This anthem was written by Ananda Samarakoon, who is a Sri Lankan student of Shanthi Niketan and Rabindranath Tagore. Many Indians think Tagore wrote this, but this was written by student of Shanthi Niketan. Melody and first singing is also by Mr. Ananda Samarakoon. He suicided because later governments changed original anthems lyrics. This is the original recording of 1949 with the voice of Ananda Samarakoon. That's wrong. Sri Lanka National Anthem was written by Ananda Samarakoon. Rabindranath was one of his teacher. He studied music few years under rabindranath. He wrote national anthem after he came back to Sri Lanka.
