2022 Freemansburg Premier Class | AMA American Hillclimb Rd. 5 RAW Footage

- Round 5 of the AMA American Hillclimb Series was at this 500' hill in Freemansburg, PA. Rainy conditions made for an interesting day of racing, with all three of the class championship points tightening up by the end of the race.
This was the Premier Class, which comprised of custom dirt bikes with limited engine size limits, fuel type, and wheel type. Jay Sallstrom won this class on his nitro-powered Yamaha R1, with Austin Teyler finishing second on his RM-Z750 powered with nitromethane, and Logan Cipala finished third on his Buell HCR 1190.

Having ridden to the top of this hillclimb via the network of trails that the club maintains (on a trials bike) I can say the video does absolutely no justice for how steep and ridiculously tall this hill is. These guys have serious cojones for launching themselves up this hill!! Thanks for sharing the video.
This is a good little hill. Now watch the video's 📹 about the world championship hillclimb in Jackson Hole Wyoming a view! Again I'm definitely not denying this is a good track..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇲🤠
this hill is weak.. Go to France for the real hill climbes.

I rode my Harley to freemansburg back in the late 70’s and there was a 80 year old judge who rode a old Indian and he was slow as hell, but he made it to the top! The crowd went crazy!!!
The bikes are crazy, so much power 👍
I went to Freemansburg several times in the 70's, and one time I wangled a Press Pass, and stood on the hill, photographing the bikes as they flew by overhead! Lou Gerencer on his Harley, Earl Bowlby on his BSA, Williams on his Honda. Yep, the Good Old Days.

I love it when you got these guys that have 3 I r 4 crew members helping him at the start and takes for every to every leave and then wipes out about halfway up, and then you have a guy comes up by himself barely even stops at the start and takes off and rides all the way over the top like it was a Sunday afternoon cruise!!!!!!
When you went to hillclimbs in the 1950s, This video is quite entertaining. Nice track too. NOW, git up the hill..................

Looks way steeper in person.
I grew up in Easton and went to this a few times in the mid to late seventies as a kid.
I grew up in Bethlehem. I was there in the 80s.

You only realize how steep the hill is when someone falls over and rolls away. The power of some of these machines is beyond comprehension!
Can someone please explain the leaf blower use pre run?
It blows the nitro fumes away so the riders can get a few good breaths before the run.
Why do they all have leaf blowers?
Is that bike turbo'd at 11:10, sounds like u can hear turbo whistle and looks like there's charge pipe on the left kinda where radiators.are usually. That's sick. Also great vid but you should show the times a little more
These guys may have cojones, but when over 15 riders ascend it successfully, it tells us that it isn't as hard as you think..
In the 80's it would be a handful at most that would make it. I believe it is the advancement of the bikes that is making it possible for more to get to the top. I have been to the top on a few occasions on dirt bikes.(going up the down trail)There's nothing easy about that hill.

What kind of motors are they running on the this hill climb and are they turbocharged or supercharged or just normally aspirated
I believe they use sport bike motors, probably 750cc+

At least some of these are running nitromethane fuel

I seen this guy with a stock Harley-Davidson go up that hill😮
bike at 2:30 made me feel weird, it sounded like a 2 stroke while idling but once it got climbing it sounded like a 4 stroke

I’m an old top fuel fan and they ran eight cylinder with that in their face with respirators. Best fuel but it sure kills your eyes and nose.

Unlike the two-stokes if you get off the pipe, a 4 stroke pinned to the rev limiter doesn't exactly tend to bog down does it

The flag Guy is part of their state-of-the-art timing light system.
So many don't know how to even ride a motorcycle making novice mistakes on expensive machinery. I cringe many times at how bad they ride....

Like a peewee battery operated blower is going to make any difference. Maybe let off the throttle when in the air. Clean your goggles before being ready to ride.

Look at this guy number 2, 3 of them at the start holding his bike while he is fixing his goggles, like he hasn't known for last 30 minutes when his turn was and waited until it was time to take off from the start line to adjust his goggles and yeah you made it but no one was impressed, hope you didn't mess your hair putting on your helmet!!!!!!!!
Amazing talent building these machines. Whoever's in the pits should take some of the rebel flag wavers to the side and have a small private chat about morality. Great show!
