I'm SOOOOO glad you are loving season 5 like I do! I understand how you felt about the "love" scene. But, it is really beautiful because after what Lumen has been through, the last thing she might want is intimacy. Remember when Owen hugged her she flinched. But, in this scene there are no words. The feelings are all shown in their faces. He "says" are you sure? He would never have made the first move. She "says" I'm sure. It really is so well acted.
How can anyone deny that Dexter and Lumen are meant for each other? Lumen accepts Dexter as he is and Dexter has proven he will be a very good father, parent and husband.
why shouldnt they sleep together? if Lumen feels comfortable why not. may even be healthy for her to have a safe sexual experience. so she doesn't just connect sex with the horrors

If I am reading you right, you were unhappy that Dexter and Lumen appeared to be bonding over the murder, but I didn't take it that way. I took it as she felt a release from her trauma and her pain. In other words, rather than adding excitement, it was releasing pain. She could breathe and finally experience a positive emotional connection.
Not that. Just an initial gut feeling that it's not the right time 😄 I do talk about the meaning of it all in the next video. Season finale, woo hoo!

This was the only season where I liked Quinn

I love this season. And the scene where Dexter beats up Olivia's dad is one of my favorite scenes. From the WHOLE show. I think it this scene, and the whole season, was great character development for Dexter. While in the beginning of the show Dexter was just like 'I'm a psycho I'm a psycho', he slowly found a way to connect with someone.
He never got a proper treatment for his trauma or any treatment to be honest, so it's not hard to believe it would be difficult for him to establish actual, meaningful, strong relationships. I was glad this season showed (through Astor, Olivia and Lumen especially) that Dexter is very much so capable of more.
I also love Lumen. I don't know why, but she was always my favorite love interest for him.
As for their sex scene... I'm not sure, but I guess it was her taking control of her life back again? It was kind of more about that, not being afraid anymore. More than her bond with Dexter, which is kind of undeniable.
And yeah, I totally agree. This story is the 'worst', meaning the most evil one. It's really sick and horrifying. Darker than anything before or after.
In episode 9 it is so cool that when Dexter arrives at the parking lot to confront the stepdad, the music playing is "Mack the Knife" in spanich LOL!
