      +meejmuse I love your hair blonde!!! I haven't used make up before and am not planning on using make up for another year. I plan on start wearing make up in Year 10. I live in Melbourne. Any tips for beginners? Because to be honest, I don't know the difference between toners and moisturises or cleansing foam and cleansing oil.

    I do a multi-step routine too so this was normal to me, more people need to know about this! I also used to think my skin was dry because my forehead would always have flakes no matter how much moisturizer I applied. Now my skin is pretty much normal, but I can tell my forehead is drier because it soaks up products faster (no more flakes though!). Personally, I never use a separate eye makeup remover anymore since I discovered oil cleansing, I use the Banila Co. Clean It Zero sherbert cleanser. All I do is gently massage around my eyes for maybe 45 seconds or so and everything comes off (if I'm not diligent enough, a bit in the corners get missed, but lightly using a cotton swab gets rid of that). Using cotton pads and eye makeup remover seems so bad for your delicate eye area, I would stop instead of worrying about wasting your product :O
    You're really selling me on the Belif Eye cream! I have the Aqua Bomb because of your recommendations, I hope it does well for the upcoming US fall and winter :)

    • @aznchic01
      @aznchic01 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Natasja Cox I'm not an expert but I definitely recommend layering and finding a good pH cleanser! Cleansers that leave your skin feeling tight and dry afterwards are too high for you, the ideal level is 5-6. I don't want to assume you're from the US, but if you are, there are some starter products you can easily find in local stores: Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser has a pH of 5.5 so it's good for you. Hydrating toners are a must too, but I only know about Japanese or Korean brands, such as the Hada Labo Gokujyun LotionShop (sold online at Walgreen's, "lotion" means "toner" in Japan). The Korean routine then suggests you follow up with either an essence, serum, or ampoule, then a moisturizer. For serum I use the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum (Jen has a video on this product too) but If this seems like too many steps you can just buy a heavier moisturizer and that's it! I currently use the Belif Aqua Bomb, that's sold exclusively at Sephora here, the Moisturizing Bomb also looks good for drier skin. Sorry for all the text, but I hope this helps! If you're ever more curious about Asian skin care, I highly recommend you check out reddit.com/r/asianbeauty for more info :)

Before I sleep I play Jelly Splash on my phone or read a book until I fall asleep on it. Also I love the layering technique. I started it this year and my skin has improved so much. I am sold. I was already planning to get the Hera essence since you mentioned it the last time. And now I'm also gonna get the Belif eye cream and the sum37 ampoule thingy. And yes I remember you talking about hera long ago :) thanks for sharing! :)
    Do u have any masks/sleeping packs to recommend?
    Also wanna add that although some people say that having so many steps/products for a skincare routine is just a marketing ploy by beauty brands to make you buy more types of products, I personally find that adding an essence and serum to my routine has really made a difference!! So this layering thing definitely isn't just marketing, but worth the time and money. Also better than spending more on facials etc in future!

      +Shahira Ifrit thank you, glad you enjoy them! I'd recommend teenagers to start early with at least a 3-4 step routine which includes toner, a watery essence, eye cream, then finishing off with a gel essence or lotion (for oily skin) or moisturizing cream (for dry skin). Trust me guys.. start early!! You'll thank me later haha xo

And if Oppa makes a cameo, that's just a bonus, cuz he's too funny. You are one of my skin care heroes. Ever since I started doing a Korean style layered skin care regimen, my skin has been sooo much better. I love that I don't look my age (don't act it, either :-o), and although I know I have some DNA to thank, I know that my skin care can take a good part of the credit. Yay for K beauty!

    I love this updated skincare routine. I am actually looking for a new eye cream. Currently I am using Laneige Water Bank Eye Gel. It's just not cutting out for me. My under eye have been extremely dehydrated. Now that I live right outside of Seoul, I noticed my skin is a lot more dehydrated compare to living more south. I am only 23, but I want to look for a really good eye cream that will help reduce dark circles and fine lines. I will have to look into Belif or any other recommended eye creams.

    My skin care routine is too simple and FYI my skin is a little bit sensitive and oily.
    Morning -> washing my face with a lemongrass soap (this is the best face soap for me alongside the baby soap. I already tried a lot of branded soap or even doctor's recipe soap but I keep coming back to this soap. It's cheap and works really good for my skin), using a natural toner that I made by myself (green tea toner or apple vinegar toner), put some eye cream from Olay, using some moisturizer lotion by Hada Labo (oily skin type), and put a little bit of sunblock and continue it with make up if I have an outside activity. But if I have nothing to do that day, then I'll skip sunblock and make up for sure. I like to give my skin a break for a little while because I have to put a lot of make up for my work. Sometimes I scrub my lips with a honey+sugar or vaseline+sugar paste too when I feel my lips is too chapped to put on a lipstick/lip tint.
    Night -> removing my make up using a baby oil (it do works for me even on my waterproof mascara/eyeliner), and then use some milk cleanser to make sure all my make up is gonen ( I also do a little massage using milk cleanser), after that I washing my face using the same soap that I talked about before, and use a natural toner, eye cream, moisturizer, and night cream from Hada Labo, put a little bit of vaseline on my lips or put a lip balm instead, and also use a hand cream too (My fav is The Body Shop Wild Rose hand cream). I do exofiliate my skin every 3 or 4 days using a baking soda or just with an oatmeal paste. and put on natural mask at least once a week. I choose potato mask, cucumber mask, egg white mask, and oatmeal with honey mask.

    Hi,
    I wanted to try a Korean Skincare Routine, but I got confused while researching. For the Night Routine, I realized that there are a few essences.
    Toner > Essence > Serum > Eye Cream > Essence > Moisturizer > Mist
    Is there any differences between essences to be applied before and after serum? There can be a few essences in one routine? Is there any rules to the steps of the Korean skincare routine?
    Thanks, do make more videos~ I love watching them

    • @rachelchiew206
      @rachelchiew206 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there:) Yes there can be two essences!! Normally for Korean brands, they always state first/starting essence on the essence that you are supposed to use right after cleansing. A product simply with the name essence should be used later on! the first essence is supposed to lock in moisture and not make your skin feel so tight after a wash! Hope this helps:)

      +Wendy Zhuang No not necessarily! My skin isn't that good :) I have lots of breakouts due to lack of sleep and stress. As I wrote in the description box just add an essence or serum into your routine and you'll automatically see a difference. Although I layer many products, half of them are just waters and are extremely light so it really isn't that much. All the best sweetie! x

    I would recommend a vitamin c serum for the AM routine. It's helps keep your skin bright and youthful. I love Drunk Elephant's C-Firma Day Serum.

    I have been using Shiseido, Shu uemura, Kose Sekkisei, and other Korean skincare like Missa and Laneige, UBG since 19 and now I am in my mid twenties and because I moved to Canada so I have been switching m skincare to First Aid Beauty, Fresh, Lancome, Kielh's, Origins, Peter thomas roth. And among all Japanese and Korean skincare still win! I found that Korean skincare routine is the most complicated one, they have toner to refine, emulsion to balance, essence to treat, cream/gel to lock in nutrient, and then sleeping mask to provide extra purified & revitalized, 5 layers in total. Japanese ones are more simple, mostly 3 steps, toner, essence, lotion/cream/gel. The western skincare are more straight forward, like First Aid Beauty just one layer? Because I don't even know if they have a toner or not. I recalled when I went to any skincare section at my hometown, the BA of Japanese & Korean skincare can always list and tell you the steps in detail and explain with proper reasons(even that is something marketing behind but you would be persuaded.) The western skincare steps are not that clear when compare to Asian skincare. I have to say after trying so many thing out I think that among all, Korean skincare is most hydrating and effect is the most noticeable. Even I have to apply so many layers it worth the efforts. The most important ting - they are relatively cheap. This is a big win!

    Hi Jen, just a recommend - try to use Hanyul serum (right after face cleansing) and skin softener!! Amazing products!!! And also for a perfect hydration try to use toner two times, one time right after the other, it makes such a great difference^^ ..hope it would be helpful :*

    Hi unnie, thanks for listening to requests and doing this video! You are right, essence does make a difference. I just recently started using the innisfree jeju sparkling essence to get back the chok chok feeling that I had when I was using essence samples and it is so good. Tweety is so cute! Love your darker hair but you can do whatever colour that makes you happy. I agree the Korean skincare routine is a lot of steps but it does make a difference. I normally browse my social networks, watch TH-cam videos & hope you uploaded something new or play my pokemon shuffle game on my phone before I sleep. Have a good week, unnie & also oppa.

    I've been using the Skin79 black sugar cleasing oil but this is not as effective as DHC's one, which is my favorite. When I run out of Skin79 cleasing oil I'll just go back to my DHC.
    Jen, what do you think about acid treatments like AHA and BHA? I've been seeing A LOT of bloggers/youtubers saying these treatments do WONDERS for your skin.

    Wow...so many steps....I love it!! I wanna try all of these products! I am in the market for a good skincare routine.....the one I have right now is super lacking haha. Face wash,essence and the moisturizer.....this is what I need to start doing, getting older skin sucks! Thank you for the video and all the hard work and yes, totally me before going to bed,checking FB,Instagram and Twitter!

    • @meejmuse
      @meejmuse  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kristele “sumblink2” Jurado Thanks girl! There are lots of steps but since many of them are light water formulas it really doesn't feel like too much. Instead, you'll feel like your skin was thirsting for it. The thicker serums and creams are then necessary to help rejuvenate your skin and maintain the moist layer as you sleep. Getting older is awesome! hehe.. so I am trying to tell myself XP

    I also love the Belif, SU:M37, and Hera products. They've made such a difference in my skin. I've been using the IOPE Enzyme Powder, but the scent isn't very pleasant, haha. I'll have to check out the the Rice Enzyme Powder!

    Can you please do a video about skincare routine but for young adults/ teenagers? Most of the products here are pretty pricey and some of them might have a side effect on young skin.
