When I was in High School (1973) my friend and I were going to take his 1972 Glastron 100hp Eventude (bored to 120) (James Bond boat from Live and let Die) from Ocean City to Hollywood FL to visit his Grandmother. Needless to say our parents threw that plan out of the window. We were kids had no clue what we were going LOL Great video, thank you.
I'm considering doing the same run, but starting from the Atlantic City area, in boat that is about 2 feet shorter. Nice to see it is possible, everyone else seems to do it in huge sport fishers, but this is the first time I've seen a video of someone doing it with outboards, which makes me a lot more confident in doing it. My concern has been trying to find the right weather window for a week long run.
Most of your concerns about weather should be focused from Atlantic City to Norfolk, VA, meaning if you can find a day or two to make it there, you always have the option of staying inside. You can also pop out from time to time if weather permits to avoid areas with no wake zones. Glad we inspired you and let us know when you go!
Nice trip and video have been following all of Capt. Tom with adventure happy hours great videos also. seeing things and areas that I would never see. wonder how much fuel did it take to do this adventure? thanks so much stay safe alk in michigan
Thank you! We also watched the Happy Ours series prior to leaving. We just didn’t have the luxury of time he had. We burned about 1300 gallons of fuel.
Great video. I have a shorter, reverse trip upcoming. Ocean City Maryland to Stamford CT. What software did you use to plan out the legs of your trip? Now that the Navionics app on the computer has been deleted, I am planning with paper charts. Much prefer the digital approach. Thanks!
Thank you! We used Navionics on both our Raymarine chart plotter and on an iPad as a backup. It’s useful for plotting destination marinas towards the middle of the afternoon. We also bought the Waterway Guide to the ICW, which covers Virginia to Georgia. Let us know how your trip goes!
Where you supposed to be moving that fast in the ICW, or when passing smaller boats that were fishing? Its a rhetorical question. We both know the answers.
There are sections labeled no wake, and stretches where you are allowed to cruise at normal speed. In any case, a boater is always responsible for their wake and any damage or injury it may cause
About 600 miles was outside, the rest inside. There were stretches insides of an hour or two that were no wake, but in many rural parts of SC and GA we could cruise at 35 mph
What a beautiful boat and what a fantastic trip! Thanks so much for sharing your trip, what an adventure!
Thank you for the kind words! It was definitely a great experience and something anyone who can should do at least once!

@@rambleon6770 No pre-planned stops? I am trying to figure out total time of trip and if I want to beak it up into two legs.
I now live in stuart and work in a marina there.
We love the Stuart area as a place to visit, fish and for trips to the Bahamas!

@rambleon6770 yes, it's great. Bahamas and cutting thru Florida to ft Meyers \Gulf.
sure beats doing 8 to 15knots like most fla trips for most boats
Yes we passed a lot of slow trawler types. Grand Banks, Mainships, etc.

how much fuel did you on the trip ?
We burned about 1400 gallons but that includes running the gas powered generator each day too
@@rambleon6770 thanks for the response we are thinking of do that trip from nj we had a 345 too
have to be 50foot plus to get slip in oregon fishing center
They have 5 slips available for transients from 30’ up!
cool to see you make the trip, I grew up in bellport spent many hours in moriches inlet moved to Vermont but dream about making this trip one day.
We keep the Ramble On in Center Moriches most of the summer, as well as Montauk in July to tournament fish. We also love Vermont, especially Stowe!!
You guys hauled arse.
We did! And the weather and sea conditions cooperated!
Its no wonder it took 7 days 3/4 of the trip was inside??
