Dont know much about hillclimbs. (shame on me being im from southern tier NY and grew up working at Broome -Tioga Nationals) How is it the am's are running so close to and sometimes faster times then the pro's?

Jack Mehoff some times the 1000s are over powered and harder to control. Most guys do go faster on the “smaller” bikes just because it’s more comfortable and lest throttle control. It varies from hill to hill.

I was watching a bunch of the vids from hill climbs in France and decided to look for some in the US.. Damn have to agree, these US hill climbs look way too tame in comparison. In fairness though, the US hill courses are probably by design easier as it's more about racing to get the best time vs the euro climbs are designed much tougher and are geared to be about whether you can simply make it to the top of the hill. From a spectator perspective I think the euro hill climbs are far more interesting to watch. I could be mistaken, there may very well be other US hill climbs similar to the French climbs.
