The wife an I did this hike a few years ago in October. The trail had snow and ice. We didn't have any spikes or waling sticks. Almost go lost when we missed our turn to the summit. Walked an extra mile in 20 inches of snow. I can't wait to go back to SD. Thanks for bringing us along.
Loved it! I can't believe you didn't make the fam get up early enough for that 6:30 AM start. Can you see Mt. Rushmore or Devil's Tower from the summit?
@@OneMansOdyssey you can see the backside of Mt Rushmore for sure. You can see the parking lot just past it. I'm not sure about Devils Tower. We did Devils tower about 10 years ago. But I'd love to go back.
Nice hike, lovely family.👌
@@rlands5134fd thanks!
What a beautiful place!
@@hikingwithjackieboy the entire black hills area is great!

@johnnyguerra3754 wow that is an amazing story. I bet that was some experience in the snow! Such a cool area.
Great scenic hike. I’ve also noticed that South Dakota has some nice looking backpacking routes.
@tangenttrails the black hills area is great. So much cool stuff to see. I bet backpacking would be great there.
I'm in love with South Dakota. You'll have to join me when I do the Centennial Trail again.
@ToddvsTodd oh yeah, that trail looks fantastic. Such a beautiful area.
Cool rock formations. Sometimes I'd rather take the trail going down too hah.
@rodoutdoors Custer state park has amazing formations. We stayed there for 4 nights and honestly could have done 4 more.
