- One of my favorite tips in crochet! Have you tried it yet?
The best way to have straight and smooth edges! No extra gaps or extra bulk!
Since you all love tips so much, this one is one of my most popular ones!
🧶
Tutorial:
✖️🔴 ch3, dc in the following st
✖️🔴 ch2, dc in the same st
✔️🟢stacked sc stitch aka alternative turning chain
PS: for taller stitches like tr etc just add extra sc stitches on top of the stacked sc stitch to create the height needed!
🧶
Full tutorial (with longer video) is on my website and TH-cam channel!
🧶

Me over here chaining 3 and crocheting in the first stitch. 😂
Yes, me too 😂
nooo
I’m also a suspect here 😂👉🏻👈🏻
We all been there! I feel ya!
I was about to comment this exact thing lol! Good to know im not the only one
This is the best explanation of the stacked chain I have seen in 40yrs of crocheting.
I used to do a double height sc in the first stitch after turning then chaining 2. It was not great but had no bulk.
The only time I do the ch 3, sk 1, then dc in next st is if I am making blocks that will later be crocheted together. I use the holes to make the stitching easier.
Thanks so much 😀
I’ve been crocheting for nearly 25+ years and never seen this technique. Thank you! Never stop learning.
You learn something new every day.
same here.

That is crazy. How have I never heard of this until now?
Yes I do this and the standing double crochet
I love that you show all the examples. I can now make the edges pretty!!!
Thanks! That solves that problem!! 😮
The way my jaw dropped! I'm definitely gonna try this, thank you! 💓
You're so welcome!
This works awesome! Thanks for the tip and setting me right.
Your crochet hook is 🤩😍👌👌
OMG, Thank You!! I've been trying to do the "standing double crochet" for the past week while working with granny squares. This I can do!
Thank you! I can’t wait to try this!
I *NEEDED* THIS
Thank you!!!
❤
Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
I'm always gaining more stretches
I'm working on my first project (a blanket for my husband) and this is the best advice I've seen so far! Thank you!
🧐🤗🥳 I'm a newbie and THANK YOU for this!
I just ch 1 and crochet in next stitch and it makes it pretty even too. This makes the sides look more even then that tho so nice!
Omg thank you so much!!! I’ve been crocheting for 30 years and have always hated using double crochet to start a row, for this very reason! What a brilliant way to fix this problem! Definitely saving this to my crochet & knitting playlist, so I won’t forget!
You are so welcome!
So well explained. Ty soooo much
I agree with everyone here. I have been crocheting for decades, and have never seen this technique! I have especially been crocheting a lot this fall and winter and making lots of things, and that hole has been really bothering me! Thank you, thank you, thank you… 🙏🏾 ❤
You’re welcome
Love this. Going to try !
Wow! Thanks! Thats brill8ant
Beautiful tip.
Wow, so glad I ran into this. Thank you!
I love doing this instead of chaining at the turn, it makes the turn less leggy. So much nicer, and way easier to deal with when it comes time to slip stitch the row together. I do this especially when I crochet in the round... (Currently on Granny infinity baby blanket) 😊
Thank you for the tip! Love your hook :)
Oh great thank you! I needed this
Been doing it this way for a long time!! Sure puts a nice even edge on everything now!!
I think I'll try it.
It’s a good tip….thanks for sharing this 🥰👍🏻
What a fun trick
This is great. I learn something new all the time. Thanks for sharing.

This is gonna save me 1000 times over i love love love it!! 😍😍😍
Thank you for this tip, will keep this newbies work edges straight 😊
Ooooo... 😃😃😃😃 you've made a perfectionist's life better. Instruggle being a new intermediate crocheter. I struggle with these blips. I'll go binge your channel and see what else I can learn
Wow....brilliant!🎉
Ok I’ve heard of this, tried following others examples and none were as clear as yours. Thank you so much ❤
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!!! Love the look of that yarn!
I always use the alternative turn chain. Always
This is the first time I've ever seen this before. Thank you 😊
This is genius 😮❤❤❤

Just learned this for my last project, it helped so much!
Thank you for sharing this technique! I will use it for sure!❤
Thank you for sharing this it's very helpful.👍😜😜💯🌹🥀💗
That's so cool, im definitely saving this! I also knit (and spin and a million other things 😳🤔😆), and instead of having a bumpy edge everytime I turn for the next row, I started slipping the first stitch and no more bumpy edges! 😄🤗🧶
Thank you that.I love that .❤
Omg.. I feel like this is gonna be life changing.. My oma taught me to crochet like twenty years ago and i've never heard of this
thank you this is very helpful
This is amazing! How did I not know this!
OMG THANK YOUUUU
this is a great idea for that bulky texture!!! i’ve been using a stacked single crochet for my first stitch and it works pretty!!! (working on a shirt rn)
Great idea!
It works!!!!💕🎊🎊🎊🧶
That was cool. Thanks!
I learned this technique a couple of years ago and it's one of my favorite things I've learned to make my crochet look better. I do mine slightly differently, I go through the whole stitch instead of just one loop.
Definitely gonna save this for later. Thanks 😊
I always did the double and it worked out ok. But I love this way of doing it! Thank you!
What! Genius.
Yep, that's what I do. I love it!!
You've answered the dilemma that i have not been able to find in any of the crochet books i've run to for this problem. THANK YOU❤
Brilliant❤ Thank you
Thank you!!!😃
Amazing. Just tried it on my v-neck sweater❤
Love this!
Thanks for this! I've been trying to figure this out 😂
this is so helpful, i’m trying to make a blanket with double crochet squares and getting the edges to look clean has been so tricky but this helped a lot
Thank you so much!! That gap with the three chains, skip a stitch drives me wild in my projects! Lol ❤️
Since I learned this technique a while back I’ve ALWAYS used it. I also like to do the foundation technique where you don’t chain first, not sure what it’s called but these two techniques are absolute crochet game-changers.
Very helpful
Thank you 🤗 😘
Wow I never knew that great 👍 information Love how it comes out thank you very much for sharing ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you 💜
I've used this for a while. I am trying to teach my niece this way, and she keeps saying the pattern says to chain 3 .. 😂 but the way yours looks I like. I have to try to remember to do it your way..
Love this ❤
Thank you!
BRILLIANT 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
