Excellent Video. In using a keyboard that has only headphone 1/4 output there is a caution in using the headphone splitter identified in this video. I bought the 1/4 splitter so I could run one line to the interface and one to the headphones. Plugged in the adpater to the keyboard output. Headphones worked fine. Then plugged in the a single unbalanced 1/4 typical guitar cord from the splitter to the interface. Surpirse, your headphones will now be producing sound in only ONE headphone. I then bought another splitter. Same issue. It isn't the splitter. It is the cable you run from the splitter to the interface. I then bought a balanced 1/4 phono cable. Now I have stereo in the headpones and the interface is working as always. Great Midi signal. If you use a 3.5 headphone output I do not know if that will have the same problem. 1/4 balanced cables are more money and always have a second ring on the plug that alerts you that you are using a stereo cable. This series is wonderful for GB and electronic music recording in general. I learned quite a bit over the year from it. The MIDI and Audio connection video is priceless for getting both MIDI and Audio from my keyboard into GB.

I have an IPad and an iPhone with a Roland Go Keys like you mentioned, I connected my keyboard to my (GarageBand) iPhone with Bluetooth, is it possible to connect my keyboard to my IPad as well but using a lightning usb with an android cord to the keyboard (usb), when i tried it out the keys from the Roland Go Keys on keyboard kept playing loud (I wanted GarageBand) with Roland piano sample keys going off when I press the key, how does the keyboard connect to IPad with headphones with only the GarageBand samples sounds being heard when I press the keys?❤ wonderful video by the way🎉

My question is, I will be connecting with the Voker from the usb port of a Yamaha Genos directly to the Ipad Mini 2, but you often make reference to the Ipad needing it's own power source, but how can I do this if the Voker plugs directly into the only port that I also use for recharging, or can I assume that power is being supplied from the MIDI keyboard to the Ipad if connected in this way? Can you also please tell me if this would also work with FL Studio? Many thanks in advance

I press record and in my monitor headphones off the keyboard I. hear nice rich sounds. But if you want to use it as a MIDI controller, then you need to have your headphones plugged into your computer or audio interface (if you are using one) to hear what is going on in Garageband

Thank you for an exceptionally clear and helpful review of all the options. I’ve got a Vox Tonelab SE multieffects floorpedal. If I connect this to a Mac by one of the methods you suggest, will I be able to edit patches onscreen? I’m guessing this depends on the availability of an app and, given the age of the Vox I assume I’d need something generic. Any advice?

Hmm, I think you will only be able to edit patches if there is some librarian software available for that device. But I don’t know it in detail. Certainly if you connect it up, you should be able to use it to control other virtual sounds on your computer, I would have thought. You may have to go and scour the Vox site support portal for more detailed assistance on this.

Music Repo So kind of you to reply. I will do as you suggest. But the unit is excellent as it stands so I’ll manage even if the editing options are limited. Wishing you every success with the site!

Hello. I have an ipad pro and also a Nord C1 organ keyboard. The Nord has midi in out and also the USB port but i am not sure if the usb will accept midi. I have ordered the Irig Midi 2 interface but before I buy the B-3X app for ipad which is expensive, I need to know if my ipad will connect to the Nord C1 as a controller keyboard.

I don't know this keyboard, and it is no longer available. I don't think it has any MIDI out or USB MIDI? So I don't know if you can use it as a controller?
