Thank you for the great video Westin. Hey, the link above seems to have some problems, it won't pull up. I would appreciate it if you could repost it so I can get one or a few of these flies. I looked for Game Changers flies but could not find one that resemble the one in your video. Thanks bud!!!
The non slip loop knot! It’s the best and only knot to tie with flies. It adds a beautiful bounce/jigging action to the fly and it’s great. Loads of videos on how to tie it.
Absolutely love the fly fishing content! Making me wanna purchase a whole new set up! And the game changers are just that!!! Those new set up are a work of art!
Dude you’re a natural, your form needs some work but I’ve never seen anyone pick up a FR and hammer them as fast as you have. Really cool man! Btw tippet is what you tie to your leader. Separate things. It basically allows you to extend the leader after you’ve lost some. The old school leavers were 6-8 different size tippets tied to tapper down. So you had a bunch of knots, now it a smooth long tapered leader. Facts. Ha, love you’re stuff man.
Thank you! To be honest I rarely ever cast overhead to create the best loop, I’m almost always at an angle casting along the bank or under trees so I bet getting the proper form isn’t in my future 🤣🤣🤘🏼 I have used tippet and handful of times throwing the light stuff but never anything heavy. This was straight 20lb fluoro right to the fly line, but maybe you’re referring to a comment I made in a previous video?
Really good to watch you fly fishing I do it here in the Carolinas and people kind of laugh at me but I catch some really big fish fishing 8 and 10 weight outfits get yourself a fly called a plantation crab and fish it you won't believe how the bass will hit it 👍🐟
I’m about to go fly fishing and it seems so much fun you are definitely the best fly fishing TH-camr all the other ones are too serious your a lot more fun and exciting to watch 🔥 🔥 🔥
Who cares if you know what your doing or not, we are all out there because we share a common love for fishing. Stop bashing others for their styles or lack of knowledge and instead help educate your fellow man and women to help better us as a society in whole! Keep up the good videos bud!
Look up the Kreh loop knot, Simple to tie. Try using that 8wt and save that 10wt for salmon or baby tarpon. I use an 8wt for my Cailf stripers. By water loading it should throw any size streamer, including that game changer (which throws like wet sock!). Your casting is getting noticeably better;. You get out near the Calif delta in Oct-Nov look me up. I'll get you in my boat and we will chase some stripers. Had one on 3 weeks ago (with an 8wt) that we guessed at 40lbs plus. After 20 minutes just spit the fly.
Awesome tip! I tie small Clouser minnow flies and give them to my friends to use for white bass with their spinning rods..just add a split shot 1 foot up the line, works great! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍🎣
Great video…out here in Oregon on the Columbia River we have superb smallmouth bass fishing and I have a buddy who is a bass ninja and he always says…”just because they are called smallmouth doesn’t mean they don’t eat!”…they crush huge flies and top water lures, even 10” long…pretty sure that fly would work on the smallies as well!
Some of those small lakes may not have a lot of fish, but they are all big. There was a lake like that in Virginia where I grew up. Loads of panfish and a few giant bass. Every one I caught was in the 6 to 10 lbs. range.
Itd be so cool to fly fish with ya! I fly fish all the time and absolutely love it. I catch some good bass . Awesome vid!🔥 the content just gets better and better
Love saltwater fly fishing except trying to cast off a cliff in a strong wind, I've a scierra big game #10 that handles 100ft+ casts no problem and I've got some 10mm articulated shanks guess I'll be trying to tie one 😂
Great content. You are doing great for a beginner. I really like how you show in your videos all of the information about fly fishing. If I new someone wanting GG to get into fly fishing I would have them watch your videos.
🤣🤣🤣🙌🏼 to be fair…. This was never the intention! We were just gonna grab one, maybe 2 combos so Devin and I could try it out and then BAYUM 💥…. somebody went and showed me these sick game changers 😆 and we needed a bigger setup. And that was the end of our budget 🤷🏻♂️
Another 🔥 video! Gotta try the double handed retrieve. It keeps the bait in the strike zone longer when they miss. Keep the fly vids coming. Not many good bass fly fishing TH-camr’s out there.
Thanks bud! I only pulled one sub and couple views from ya tho…I’m looking forward to seeing the Strypers on the fly…. That’s something ide like to do this coming year.
Dude, I caught a 7-pound bowfin on a fly rod it's my new PB on the fly rod and I got him on a clouser minnow. The fight was so much fun and it was upwards to a 6-minute fight.
All the fly fishing for bass video on TH-cam are just wooly buggers and popper. But most people that fly fish for bass a lot use bigger and better baits. Awesome seeing someone do it right.
Instant sub first video I watch from you and man was it good I'm getting into flyfishing and getting my 5, 7, 8 back into the water and the content and early catch on a new set up was killer keep it up thank you for sharing
Hey I’m heading out to Dallas over christmas, do you have any spots? I’ve been watching your content for about a year and I’m so glad you started fly fishing, I’ve been fly fishing for over a year, but I’m getting a new outfit and would like to try it out over christmas break in Dallas ! Love your content!
Thanks awesome, enjoy no your stay!! There’s ponds all over the place, depends on where you are. I would just use fishbrain app and find the closest one to you.
Awesome video! I subscribed. I live in Fredericksburg, 20 miles from Chase. Really great guy. He got me into tying Game Changers..and it has literally been a game changer! I’ve caught some huge bass on them up to 8lbs. Will catch bigger..if I can just put it in front of them.😅 Have a great one! Best wishes for Big fishes! 👍👍🎣
It’s interesting that you had the notion of fly fishing being boring haha. Ever since switching over to fly fishing I have completely abandoned all my spin gear.
Great Video!!! but the whole concept looks like way too much work for Me!! and the Reels!! $298-$398.00!!! No Way Man!! You keep making these vids and I'll keep watching, how's that?? LOL!!! Merry Xmas!!!
I use $30-$40 Aventik or Piscifun reels on Amazon. $150-$200 TFO rods. Catch lots of huge bass and carp, and won two local tournaments (so far). Get a nice rod and good line, but don’t worry too much on the reel unless going for saltwater fish. 🎣👍
Fly fishing is the original/normal way to catch bass/other fish. The spinning reel was invented in 1870 to cast larger flies and the bait caster was invented in the mid17 century. Fly fishing was around near the end of the 2nd century in Rome. Technology has somewhat changed fly fishing but the idea is still the same.
def not new or a game changer since these been out for years so stop with the clickbait Man U can make great content without making clickbait u could have just said "New Style of fly catches a Tank". I rather have that then say game changer that word is played out.
Game Changer is the name of the fly. Blane Chocklett invented it. They work..catch Huge fish! Kind of expensive, so I tie my own. Give em a try..use a strip set..and hang on! 🎣👍😅

I can’t find the fly you used in the video
Hey man, I’ve been doing it for 4 years, and if someone roasts u for ur skill, ur a beginner man, tell the to eat it! Take it easy on ur self
Welcome to the light , now every fish is a fight of a lifetime
The non slip loop knot! It’s the best and only knot to tie with flies. It adds a beautiful bounce/jigging action to the fly and it’s great. Loads of videos on how to tie it.
Just watched a video on how to tie that one. Thanks!!
PICKING UP SOME GAMECHANGERS NOW. That looks like way too much fun man. My 10wt combo just arrived.
You finna tear em up haha!!!
And now you know why I through a 10WT for large mouth bass.
Game changers live up to there name. ;)
Absolutely love the fly fishing content! Making me wanna purchase a whole new set up! And the game changers are just that!!! Those new set up are a work of art!
Dylan it’s so much fun after getting the basics down!!
Awesome catches! That is a huge fly, cool action with that fly, in the swimming pool!
Nice bass ! I've been flippin flies since the mid 1970s and it's always a blast to catch bass of any size.
ha........ those flies are INSANE
My first fly rig is in the mail now, thank you for this. Going into it I know I'm fishing those types of flies. Love soft jerkbaits 🤙
Dude you’re a natural, your form needs some work but I’ve never seen anyone pick up a FR and hammer them as fast as you have. Really cool man! Btw tippet is what you tie to your leader. Let me know what you catch on them!!
What’s your exact set up from rod, reel, line and pound test
Like, right on!!! 😃👍🏼
Those flies look really good underwater. I just imagine all those big trout. You know, dreams do come true 😁🎣

I’ll look at those ASAP! Thanks Charles 👊🏼
What tapered leaders do you use man, preferably the ones pre made?
Westin any chance can you recommend a fly rod and reel set up for bluegill and small bass never fly fished idk what to get
I like a 4 wt for small flies on panfish . A 7wt for medium flies and an 8 wt or 10wt for big flies .
Great job Westin! I would also like to know which fly rod that is in this video thank you!
You are killin it with all the fly fishing, loving it!! I don't see anyone else on youtube putting out this type of awesome content.
Thank you, More in the works!!
Maybe a non slip loop knot for that knot?
Also man, we got good fly fishing for reds here near me!
Oh snap!!! Gotta get together one of these days man 🤘🏼 and yeah that loop knot is the one it sounds like
@@WestinSmith yeah you’ve got me inspired 😂I’m picking up a new fly reel and rod soon myself

Have you looked into Sixgill fishing, they have some nice looking fly fishing reels AND they’re out of Southlake Carroll too
I have but never their fly gear!

I've heard that right at sunset try a tan one instead. Haven't had a chance to try it yet. Great stuff.
I gotta break out the smaller one then. I’ll try it
why did you get run off of the pond? Trespassing or lake not allowed to be fished?
Lol you said delicate hand wash only 😅😅. Great set up
I love these flies
Inside Tip. I placed 8th out of 34 boats fishing these like a Texas Rig bullet on Casting gear this passed year in the Finger lakes
Awesome tip! I tie small Clouser minnow flies and give them to my friends to use for white bass with their spinning rods..just add a split shot 1 foot up the line, works great! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍🎣
Now U are a pro
Loving the Fly content. There is no doubt you have a fish on when using swimbait style lures/flies.
Thanks Sam!!

Everything isn't insane and wild especially little 1 lb bass so chill out dude
Why couldn't you just put a real swimbait on it??
Loop not for sure with changers
Can you please just fish for bass normal? Our good at fishing if you would just bass fish normal
In fly fishing these are actually semi normal… you mean just use baitcasters? I’m confused 😅
Fly fishing is the original/normal way to catch bass/other fish. The spinning reel was invented in 1870 to cast larger flies and the bait caster was invented in the mid17 century.
