The blood drop on Rita’s wedding dress in S3 finale was foreshadowing.
Probably one of the biggest tragic moments that got to me on tv. All that hope and love Dexter had, gone

Ugh, those chilling words still haunt me till this day.
I love masuka and it was always heartbreaking to hear you be so put off by his character in the early seasons. He is just so unapologetically himself and I’ve always felt like that’s something to admire. Not to mention the way his adorably pure heart juxtaposes his filthy mind is just so endearing. Glad to see you’ve come around on him!
In fact, when Dexter caught Arthur he had already found Rita, there was probably an interval between him finding Debra's house and Dexter's house, it just wasn't shown. So much so that Arthur was already at peace, and even said to Dexter: "It's already over", meaning that Rita had already been taken from him, but he didn't notice.
Yes, one of the saddest deaths on television -- can Dexter ever walk in the light after that ....
not really --- Rita was too sugary and self-absorbed. never found her character interesting, esp compared to Dexter , his sis and Angel. What an amazing actor Lithgow is too -- such a sleezebag LOL
also came to mind as I was watching: they can figure out the cities where the kidnappings/kills would have been made in the past, and there might be records of what house that group built, which means the authorities will probably be showing up with equipment to scan the foundation, and letting the homeowners know that they've been living on top of a kidnapped/murdered child for years. Ugh.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the series. I think it's a bit of a rollercoaster, but maybe you'll have better viewing
"fucking Debra" is such an insignificant quote but easily one of my favorites of all time 😂. Lots of people will tell you that the rest of the show isn't as good, while I agree that season 4 is probably the best it doesn't mean the other seasons are bad. A season of Dexter that's "not as good" as season 4 is still more than likely better than the "really good seasons" of some others shows. I very sure you will enjoy the whole ride. Oh and PLEASE try not to read the comments as much, people are spoiling the hell out of the rest of the show.
Seasons 1, 2, and 5 are my favorites! But I also love 7. Most choose 4. While I liked it as I watched it I find it the hardest season for me to enjoy on a RE watch, cause we know all the mistakes Dexter makes that led up to Rita's death. Now that you have probably watched season 5 ep 1 I can tell you I cried and cried when I watched it.
2 is my favorite, then 1 and 3. 4 was ok but definitely not one of my favorites, probably one of my least favorites. 2 just never gets old, i can rewatch that season and never get tired of it.
I felt the same way about S4. I liked it at first but not on re-watch.

I liked this season less on re-watch. I like the season 5 cast.
Be prepared for an onslaught of viewers telling you that Dexter sucked after this season or that it went downhill. Some truly believe it, and that’s fine, it’s their opinion. However, many of the critics were just huge fans of Rita’s character and hated the rest of the series regardless. I loved her character as well, so I get it.
I enjoyed every season of Dexter, along with the reboot. It’s great entertainment. The following seasons are a bit different and I found it refreshing, more than anything else.
I can see why some fans lost interest because plot changes, as well as writing, shifted drastically. I didn’t mind it though.
Basically, ignore the critics and ignore the fanatics as well. Go in with an open mind and take it for what it is.
It had already started downhill from the end of Season 2.
Ending was shocking and most didn't expect it. You should react to the whole series even though season 8 is the weakest.

I can't even remember S7 and I hated S8.
I think season 4 is the most overhyped piece of television ever. I think it's like MGS2 (video game, who played they know) - pretty bad game, but got great reviews and players then started wondering 'okay, maybe I don't get this greatness and I'm just dumb? I'll give it a 9/10 too'. And it's kind of like that with season 4. It's not bad, but it's definitely not nearly as strong as they hype around it.
BTW, maybe you will give Hannibal (TV show) a shot too? ;)

I agree that Hannibal is a great show but it's also you could make a case that its overhyped as well.

You don't know much about history of video games, hmm? Please, read a bit about it. How it was initially received. How people were pointing out how everything, when Raiden appeared, was different and out of place, when it comes to MGS series. How Kojima was forced to do things he didn't want to, so he did some elements in a way, he hoped people would hate.
Maybe I should rephrase that - it's not a bad game per se, but it was pretty bad MGS, especially for the time of its release. Maybe you're too young to know how people reacted back then.
Polish youtuber, NrGeek made a whole video about MGS2, I think there are English subtitles, so you might check it, if you want to.
As for Hannibal, I don't know if it was ever even hyped, let alone overhyped. It has fans, sure, but I don't know if it's as big and mainstream as Dexter.

Everything discussed is opinion so I'm not sure what you mean about saying my opinion I'm trying to find specifics on why you present that loaded statement that people just gave good reviews to MGS 2 just because they were dumb lol where is your evidence for this.
Your still very vague on specifics on why its a bad MGS game the things you wrote dont make it a bad game I don't deny that it's not my favorite metal gear game but it certainly was revolutionary when it came out and it's a lot of fun hence why it was and still is rated very highly even if it is outdated in gameplay standards due to the game coming out in 2001.
I'm not saying Hannibal is as popular as Dexter it's not but it was well received by media in terms of reviews and Matts Milkkensen performance was highly praised so it certainly was not underhyped.

No. Next season is still very good. I'd argue it's better. If you deconstruct this season, there are lots of small details that don't make sense if you start thinking about them. Saying 'only season 1-4 are good' is just repetition without actual opinion.
Anyway Michal, there's still next season, season 7 is still pretty good too.
@Michał Cieślak What are you talking about? I never said that it wasn't still good after this season because it is so I'm not sure where you got that from. Season 5 is actually probably the most underrated season of the 9 they made and is fun the whole way through. The only season that felt watered down was season 8
Don't say that. Season 7 had one of the best villains. Isaac was smoothe.

I almost stopped watching after season 4 ending. But I actually think 5-8 was better than 1-4
