As someone who switched to Resolve in 2019, I can say that the team at Blackmagic Design have done a wonderful job at listening to the community. Thank you for saving us from the corporate greed of Adobe.
What am I missing? 19 is still behaving exactly the same for me...colors don't match from fusion to edit to color pages just as before when using color management.
Wow! Fusion not following the project's color management was the one thing keeping me from diving deeper into color management. I'm a total color nOOb and was watching a bunch of videos on the topic of color management and was starting to get into it, then I found out Fusion ignored the color management and at that point, I never went any further with it. That is super cool!
I've watched your videos for a while, and I love what you do, but here... you are sooooo far above me that I can't process it, but I'll go back and get the released version and figure it out. BRAVO to YOU!!!
OMG REFERENCE COMPS ARE THE BEST THING EVER. Fucking finally!!! The amount of proceduralism that's been lacking with Fusion.... wow. Absolute game changer. I'm in love.
Some useful additions for sure. OMG Just looked into all the other stuff you didn't even mention.... this is a HUGE update with tonnes of great things!
Your picture is in the lower left corner. It’s better in the blank space in the upper left corner, at least in the early portion. Glad you are excited. Looks like an improvement.
Jesus, I just watched Alex's video and I thought this would be similar with just your personality instead. But no, MORE new cool stuff. DR19 is going to be so great!
11:13 that's probably one of the best features they've added in Fusion 19, although before I was using the letterbox node to do the same thing, now it would require no extra nodes.
All this time looking at my new tablet, I had no idea they dropped this. Scale to source looks great! Hard to explain, but does it crop stuff? Previously, I'd have stuff that got planar transformed to the point you could see where the borders cut off. If this lets you use huge images with no cropping or issues, that makes things much easier.
Great meeting you at NAB. I'm just now watching this (I've also watched some other vids about DR19), and the Referenced Comp feature is the first one that actually made me say "Holy shit!" out loud.
i have the Resolve Studio, and i'm really interested in learning that Magic Mask feature... i played around with it for a while, but i still don't know how to use it properly... i want to learn how to remove people and text from certain still images and move them over to different still images
I was going to be the first to watch this 😊 Edit after watching: Jeez, I am finally feeling like it's time for to fully drop After Effects and focus on Fusion 😊
Those PolyLine and Reference Comp features had me shouting like that diner scene from When Harry Met Sally. Also nice Fatboy Slim reference at the end. It’s “funk soul brother”, took me a long time to learn what he’s actually saying.
What a great video. I've just started using DaVinci Resolve to edit my videos. (Yes I'm a total noob on everything) I really enjoy this software however, I really don't think I'll get used to all the amazing features
Damn that scale to source thing is exactly what I needed months ago and had no idea how to fix it back then so I just changed what I was doing cuz I couldn't find the answer to it ahaha.... amazing.
Thank you so much for the overview! These are exciting news. I am thrilled about the volumetric clouds. ( I had once the idea to import a 3d cloud I created in Blender into fusion - was like banging head against wall for hours - found no way) I think all of the new feature are fantastic and will be great to explore: what are the possibilities to manipulate, light, reshape the clouds for example?
Hey Casey. How are you? I'm using Davinci 18.6, and have loaded a clip in the media pool. However, for some reason, it's NOT loading or permitting me to put it on the Timeline. It's a PNG file, so should work like the others I've already loaded in the timeline. Can you give some advice? I'd also like to thank you for doing videos on Davinci Resolve as I was formerly using Openshot, and this Davinci Resolve is head and shoulders better.
I want to run something past you. I want to create a reusable asset- lets say a custom lower third. It will have a text element and a graphical element that will both be replaceable in the final project. I know how to do all of that in fusion. But I want it to have an embedded sound (that won't change). The sound effect will be synchronized with the motion graphic so I don't have to mess with it. I'm pretty sure I can do this in AE, How do I create that as a canned reusable asset (including the sound) that I can use in my projects AND share with others in Davinci?
YESS COLOR MANAGEMENT IN FUSION!! FINALLY! How do you feel about Fusion's speed? I really tried using it, but it soo slow for higher res footage, and stopped using it. Something that really annoyed mi is the playback of a clip that often stays choppy after it's buffered. How's your experience with this so far?
Scale to source……how many times have we needed to be aware of that problem? Learned a lot about that that in your FZ2H course. Now fixed with a checkbox. 😅
Very cool stuff. The color management improvement is a blessing, but not as exciting as the multi poly where now we have an added layer of animation that can be grouped as an object. I wonder what’s next, inverse kinematic, bones? Haha
I recently observed in another video that Dissolve 19 has introduced a new slow motion feature that enables shooting at 8K 24 fps or 8K 30 fps without compromising quality. However, the details provided were insufficient. I would appreciate hearing your insights on this topic or viewing a video that elaborates further. Thx!!
Thanks for the video. I'm excited about DR19 as well and was overjoyed, when I learned about Fusion respecting Color management now, but I can't seem to get it to work. What Fusion is displaying in the GUI does not match what it displays via SDI out, nor does it match the image outputted via "video clean feed" on my second monitor and all those images still do not match how stuff looks in the Edit page. It's as wildly different as it always was, much more different that what could be explained by the different calibration of the monitors.
One more excellent video, mate! I have some question about the 1st feature: 1. Why not just keep all the input video medias as the BMD WG color space? 2. I have an HDR 1400 monitor and Windows 11, DR v19 supports HDR monitoring the preview window in the Edit page now!!! But the fusion page looks like still not support HDR in windows. Is my setup error? Thanks in advance.
one thing I could *really* do with in Fusion ... is proper handling of SVG files. keeping them resolution-independent (so scaling/rotation doesn't end up being pixelated), and simplifying work on individual SVG shapes. really infuriating that I used to be able to do all of this back in my After Effects days, with ease...
Hello Case:Y(or X). Have you found a way to use the same identical node in many different Fusion compositions so that when you change one node, it changes in all compositions that use that node. In short, an exact copy, like a proxy ? Many times there is a situation where you make a nice ball out of Circle, which you modify to your liking, and you want to use the same ball in many different Fusion compositions.
I saw great potential in using Referenced Comps for lower thirds in a project to keep them consistent throughout, but more importantly, allow quick global change such as font or colour change, should the client request it when everything else was complete. The problem, of course, with this idea is that the text content of a title cannot be made unique for each instance of the same referenced comp, therefore making them unsuitable for this. Is there any way around this where referenced comps can some how be instructed to ignore certain parameters, such as text content?
Oh no! the color management doesn't not seem to be working for me in fusion :( does it not work when I do a custom color processing mode? It seem like I'm still have to do a cst in fusion from srgb to linear to get it to work. Any suggestions?
Hey Casey when you are at NAB, could you check out the Canon exhibit for us? They are allegedly going to be announcing new cameras and lenses. Would be very cool to see :)
Maybe is not important for almost all of you, but another thing is that inteface is available in some other language than English (hoping it was not available also in the previous version) 😅

bro… you don’t know how HAPPY having color management in fusion makes me… that’s been ruining me life for YEARS 😂 we did it! 🎉🎉
What am I missing? 19 is still behaving exactly the same for me...colors don't match from fusion to edit to color pages just as before when using color management.

Casey looks as excited as a kid at a candy store - awesome!
I made the mistake of watching this before bed. So stoked off of Casey’s excitement, I’m no longer sleepy. 😅
Your enthusiasm is infectious! Thanks for the post!
All Fusion needed was a "Fix this" check box and now we have it!!
Davinci is unmatched in every way! Thank you, Blackmagic design!
Finally integrated work with color in fusion ---YES!!!!!
You and Alex are a great tag team! Very fast. Very useful Thanks a million!
Your sheer joy over these changes in Davinci Resolve 19 is palpable!
Greatest inventions in Fusion that keeps humanity go forward:
Magic mask
Multimerge
Multipoly
Finally most of the irritating small things are fixed!!! I love it. :D Can't wait to see more composition tutorials btw! :D
Very cool features...love that DaVinci is still putting in time and money into the Fusion page.
Multi-poly node is something I've needed forever without even knowing!!!
Stacking poly shapes has been the bane of my existence for so long. This node is really a no brainer which is my wheelhouse.
Color management in fusion, now that will make life so much easier !
look how mom's lil' boy gets excited 'bout a single checkbox 😄♥
u'r simply the best, Casey!
I literally just got my speed editor keyboard and license yesterday and they drop a whole new version on us!!! SO MUCH TO BE EXCITED ABOUT! :)
👏Your excitement is infectious and I've caught it! Looking forward to your deep dives. 👊
Your videos inspired me to become a professional in this industry. Hope to one day collab. Keep pushing Casey
That is amazing!!!!
RIP Adobe I have been since 2012 a DR user and never looked back, BM is just so good at listening to its users that it just kicks ass.
Color management in Fusion is incredible. Yeaahhhhhhhh
Wow, that fairlight bit was shockingly good
I've watched your videos for a while, and I love what you do, but here... you are sooooo far above me that I can't process it, but I'll go back and get the released version and figure it out. BRAVO to YOU!!!
THANK YOU! This new input color space thing saved my project! 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Great video.
The new polygon mask feature is just what I needed 🙌
You are leap years beyond my very rudimentary knowledge, but I love knowing this so that I can find it if I want to use it. Love this product!
All of this is so incredibly useful (and partly overdue...)
Thanks a lot!
omg vdb in fusion thats insanely cool! So exited to try!! Thank you!
Nice one Casey, helpful as always mate! I did laugh at the derelict haha
Thanks for sharing this, just bought my license!
Your picture is in the lower left corner. It’s better in the blank space in the upper left corner, at least in the early portion. Glad you are excited. Looks like an improvement.
The stacked masks is going to be so much better, I was always wanting that option
It's such a wonderful day.
Wow, cool stuff! Thanks for the preview!
It's really good to see USD properly implemented in Fusion. Miles ahead than After Effects 3D, which is not comform to open standard.
Thanks for the overview, Casey!
I'm so happy about vdb's inside fusion!
I believe it doesn't crop it. But I haven't checked specifically
thanks for that video!! i am excited for your new videos and tutorials on davinci resolve 19!!
W's all around. Fusion color management update BIG.
i love your channel! Your guides help me alot 👏thanks 😁
vdb support is awesome.
This is my first version - just getting into it.
Seems like a good time.
That VDB thing is supercool. You can generate stuff in embergen and bring it over. Embergen does complex simulations in realtime.
Great meeting you at NAB. I'm just now watching this (I've also watched some other vids about DR19), and the Referenced Comp feature is the first one that actually made me say "Holy shit!" out loud.
I just watched to see Casey get excited about things I’ll never use.
i have the Resolve Studio, and i'm really interested in learning that Magic Mask feature... i played around with it for a while, but i still don't know how to use it properly... i want to learn how to remove people and text from certain still images and move them over to different still images

Edit after watching: Jeez, I am finally feeling like it's time for to fully drop After Effects and focus on Fusion 😊
Thank you Casey.
I almost choked on my food when I saw you rotate that cloud and I realized it wasn't real
Those PolyLine and Reference Comp features had me shouting like that diner scene from When Harry Met Sally.
Also nice Fatboy Slim reference at the end. It’s “funk soul brother”, took me a long time to learn what he’s actually saying.
Your next course with these features are gonna be AWESOME #Takemymoney!
Hope to see you at NAB

linked comp will be great for specific transition animations

Noo. I thought magic mask would be free or something 🤣 4:01
I really hope you're on the Resolve beta team, because cranking out a video on new features this fast would be totally bizarre otherwise.
Scale To Source, didn't about that one! Nice tip, thank you!
Very very cool. One new feature I saw in the Notes for 19 beta I'd like to see demonstrated is the new Film Look Creator. It sounds like a fun tool.
Darren Mostyn has a vid that demos it a bit.
Brother, tell me... in this version you can make a soft shadow in 3D RENDERER just like in SOFTWARE RENDERER?
cool cool - you and blackmagic :)
Scale to source……how many times have we needed to be aware of that problem? Learned a lot about that that in your FZ2H course. Now fixed with a checkbox. 😅
thanks for the round up 🙏💐❤️
where is the new direct background bokeh feature of v19 without any masking?
Very cool stuff. The color management improvement is a blessing, but not as exciting as the multi poly where now we have an added layer of animation that can be grouped as an object. I wonder what’s next, inverse kinematic, bones? Haha

W especially multi poly, but improve the follower text modifier
You missed about the intelli tracker . But was a quick and very good info on the new features . Thank you

❤great work ❤❤❤
I bought all the DaVinci Resolve 18 books. Will they be coming out with DR 19 books later on?
Will my fusion compositions get fucked when i change the timeline resolution still?
Brains blown 🤯
can you export the reference comps in a bin?
I dont use Davinci too often. Lately it seems every time I open it I have to install a new version or updated version.
Oh no! the color management doesn't not seem to be working for me in fusion :( does it not work when I do a custom color processing mode? It seem like I'm still have to do a cst in fusion from srgb to linear to get it to work. Any suggestions?

Just as was beginning to use nuke for compositing. Soo cool news
The smartest decision I have ever made was switching from Premier to resolve three years ago.
I use both after effects and davinci
I got a premiere pro ad on thus video :D
