  • Welcome to another incredible Scottish mountain adventure by mountain bike.
    So much of our time on MTBs is spent hitting trails centres or riding planned mountain bike trails. It can be rare to actually take our mountain bikes up into the mountains but it is something I think we should all attempt.
    The journey, the views, the experience is all incredible.
    The highest mountains in Scotland are called the Munros. In this video we took our MTBs up to the Scottish Munro named Stuc a Chroin. Stuc a Chroin is a mountain in the Breadalbane region of the southern Scottish Highlands. It is a Munro, with a height of 975 metres (3,199 ft). It lies a short distance south of Ben Vorlich and east of Strathyre. The boundary between the council areas of Perth and Kinross and Stirling passes through the summit of the peak, and the town of Callander lies to the south.
    So what are you waiting for. Get those mountain bikes up into the mountains.
    If you are new to my videos then expect to see high quality riding vlogs shot in the same style as McTrail Rider, Paul the Punter and BKXC. I try to travel to the best MTB locations in Scotland finding you the best mountain biking trails.
    The video was shot on a GoPro Hero 10 mounted on the chin of an Endura MT500 helmet using a Gnartec mount.
    I am supported by Bird Cycleworks. Check them out at www.bird.bike/
    I am supported by Endura clothing. This is one of the most respected brands in the industry. To see why check out www.enduraspor...
    I am supported by Mudhugger. They make the best MTB mud protection out there! www.themudhugg...
    My bike is maintained by Bspoke Cycles Peebles. They offer insanely good service and I cannot recommend them enough. Check them out at bspokepeebles....

    Looks epic! Go-pro really doesn't show steepness at all, but you got a real sense of it in the moments you were off the brakes and could just see the rate at which you were gaining speed!

      Thanks David. Yeah, I feel like that was the giveaway. It would be such an awesome route to hit in the summer, I'm sure of it 👌

    Does it get cold in Scotland? I didn't realise that. If I join you for a ride next year I suggest a different one to this so called mtb track.😁

    Walking up to here from glen ample to Bein Each then to Stuc a croin on Wed, weather's ment to be good. Done Ben Vorlich before. Whilst all the time scoping a route for the eeb, which has just been changed to shiguras 👍👍 well done getting up there with a bike to start with

    Enjoyed that !
    Looks very much like the kind of riding ( big grassy hills) we do in the Cheviot Hills on the English / Scottish border ..albeit a good bit steeper .
    If those trails actually do dry out then it would be a cracking ride in the summer months ..but also looks like prime midge territory .
    Cheers Jaimie

    • @streetpigeonmtb
      @streetpigeonmtb  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. I think now might be the perfect time. Although that last bit will dry I reckon that section would be good without the high ferns... And less midge! What a place though 👌

    Class Jamie. Good to see you out exploring new untouched trails. I find these kind of days out can either go really good or really bad, looks like it went fairly well for you 👍🤟

    Brilliant video Jamie! Love a big day out in the mountains, especially at this time of year when everything seems a bit moodier.
    Been looking to do Stuc a Chroin from the Callander side, and then onto Ben Vorlich, and descend down to Loch Earn and loop back round via Glen Ample, might do it in reverse now though after watching this (and wait until summer!)

    • @streetpigeonmtb
      @streetpigeonmtb  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. That sounds like a monster loop, but deffo worth a try in the summer!

    • @whw2003
      @whw2003 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have done that route. The link between Stuc a Chroin and Ben Vorlich is really steep on both sides. I don’t think it’s rideable in either direction and you do loose quite a bit of height which smarts when you have to push the bike down as well as up.

    that was pretty wow! dude....nice work, nice riding, nice wee adventure!
    My local trails are like mini versions of that in some respects, similar terrain but shorter runs. (Old Kilpatrick Hills)

    • @streetpigeonmtb
      @streetpigeonmtb  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, spot on. I've ridden around the Old Kilpatrick Hills and they do have that open, grassy feel. Need to get back there at some point.

  • @sillyin2008
    @sillyin2008 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I had looked at that route last year but never went through with it. Was the shoulder pretty much all pushing? I noticed you never took your bike to the top, was this simply because of the weather or is it impossible to ride?

    • @streetpigeonmtb
      @streetpigeonmtb  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The shoulder is deffo hike a bike but the plateau is easy to pedal. So the push is from the wee shielding onto the plateau.
      I think you can ride down from the summit. There is a small boulderfiled but we found a track down when we descended on foot.
      We chose not to take the bikes right to the top as the wind was just too much.
      I think April would be the best time for the route as the tricky bit near the end wouldn't be as overgrown 👍
