- This was a trip of a lifetime to go see one of our best friends and favorite rider compete against American Hillclimb's best riders. This was my experience at the event from my point of view.

Man, I didn’t make it there this year on account of working overseas. But this has got to be the best coverage I’ve ever seen of this event. You covered all aspects, provided great angles, and captured the overall essence spectacularly. You sir, are the man! 👍🏍🏁

There was nothing about the portaloos, which were exceptional this year.

I was on your side until the video hit the 10 minute mark where you could see how steep the hill actually is
It's a time based competition, everyone is expected to finish the track. Different thing than the hillclimb with impossible tracks you and me thought before seeing this.

Go watch other hillclimb events where no one makes it up an When they loop out the mountains so steep the bike tumbles back all the way down an gets DESTROYED LMAO . One video there's dudes on the sides strapped in lines to catch people just in case they don't go tumbling down the hill too. Those events are better to watch lol

I'm 43 seconds in and that hill looks like the one my 8 year old daughter rides up everyday. That's just a test hill. Hell,....crawlers go up WAY steeper hills than that. Dude down here that said "Grandma's Staircase"??🤣🤣👍Nice one.

You can always tell people that are ignorant and have never been around steep hillsides and a camera because the camera ALWAYS makes it look way, way less steep. Same as waves on water!
Oh please, many of us have been on these hills or at least have seen many hills on video. The FACT of the matter is when every single solitary rider can make it up the hill it's a lame ass hill.
Fun to watch. But not what I'd call a hill climb. I haul firewood up hills way steeper and longer.

Is this in portangalis Washington?? If so that hill had changed a lot in twenty five years raced there in the 90s used to be a nasty hill yes it's steep but all groomed for speed used to need to be a amazing Rider even to make the top !!!

I guess since Miller Lite was the sponsor. They were afraid of someone drinking and getting hurt. So they used the tamest hill they could find.

Man that hill used to be way steeper they have cut it down over the years now it's not even a hill they fucked it up used to only a couple people made it up now every one does

Learn to PAN slowly and smooothly with your video devise, do not jerk your hands, also when covering PRINT take the time to read the signage yourself, thereby guaranteeing you have given the average person adequate span to read. Do not jerk your hands.
Well have to admit was not expecting such a weak Hill. I mean c'mon my Chinese pit bike with the clutch slipping could still have made it up that little hill.....🤔🤣🤣🤣 I just don't understand the point of this event? Is this event just for fun? ? ? I must admit out of all the videos I have ever watched on hill climbing this has got to be the smallest hill to date... Sorry guys this hill is what you would call pathetic. Watch those nutjobs in Switzerland or Germany or even Russia I've seen. Now those guys are goin' up hills youd just look at and say,...."oh yeah. Not even gonna start the bike boys. Any good strudel bakerys around fellas??? ".

Not what I was expecting for a Hillclimb. More of a Hill Drag. But def looks fun.
That's exactly what it is. Try hauling freight over those jumps at really high speed and you'll start to understand the difficulty.
So obviously no one has any idea what kind of event this is. Yes, a beginner could get up this hill with a 110 cc bike, but try timing it. Won't be 10 seconds let alone 7or 8
People want to see a HILL CLIMB not an easy drag race

For the record I'm sure you're right, I couldn't come close to those times but what I could or couldn't do is neither here nor there, the fact still remains for the people that DO hill climb there is NO challenge for them in getting up this anthill.
@@Johnnywhamo it's also not difficult to drive a car down a 1320 foot straight, flat, and smooth stretch of concrete. That's fine if you want to watch a Pikes Peak hill climb, but the drag strip is not the place to go and then complain that anybody in a Prius could do that. Same idea with this video. The point isn't that it's challenging to climb this hill. The point is trying to do it as fast as possible.

Been there three times nearly 20 years ago, used to be pretty crazy, the 4 cylinder nitro bikes were dominant then and there were some crashes
This is more of an uphill race than a real hillclimb. Hardly as exciting to watch as a difficult hill.

I wish I could understand more of this sport other than the hill climb/race. Like when someone is doing certain things to their bikes in preparation or why they have a small leaf blower blowing on the guy before he takes off. And what happens behind the scenes. Pretty cool stuff though. I wish I had grown up around this kinda stuff. Great video.

If you can stand on the hill it ain’t steep enough. A good hill starts at 45 deg and goes to around 80deg .
