the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, he asked Jay Shah of BCCI whether they & the Indian Govt would approve Visa's for 5000 Pakistani supporters, and the response was "no problem"...This is a Verbal approval...surely this ought to have been followed up with a written confirmation? How can an important matter such as Visas could be agreed verbally? And not by documentation by the respective governments?

Last time India gave visas to Pakistani cricket fans. 5000 of them went "missing". To this day a large number of these are still disappeared and location unknown. Better to have hurt Pakistani feelings than maimed Indian bodies. I have been watching cricket world cup since 1987, when we Indians hosted it successfully.
But the current edition 2023 is shorn of usual hysteria and massive crowd flocking the stadium. About 4 years ago, when it was held in England, I witnessed enthusiastic crowd with raucous elation to watch each and every game. Whereas the World Cup 2023 is a lacklustre edition sans charisma. Interestingly, the dour crowd mood is being attributed to the rise of T20 format, to escape the scrutiny on Jay Shah led BCCI, who have mismanaged the world cup. Amit Shah coming to watch Indo-Pak match at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is ludicrous as it was more a politics than a real passion for the Sports.
If Our Indian cricket team wins the World cup 2023, Amit-Modi due would use it as a factor in the run up to Election 2024.
