- The pricing of a Whopper Jr compared to a Whopper has been somewhat mysterious to me. Often times, it seems a lot cheaper and you know the size of a junior burger will be smaller. But how much smaller? I went to investigate. Watch to find out how to get the most value for your dollar when buying a Whopper. Should you buy two Whopper Jrs.? Or One Whopper is cheaper assuming you don't care about eating two smaller burgers.

I used coupons on a date once. It didn't go well, but at least now i can have two whoppers to myself.
Well, just recently we have redeemed a coupon for two whopper junior burgers for the price of one, a price of $3.99 for two. Since we like vegetables, we requested our customized burgers to contain heavy pickles and onions as well as heavy ketchup.
Did you tell her you both were going to a roast beef restaurant and then take her to Arby’s?

Interesting topic! I went with a different approach and looked at the calorie count and nutrition facts pulled from the BK website.
A Whopper sandwich has a serving size of about 270g vs a Whopper Jr which has a serving size of 134g. So, even by BK standards, it's roughly half of the sandwich.
Also, a whopper is 660 cals vs jr which is 310 cals.
Then, if we look at the macro nutrients, a Whopper has 40g of Fat, 49g of Carbs, and 28g of protein.
A whopper jr has 18g of Fat, 27g of carbs, and 13g of protein.
If we take your costs from the video - Whopper costs $3 - each dollar is worth 220 calories, 13g of Fat, 16g of Carbs, and 9g of protein.
Whopper Jr costs $1.50 - each dollar is worth 207 calories, 12g of Fat, 18g of Carbs, and 9g of protein.
From this analysis, we pretty much get to the same conclusion, that a whopper jr is about 1/2 of a whopper. So there is almost no cost/benefit of going with either. However, if you really want to maximize your calories per dollar (to the cent), a whopper could maximize your calorie intake (discounting any variance due to humans making the burgers).

Hold it right there. A whopper jr. is NOT $1.50. I just calculated backwards from the 2 for $6 deal to see how much value is the $4 for 2 Whopper Jr and 2 fries worth.
That's a pretty fatty burger, ew. Too bad you can't ask for lean meat. "Sorry sir, I just work here." You can use lean burger meat if you cook it yourself.
Just do calories divided by dollar. That's it.

The whopper and whopper jr. are advertised to be 4 and 2 oz (meat only) respectively. Assuming they are not being falsely advertised and that's what the patties actually weigh before grilling, that would mean they lose about 30% of their weight from juice loss. Does that sound right?

@@BeatTheBush No, how you approached the problem, BTB, is how I would have done it too. Just only issue I saw, was you should have removed the lettuce & tomatoes & onion from the bun, then weighed it. To me, those don't figure into the weights.

In Serbia just about every fast food joint writes the weight of the meat (before barbecuing it) on the menus. So, you can (assuming they are not lying) do these calculations in the runtime. From my experience, the smaller portions are, at best, priced the same (per weight) as the larger ones, and are usually 10-15% more expensive.

And maybe a 10 pc. chicken nuggets as well! Every time i go to BK, i ALWAYS forget to ask for cheese. And one time in the drive thru in San Jose they forgot to put my chicken nuggets in the bag 😭

Just recently we ate two Whopper Junior burgers for $3.99 with coupon (that is two for the price of one)! We prefer more veggies so we customized the Whopper juniors with heavy ketchups, heavy pickles, and heavy onions.

I use to work at Burger King many years ago in Minnesota . You can get a whopper jr for less than a dollar by ordering a hamburger no muster with mayo,onion and lettuce and you have a jr they use the same burger meat and buns for both the jr and the single. And here in Ohio if you get it to go then there's no sales tax.
Francis, can you compare gas with techron against cheap gas and me adding a fuel additive like Lucas oil treatment to the tank.? I'm curious if I'm wasting money going to Chevron all the time. Compared to just adding an additive to the cheap gas
I want to do this but I do not have the resources to really show the difference in a long term study. But I suppose you mean using a bottle of fuel injector cleaner? This is debateable and still requires an actual study of the engine itself and looking at the resulting deposits accumulated with the different methods.

What I do if I have to eat fast food is get the small burger from the dollar menu with 2 beef patties. Also pro tip, Wendy’s dollar menu chicken nuggets plus Wendy’s dollar menu salad is a small version of their $8 fried chicken salad

Do the online customer survey on the back of the receipt and bring it in on your next visit for a free Whopper with purchase of a fry and drink. In my area if you do this you get that non-combo Combo for $3.60 to $4.10 depending. Much better value than the $5.00 Whopper meal coupon. Take that receipt and do the survey again. Repeat again and again.
P.S. For awhile a few years back, Whopper Jrs were on the $1 menu. That was a smoking deal as the regular Whopper was about $4.

More reviewers of food need to do this with the scales. Appreciate that. It's time consuming but necessary for reviews. Theirs the app now to save big. Every Wednesday through the app the whopper is $1 or $2 the following week. plus the double whopper is for $2 or triple for $3 on whopper Wednesdays when the whopper is a dollar. Like today. Next week the whopper will be $2. Not sure on the pricing for the double and triple the following week. Best deal on the market for Wednesdays. Not the healthiest I know.

I don't usually buy more food than I want just to get a better value, unless for some reason it costs more to get less. Several years ago at my local grocery store a gallon of milk actually cost less than a half gallon. I never understood that.
Paying for convenience is the usual reason. Most commonly done with size comparisons in soft drinks but it applies to just about everything food and drink related.
Wonder how many spiders you crush when putting on those shoes, most days. I always bang the heel of the shoe on the ground , knock on the back, upside down, then, place on feet.
By my old work place in Tallmadge, Ohio A whopper cost $4.19 a whopper jr. cost 2.19 so for a jr I would order a hamburger with lettuce,tomato and mayo and cost .99 Keep in mind these prices are current but they are Akron prices. The only difference between a hamburger and a jr is what's on it. Remember Burger King's motto " have it your way" I use to do this a lot when I ate at Burger king. I only know the recent prices because my blood sugar was low 2 weeks ago so I'd rather eat a burger than candy. Now the question I don't know is if the lettuce is organic or not. lol 🤣
You can get an extra paddy for the Whopper Junior for $1 and now Whopper juniors are 2 for $5 just and 2 extra paddies for a total of $7 before tax best hamburger deal for fast food without a coupon in America. Current as of 10/16/23😊 great video review

I had just got home and sat down to eat my McDonalds double cheeseburger and I decided to look at your latest video. It turned out to be about burgers from Burger King. Funny timing ( : I had considered going to Burger King for a junior whopper, but it was a little bit out of my way. As McDonalds was closer to my home and a double cheeseburger from there is cheaper than the junior whopper, tipped me in the direction of McDonalds. That's for doing the math to find out the best deal at Burger King. Most likely I would have never have took the time to do it for myself.
