Haha when you said everyone is nice in the fishing world it triggered a memory, I remember a couple guys talking about their day on the river, I asked the guy where he caught the fish, “in the mouth” was his response.
I always start with drifting eggs, move to spinners and finish with a jig. Subtle first, next territorial and finish with the , make me mad lure. Great video guys.
Used their ongoing clips on how to read a river. Swapped out my trebles for inclines and just no luck. Came across a stretch of the Milwaukee River that would fit a proper 25 to 40 drag across rocks with a strong current on the far bank. Still, not using the ceymar 30 because can’t figure out the drag, yet. So, president I fell. Was fishing the last of the remaining river smallies before ice and salmon kicked them out and stopped fishing the coho and greedy Lakers and Steeleys until one porpoised down river. Just used the spoon and spinner and read the river clips and proper toss ahead of the nose as not to spook it-as instructed-and landed a 12 lb spotted Steeley hen with 3lbs of eggs on the WACKY WORM I was tossing. Wacky! Cooked up and it was delicious. Thanks addicted fishing!
I’m a huge striper bass fisherman and largies/ smallies now that salmon season is coming up soon trying to learn and chase another species thanks for the tips
It’s always the best watching learning from Jordan, goes in to depth about any kind of fishing and has tot me more to fish than anyone else out there. Keep it up brotha you’re inspiring me n my son to be better fisherman! From NM
I love using my bass jig rod to throw all hardware bank fishing. Love fighting a big ole salmon on a 7’5” rod. I’ll break out the big rod only for bobber and drift fishing
With the bait cast what exact location you would cast in the rapids to catch spring salmon . What would be the location of float ? Middle of the rapid or at the seam ? Thanks
New to Salmon fishing this season up in Western Washington. Hoping to be ready with gear and some more knowledge before the late summer and fall run here. Seeing as there are all 5 species of Salmon here would float, twitch, or spinner be a better technique to learn first?
Bobber rod - how many feet of mono bumper between the braid and weight under the bobber? I'm wondering because in deep water I'm worried about the bobber getting hung up on the knot. Thank you.
Yeah having multiple rods is key. Before I thought I could have a 1 multi purpose rod and I always felt undergunned in one way or another. With 3 rods I have the same purpose Jordan explained, float, drift/spinner, and short twitch rod. It’s an addiction now lol, I always find a reason to tell myself to get a new rod.
I've tried all of these techniques so far. I've lost 2 bobber sa twitching jig a couple of hooks and weights, but I did manage to catch a 2lb set of car keys under a log.
Where are you located, buddy. I’m thinking about getting in to fishing those Cohos here in Washington state at nooksack river but I have no idea what to buy or where to start. So for now I’m going to follow your channel seems like you have some great Data.
How do you make sure the spinner is on the bottom ? I can’t tell if I’m doing it right, I cast, wait a few seconds (for bottom) then a sharp pull and slow retrieve. The problem is that I feel like the blade stops spinning with a slow retrieve but if I speed up it comes higher up in the water column ...
Awesome gonna try your tactics in October when the salmon and steelhead start running I get Lake Ontario run Chinook salmon Atlantic Salmon Steelhead and Browns
When you mentioned that you always tie to a stopper on your casting line, what do you mean exactly? You don’t tie your spinner directly to the main line?
As always, great information and well presented. I am more of a "lake/river" boat fisherman that prefers trolling for salmon and trout. I'd enjoy seeing more info on that style of fishing if you have any vids or can make any in the future. I fish the Columbia river near Hood river but not exclusively and I also fish for landlocked chinook on lake Coeur d'Alene in Idaho using downriggers and planer boards.
what do you mean when you have a bumper tied to your braided line? i see how you have your bumper knot tied to your hook but how do you tie it to your braided line? or do you use a swivel or something?
I fish the saranac river in Plattsburgh NY I feel like it almost in possible to fish with spin gear we can't use nothing with weight not even spoons witch is kind ridiculous I think I understand single hooks but we can even use vibrax spinners
Another great tutorial. My favorite way to fish for salmon is flyfishing...that said I am learning float fishing and twitching to challenge my skills and learn something new.
You can get rubber or string style bobber stops, as far as the depth you want your weight just above the bottom. If you start hitting bottom shorten the distance or you will snag up and or typically lose the presentation your looking for. On the other hand If you haven’t found bottom start moving the stop up the line and adding 6 inches to a foot at a time until you feel bottom then shorten it to the correct depth..
I would get the rubber stops. They are much easier to use in my opinion. Just don’t forget the bead in between the bobber stop and the bobber. This prevents the bobber from sliding over the bobber stop
I’m a bit confused, in the river here in CA I thought when the salmon run up the river their not eating anything so you need to piss them off and get a reaction bite. The other day I saw a bunch of salmon surfacing near a dead damn and kind looked like they were feeding. Can you still get these fish with roe like Jordan is talking about? I was throwing spinners and jerkbaits for a whie and I had like a 20 pounder follow my jerk bait to shore but that was it.
gabe cunningham oh ok gotcha their just jumping around cause they’re all balled up with each other and stuck from getting up stream. Then I’m still confused how these guys are getting bit in the river using bait.
Salmon don't exactly "feed" while in freshwater but it will still eat opportunistically. In contrast, while in the ocean, they very aggressively pursue food. It's like being on a long road trip and not wanting to stop for big meals but not shying away from opportunities to get a snack. Also, keep in mind that a salmon's mouth is like it's hands. It uses it to figure out what things are and to attack things that get near it. In the river, the salmon will often "grab" things that drops in front of their face or irritate them. If what they grab is food, then they'll eat it. If not, they can easily spit things out very quickly. What they don't do is hold up like trout in a seam and eat every single thing that looks like food all day. Their mission is to migrate, not feed.
I always bring at least 3 rods maybe 4 depending on the water and fish .. A spinning and a couple casting rods , pretty much like he has set up I just prefer casting set ups for most everything … love tossing wiggle warts from the bank when the fish are in the hole it can be a blast ..
nice tnks bro pls i m new into salmon catching can u advise me i wan to use lures sizes weights n reel i hav already pls but i need to no wat size braid n lb n fluro carbon pls advise god bless pompeii
Going to Oregon in a month for a week , hoping to land at least 1 salmon. Anyone with any tips or suggestions on where to fish would be greatly appreciated!!
I’m new to fishing and I’m addicted after I hooked my first king salmon , powerful fish. I’m fishing in Lake Michigan Wisconsin , Kenosha harbor This channel is good on advice and tips for beginners like me.
why do reviewers almost always exclude/ignore West Coast, specifically California, salmon rivers? It might be I'm missing the references so not being negative here just trying to learn more about our big rivers and salmon spawning patterns. I'm old guy now and have never fished big rivers or even specifically targeting salmon (chinook/king, Steelhead, etc). So far best I can conclude is to just kick up my high Sierras trout techniques to bigger waters??
I’m using a fixed float on braided line . I have a 1/2 oz bullet weight on my main line , my swivel and then my leader. Leader is about 2 feet. My leader gets tangled with my float. Can somebody tell me what l am doing wrong?
I love these addicted tutorials. The podcast is great too. I’ve learned so much. Still, having spent a lot of time down at the green river by my house, and tried everything, I’ve had very little luck. One humpy in 2 seasons. 😑 Anyway my favorite methods I’ve tried so far are the twitching jigs( which got the humpy) and spinners(I just picked up some wicked lures after getting a recommendation for them but I want to try the r and d spinners). Good luck out there!
Can anyone provide the list of supplies needed from the video? I haven't been fishing in years and I want to take my son. We are in a good salmon location in Northern California.
I'm going to the river with open spinner 6' pink woman's rod and my walleye setup. Got spinners and rapalas. I guess through a steal leader on my 10 lb line and see wtf happens
Great info for this seasoned fisherman, but novis salmon fisher. I love the info on your channel and tell all my friends about it. Didn’t know you could effectively twitch from the bank. Only seen it done in boats. Where can I get one of those hats?
Thank you so much for all the content you provide! It's given me a reboot on life and a reborn love of fishing. Staying addicted and fishy in CT!!
As quick as this was, Jordan put a ton of info out, and there's a TON more in depth on this channel.. Thanks again!
Haha when you said everyone is nice in the fishing world it triggered a memory, I remember a couple guys talking about their day on the river, I asked the guy where he caught the fish, “in the mouth” was his response.
😂
Haha, thats a nice responce considering the question lmao
I always start with drifting eggs, move to spinners and finish with a jig. Subtle first, next territorial and finish with the , make me mad lure. Great video guys.
Great rotation
Thanks I will screen shot this and use it😊 I’m going salmon fishing tonight
Do you by chance know the vetter river ? It’s in chilliwack bc

I need to have a pet bear to catch salmon for me... i have spent 300 hours this year and have yet to be successful.... which is why I'm here
i'm feeling you!
Tip don’t touch your bait with your bare hands they smell it and don’t go for it use gloves
Rubber latex gloves or cloth/leather gloves?
Secret behind scenes technique / m80 just kidding !
@@jaredmgonzalezwow thanks I didn’t know that
This is the video that started it all.... Can't thank you guys enough

Thank you. I have never caught a salmon 🍣 but I want to ! I am new to Seattle WA are from LA. It’s gonna happen baby!
Favorite method..spinners for sure. Only thing that caught nooks and steelhead this season up at Tanner crk.
Just noticed you guys are over 300k now!! Way to go guys!! This is one of the most understed fishing channels around. Should have millions of subs!!
I love using my bass jig rod to throw all hardware bank fishing. Love fighting a big ole salmon on a 7’5” rod. I’ll break out the big rod only for bobber and drift fishing
A lot of fun on the smaller rods.
You are an excellent guide/instructor Jordan. Keep it up man. 👍
when you spool your line and set your bumber and liter up, do you do flurocarbon to braid or braid to flurocarbon?
Using these techniques on the Pere Marquette in Michigan on Wednesday!
Such high concentration of quality information! Thank you so much for this video ❤
Got my first salmon licence yesterday can't wait to go fishing this will help
you guys helped me star slaying fish thankyou for what you guys do keep all the hard work up
Thank you! I don't have any experience for fishing. I have learned a lot.
are drift fishing, float fishing, and bobber fishing interchangeable terms? please do a compare and contrast video on these methods
yes they are all the same. They all refer to drifting a jig, egg, worm, or a bead under a float
Tks ! Never tried twitching , but looked forward to the coho now
With the bait cast what exact location you would cast in the rapids to catch spring salmon . What would be the location of float ? Middle of the rapid or at the seam ? Thanks

Just got stationed in Alaska, this is great!
Another great video. I love to watch a bobber dance around and then go down. That’s got to be my favorite.
Yeah having multiple rods is key. Before I thought I could have a 1 multi purpose rod and I always felt undergunned in one way or another. That’s how I ended up with 12 rods in my garage
Im poor lol
I have a guide select classic 8 foot with a abu Garcia revo x my only setup :(
I've tried all of these techniques so far. I've lost 2 bobber sa twitching jig a couple of hooks and weights, but I did manage to catch a 2lb set of car keys under a log.
New to the area, where are the best spots to fish on the Puyallup River? I live in sumner

"IF they're friendly" 🤣
Thanks for your sharing
What line do u use off the 40lb for bumper? Or do you use the same and not a different leader line weight
Link to that GSP 7`6 twitching rod by chance? I cant find it anywhere..
How do you make sure the spinner is on the bottom ? I can’t tell if I’m doing it right, I cast, wait a few seconds (for bottom) then a sharp pull and slow retrieve. Try to keep your rod tip down when you're reeling. It keeps the bait from going up.
Daniel Yu cheers!
Reel just fast enough to keep your spinner off the bottom practice makes perfect
Awesome gonna try your tactics in October when the salmon and steelhead start running I get Lake Ontario run Chinook salmon Atlantic
Salmon Steelhead and Browns
My buddy hooked me up to these vids . Thank you for sharing!
I recently moved to Seattle Washington. I'm a nooob...heard there is salmon in the area. Very excited for this. Thanks for the Information.
Any luck bro 😎
When you mentioned that you always tie to a stopper on your casting line, what do you mean exactly? You don’t tie your spinner directly to the main line?
I'm pretty sure he's talking about using a leader connected to his mainline using some sort of line to line connection.
I dont see many people do this but drifting a simple white swimbait and jighead works for me, less snaggy i find aswell
Under a bobber?
How do you fish a creek that's about walking speed with seaweed / debris?
'very carefully' lol
this channel is my go to fishing guide ! if they cant answer my question id have to find it myself!
What lb test florocarbon are you using to attach to your 30 lb braided line?
Very great video! I’m up in Michigan been fishing the Tippy for years always great to find some new information
Any tips for someone looking to fish tippy this year?
I followed this tutorial to a T 🤣🤣🤣, Chinook were jumping all around me! Five hours and not one hit 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. STILL had a fabulous day.

Will a medium heavy work? Lol not tryna invest in a new rod if I don’t absolutely need too
Love your post all the way. learn so much.
Hi guys is the reel in this video an okuma ceymar ? Im unsure
Thank you for doing this video,I’m new to Salmon fishing here in Massachusetts ❤👊
Thank you very much I learned Lot
what do you mean when you have a bumper tied to your braided line? i see how you have your bumper knot tied to your hook but how do you tie it to your braided line? or do you use a swivel or something?
It's directly tied line to line, no swivels. You can look on TH-cam on how to tie mono or fluoro directly to braid. Good luck out there
I fish the saranac river in Plattsburgh NY I feel like it almost in possible to fish with spin gear we can't use nothing with weight not even spoons witch is kind ridiculous I think I understand single hooks but we can even use vibrax spinners

1st pole, Didn’t hear about a “bobber stop”. Did you have and how high up the line? Great video BTW!

Wiggle warts spinner spoons
Blue Fox size 4 spinners

sounds like they were "rolling" which is just something they do when they are congregated in numbers. salmon don't eat in fresh water to my knowledge.
gabe cunningham oh ok gotcha their just jumping around cause they’re all balled up with each other and stuck from getting up stream. Then I’m still confused how these guys are getting bit in the river using bait.
Salmon 100% eat while in fresh water
shaun lehman right on man thanks for the info. I’m gonna go get some jigs and roe and try again. Can’t stop thinkin about those fish.

What dates can salmon be fished in the Yakima River?
Very helpful video with tons of info!
I thought the Salmon/Steelhead bobber rule for Oregon called for a leader length less than 36"? Great videos, I'm just confused on this point.
Brilliant mate! Cheers!
Great information, great job, great channel
Man im getting into new slamon fishing also can u fish for salmon in mass and were would that be also Your beard is on point -Milton

Where do you get the white braid
Tyler Morgan I run the Berkeley Fireline crystal its by far the best braid I have found
If I did the twitch jigging the way you did it I would get a ticket for illegal snagging. New York is tough on rapidly lifting your rod.
Thank you Jordan
Waders? What brand?
8wt fly rod with a size 5 hook egg loop not and pink fishing yarn
What kind of reel for the First Pole?
Been trying to float fish with no luck, guys are catching them next to us, what am I doing wrong?
let me ask. when you were talking about what to look for in a certain location for salmon, Is that the same for either Summer runs and winter runs ??
Think Salmon Holes / Buckets....and.... Steelhead flats / riffles / runs
My favourite technique is fly fishing for atlantic salmon
Such a great video 👍
Thanks

Josh Tse what size?
Size 4 or 5
