Shima’s story: Shima sat at the bar in the city of nomads, listening to them speak about the Ashlands, and how the crusade, and the holy nation along with it, where encroaching on the area of no return. That’s when, to her surprise, a skeleton sat in front of her. Skeleton: “hello shima. You may not know me, but me and my fellows know you. I am Joseph-0251, and while my programming try’s to prevent what I’m about to do, as I am going against the great library and risking its discovery, I am compelled to make sure you know what’s in there, and to attempt to convince you to turn around, for if you go to far you shall awaken that which need not be awakened. Cat-Lon. The mad emperor. The exiled one. He had many names, and while some are not known any longer, you must not awaken him. You puny humans won’t be able to destroy him.” Shima: “okay buddy, one question. Who, in all of okrans enemies, are you? You expect me to believe you because you say you’re from a library, in which I’ve never heard about, and because you claim to know what we face in the Ashlands? Sorry if I’m skeptical, but I don’t believe you at all.” Joseph-0251: “understandable, the great library does not try to dissuade you, or give away misinformation, as we keep everything to the truth of history. However, it is not always as we hope it to be, and other nations would prefer we keep our secrets and true history hidden away forever, for nations know of us. The untied cities, at least one Nobel in the shek kingdom, a couple holy nation paladins who successfully fought and destroyed Joseph-0001, the first model, and now you. Congratulations, please do not tell anyone about us, or we will resort to violence.” Shima: “we?” Joseph-0251: “of course. There is about 927 of us left, the ones who haven’t gone mad, destroyed, or integrated into the great library. The first is gone, as is many others, most from the holy nation. We are a dying breed of the skeleton. One of us even became a Skin-Bandit, although he’s long been destroyed. We did that ourselves. We do not tolerate those abominations, even if we don’t have the numbers for them all, we could still take out a renegade.” Shima: “if what you’re staying is true, you have a small army, ready to be commanded.” Joseph-0251: “we cannot be commanded anymore, since the first is gone. All that is left is our independence and our basic program to collect, add, and defend the library. We are in decline. Most of us have even begun to lose control over our iron spiders and other servants.” Shima laughed then. This skeleton was mad, just like many she met before. He was a rusty relic, clinging to older times. She knew his type. She got up from the bar, realizing that she spent way to long there, and that bob and Aga will be wondering were she was. Shima: “while I can’t say this was fun, or interesting in the slightest, I thank you for you warning, and I hope you manage to overcome the madness.” With that, and a sputtering skeleton, shima left the bar and started back to where the construction of a holy nation outpost was beginning, known as Okrans spear. Aga’s (Fan’s) story: Fan: “not there!! Watch out, building materials incoming! Paladin Sin, watch your head, your helmet is there to protect you from accidents in battle, not to protect you from falling materials weighting more than a bull!” Bob: “shush Aga, they will figure it out. Eventually. Paladin Sin may have to die first, but they will.” Fan reluctantly quieted, a little unhappy. Making sure that the paladins didn’t die while the servants tried to make a home for all of them was hard work, especially when they though that they could stand under a great ton of building materials and not expect the servants holding them up in place to eventually drop it on them, but that was paladins, idiots with swords. Fan: “you sure they all graduated from the holy churches?” Bob: “unfortunately yes. I was there when they were chosen for this mission and many of them each had some great title or another. Like paladin Sin, known as “Shek’s bane” or Paladin Desmond, known as “Hiver’s Horror” Fan: “you’re all very creative with titles arnt you? What does yours even mean, Bob ShadowFlame?” Bob: “it means I’m the flame hidden by shadow, okrans flame hiding and keeping the ones truly in the light safe and secure. We walk a fine line between darkness and light. That is what my title means, young Aga, and eventually you and your sister may also earn it, one day.” Fan: “I doubt Shima would be proud of it, at any rate. She just wants to live and not get killed in a horrible way, same as me. Although I need to die first, as I’m the firstborn.” Bob: “ you have a strange outlook on life, my friend.” Fan: “you do as well, Bob.” Great episode as always Pat, and I will say, I do enjoy my stories, especially when I get to add on my own little lore, like where my characters are all coming from and why they are known, which is because they are all recorded in the Great library, entrusted into the care of Joseph-0001, a skeleton with control over his others, and all his mechanical servants.
Great story Joseph! I dont know why but the Fan: “I doubt Shima would be proud of it, at any rate. She just wants to live and not get killed in a horrible way, same as me.
