  • THE GUIDE - PLEASE READ: Limit Teh Shimmer: A Guide For FSR2FSR3 FrameGen Mod in Cyberpunk 2077
    (guide ver. 1.2, original author: scz_g. Modifications: ver. 1.1 on 2024/05/01 by Al Ex. Please share and/or modify if you have ideas how to make it better)
    This guide will help you drastically limit shimmering during rain and some artifacts when using LukeFZ's FSR2FSR3 FrameGen in Cyberpunk 2077. It applies to the 2.1 version of the game. To learn what you can expect after following all steps presented in the guide, have a look at the video. It shows a difference in image quality and performance before and after fixes at the SAME base graphic settings and screen resolution (1920x1200).
    Estimated performance cost: 15-20%.
    Skills required: manual mods installation for Cyberpunk 2077.

    1. Install LukeFZ's FSR2FSR3 Frame Generation Mod. Run the game and select "DLAA" option for "DLSS Resolution Scaling" and turn on Frame Generation. You can also define your own scaling ratio by modifying fsr2fsr3.config.toml file that you will find next to FSR2FSR3.asi file in your game directory after running the game. Personally, I recommend sticking to 1.0 (FSRAA/no scaling) or above 0.8. Below you can find exemplary ratios:
    [resolution_override]
    native = 1.0
    quality = 0.8
    balanced = 0.7
    performance = 0.6
    ultra_performance = 0.5
    ultra_quality = 0.9
    2. Install Cyberpunk Ultra Plus RT and RT-PT mods accordingly to instructions attached to the mod and your preference: if you're playing without (no RT) or use only basic ray tracing options (no path tracing), chose an "Ultra+" file for raster and normal ray tracing. Otherwise, choose a "RT and PT" one. Go for a "fast" one, unless you want to experience RT/PT in its full glory and tank your fps. NOTE: this mod, even in its "fast" version, improves performance as well as image quality in CP2077 when using standard, raster rendering (RT/PT off). Strongly Recommended.
    3. Install vignette effects removers: Crouch vignette remover and disable vignette and sharpening.
    4. Install the "Light" edition of Preem Rain mod (not "Heavy", "Medium" or "No Rain").
    5. Run the game and go to settings:
    - Set "DLSS Sharpening" to "0",
    - Try turning on "Film Grain" and "Chromatic Aberration",
    - Set "Motion Blur" to "Off".
    6. (OPTIONAL) If needed, I strongly recommend to modify other graphic settings in the game' menu to achieve at least 40-50 base fps during gameplay without frame generation.
    That's all. Now your game should be much more enjoyable during previously problematic, certain scenes and weather when using the frame generation mod.
    Enjoy Choom!

      @@scz_g following your guide...the shimmering in static image is almost nonexistent. I used a custom resolution override of 0.85 in the fsr2fsr3.config.toml file. However when the camera is in motion there is aliasing or white textures on edges using the mod. I know its a WIP but Any idea how to make them less noticable?

      Unfortunately it's hard/impossible to do because of the way how deeply the native FSR 2.1 is implemented in the game, @@yashpatil6782. So this guide is here mainly to present the ways how to make it better/bearable for now.
      But, other modders are already working on ways how to easily circumvent/get rid of those issues completely, making this guide useless (what's I'm counting on). So, fingers crossed. Have a look on the newest video on my channel ;)

    bro should i install dlss tweaks to use any preset that could fix ghosting issue? if not then what is your solution for ghosting problem specially while driving fast?

      DLSS Tweaks won't help with ghosting, you can check my other videos on the topic: "FSR3 Frame Gen may need some work." and "FrameGen Blur ON / OFF for FSR3 Frame Generation Mods" with my ReShade preset to limit ghosting when driving fast
