After some very hard days with everything that happened in my country due to the floods in Valencia, and what has happened in the world with Donald Trump's victory, your video and your adventure have put a happy counterpoint and a smile on my face. As Sharon said, two wonderful kids. Thank you
Thank you Maya and Aladino, for letting us all live vicariously through your journey of rebuilding Magic Carpet. I’m too old now to take on another boat, but seeing you two embracing the challenge together and bringing it to this new beginning has helped fill the void that being shorebound had left. From the mind’s eye vision that you both held and her long slumbering form, you have created something beautiful and special in the care that you have both taken to do her justice. She is exceptional, you should both be rightly proud of her and yourselves. The journey has presented its challenges to each of you and you have been honest, not painting a false image of the trials that such a huge project presents in real life. At times the weight of it has borne down on you but you have stood back up and carried on with grace. You have shown far greater resilience than you gave yourselves credit for at times, and that more than anything is a credit to both your characters’. From far away across the Atlantic the sight of Aladino lighting her evening lamp filled my heart. I hope that, in some small way, I can add my own tiny piece of gratitude to many, that your hearts may be filled too in return. Good health to you both, may you always find safe harbour on your journey, R.
I’ve watched every episode, I sat here mesmerized ! I was actually in tears of joy as the keel touched the water! I couldn’t be happier for you and wish I could have been there to see this momentous event unfold. Congratulations to you both. Rob
Congratulations on your semi completion , you have had a long, exhausting journey and Magic Carpet II looks like a new yacht, due to the labour and exacting refurbishment that you have lovingly put in to the project. Looking forward to virtually accompany you both on your travels afloat again, through your excellent videos and thank you for allowing us viewers to follow your adventures . Stay Safe afloat!! David Buchan.
After building four aircraft and a 17 foot motorboat in the past I can appreciate the effort you two went to in order to produce that absolute work of art. Congrats and many MANY thousands of safe miles ahead!
Maya has nervous laughter while Aladino says "let's go!" They do have a wonderful mix of personalities to make watching "Sailing Magic Carpet". Maya does have a delightfully relaxed narration style. Looking forward to the next episode.
This is the first time I have ever had tears in my eyes while watching TH-cam. What an amazing accomplishment, two of the best human beings ever. Thank you for taking us along for this long and rewarding journey-Steve in CA.
I don't know much about boats. But I do know Aladino's story about how he started on a bike ride, met a sailor and then became a boat builder at a relatively young age. I do also know about how Maya started with Curlew, a little boat she got for $1 and fixed up herself, with her dad's help. A chance encounter brought them together. I've followed the channel to see so many parts to the world from a small sailing vessel, to hear Aladino speak several languages and listen to Mayas beautiful music. I look forward to more and see this as a new Grand Départ. Congratulations to you both!
What a beautiful home! Yes! I can hear joy in Maya's voice again! I feel glad for Dini, the fearsome weight of this project is lifted somewhat and breathing can become regular again! What a man. Make no mistake, you both made it here on your own merits, by your own blood and guts!
What a magical moment. Waiting 4 years to see Magic Carpet II taking to the water. I am so happy for you both and cannot wait for the experiences ahead.
Thank you for this wonderful post! Congratulations on your launch of your new home. As you say in your video, still many things to finish, but, this pause will refresh you and focus your determination to what you really need and really want your home to be for you. Enjoy your journey. We're enjoying being invited to follow along! We're all cheering for you.
It must be simply the common thread that connects people from any nation or culture.....: The excitement and contentment of seeing the success of people who have worked hard to accomplish their dream. Well done, my fellow humans! She is gorgeous, and it's because of your time, vision, energy, and follow through! B R A V O on (another) job well done! Thank your sharing your journey with us!
Wonderful to see Magic Carpet on the water where a boat belongs. Good to hear all the comforting sounds of floating on water. Well done and congratulations
Congratulations, she looks amazing , even more beautiful in the water. You have reason to be proud and happy. We have followed you all along. Tears in my eyes..my husband moved by all the hard work, persévérance , craftmenship and love put into this ship. Gefeliciteerd en groetjes. . Happy sailing. The best is yet to come. Love from Québec ❤️
I like to give you both a virtual hug… after all this time… and she looks perfect… acknowledging the time and effort you put in. The result in in the final part. Cooking in the new home and sitting in the cockpit..l taking it all in….
Magic Carpet 2 is an absolute credit to you both and I felt as if I was standing next to you all during the launch. Go and enjoy your fruits of your labour. Have fun and keep safe. Cheers Ian
Splashing the boat is so exciting!!! This boat never dreamed of sailing again let alone that Aladino would make it an example of unrivaled craftsmanship!!!
Thank you Maya and Aladino, for letting us all live vicariously through out this sometime stressful, most knowledge seeking, always inspirational rebuild of Magic Carpet II. I am as grateful for your kindness and generosity with production as I am overwhelmed by the beauty you both have presented us on this adventure. May your first sail aboard be as perfect as you both have allowed the presentation to be, each and every week. Thank you again and enjoy!
Wow, what a milestone moment. She floats!! Also, the first meal on the water. The presentation was wonderful and it looked delicious. Next up, down the river we go. Thank you.
As Mr. Buehler would have said: "she floats right side up." 15 years out of water.... kind of like a new boat really. Congrats all around. We weren't out on the water near enough this year.hope you did better.
Seeing Aladino look out over the water, accompanied by bird sounds and gurgling water made the stress I was feeling for your project float away. I can only begin to imagine what it did for your souls. I’m so happy for you!
This old, broken down, landlocked, ex-Navy, ex-private boater, ex-deep water fisherman, ex-scuba diver, had tears of absolute and unbridled joy for you two as Magic Carpet floated free of the slings. What a long strange trip it’s been! Congratulations from the bottom of my heart, 🍾Cheers from Dallas🍸
Following you all this years changed me: I can't do any work without vacuuming simultaneously as I learned from Aladino. I think the vacuum cleaner deserves a chapter as long, detailed and emotional as the boat.
You have every reason to be proud of yourselves on finishing what appeared to be a unsurmountable challenge from the get go. Cudos - and keep the footage coming 😀
Congratulations again! A boat being launched is always a lovely moment. After the years of hard work, tough challenges, visa deadlines, relentless tasks and lots more the reality of being afloat must a huge relief. The achievement is yours, a reality. Great to see the kind support from family and friends.
finally. Also some really nice news this week. That brightened up these days for me. It gives me hope because it shows me that there are nice people who put their time and energy into such great projects with passion and beauty. I'm very happy for you, you did a great job with the boat. Thanks for the work of documenting. I was able to learn a lot for my own boat and projects. Grüässli us SG.
The culmination of so much hard work! Phantastic job, folks, nobody could have done it better. And kudos to you for persisting in spite of the occasional burnout!!! Happy sailing!
Kids, just for the record, I have not been able to help you as I would desire to do, but I must admit, as an eighty-five-year-old grandfather, when Magic Carpet went into the water, it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you both for such an amazing trip through your beautiful story.
I remember years ago you buying this thing, and there were SO many comments of how expensive and time-consuming and just bad the purchase was. But supporters knew of all people you two would get it done and have the ship builder knowledge to accomplish it. Congratulations.
Love you two! ❤️ I've watched since the beginning, like many amazing sailing channels. Unfortunately I've never had the money to become a patron, but I work in the marine industry in Gibraltar, worked up and down the west coast of America from Seattle to San Francisco. If you or a friend ever find yourselfs in Gibraltar I work at Sheppards. I will be more than happy to help any way I can. I hope to see you out there one day. Your boat is beautiful, your craft is inspirational. Your music is unreal! I'm a classical guitarist and former Luthier for Taylor guitars, built president Bill Clintons guitar, love the Symphony and it brings great joy to see the commitment to both woodworking and music. Plus I love sailing. Congrats to you both and to all that helped you. ❤️😎👍
I feel the joy too,its been a long hard journey to get you here and its only a few more steps.Well done to you both and all who helpt you on your way.Soon you can go out and see the world, much love to you both.
The sounds of water lapping the boat, the waterfowl darting around chasing insects in the last of the light, Aldino lighting the night watch, lost in thought, and the only thing missing was a quiet violin. Tomorrow
She is in the Water!! I’m so happy for you and Aladino. I want to jump up and run out the door yelling “She’s in the water!! Magic Carpet II is in the water”!!! She is so Beautiful.
