    A pair of aggressive Trygg (Norwegian company that builds there chains in Norway) tire chains for the rear axle (maybe even a pair for the front axle) and around 2,000lbs of weight in the bed are going to make a night and day difference in how well that pickup will plow that snow, on that terrain. It's certainly worth taking the time in having the right tools for this particular job. Cheers!

    There's a lot to be said about real snow tires and shaving layers when it comes to deep snow, works for me and I have a 1/2 ton truck and straight blade. One thing for sure it's still really hard on the truck

    • @vincer7795
      @vincer7795 ปีที่แล้ว

      Way harder on a 1/2 ton considering you don’t have a solid front axle. Personally, I would never mount a plow on a 1/2 ton, but I also live somewhere where we got 2 feet in 24 hours yesterday. I’m sure the guys running half tons were struggling compared to those running 3/4 and 1 tons. I know all my coworkers were struggling with gassers and the powerstroke I was running never skipped a beat.

    i run a meyers 7 foot straight blade on a 1998 ford expedition and dealing with this same amount of snow.we had record snow fall i am guessing well over 2 feet in around 30 hours in kenai,alaska.i was looking into a v-plow but it looks like you are having the same problems i am having.there was a couple of jobs i could not do because of nowhere to put snow and can only move so much.i am just doing a little learning to know what other options i can think of.i was looking into haan tech snowblowers for 1/2 ton trucks but they discontinued them.i was really interested because the loaded weight is 650 pounds.i have about 25 1998 ford expeditions for parts so not worried about breaking them but have had great luck for 3 years and have not broke anything yet.thank you for the informative video.

    'Bout need a tractor or loader with those drifts but you got it done with the tools you had. You should be able to adjust the relief valves on those wings so they don't fold back quite so easily. Must be your first time snow plowing? Few quick tips. real snow tires and put at least 1000lbs in the back of the truck. When trying to bust through snow don't open the blade at all that's the point of the V plow.

  • @kcmminnesota3177
    @kcmminnesota3177 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    At points in your video such as 6:57, I notice the right wing folding back. I would assume you are not doing that intentionally. While I'm not familiar with Boss plows or with V-plows, I have a Western plow that started doing the same thing some years back. I'd go to pushing snow and the blade would not stay where I wanted it. I bought new hydraulic cylinders 5 years ago and so far it's still working like it's supposed to. So I have to ask the question, is there a chance you need new cylinders or need to rebuild the ones you have? Because if that's how the Boss V-plow is supposed to work, then I'm thankful to have the blade I have.

    An auger snow blower would be a whole lot better for that depth. With that blade, tire combination w/o chains, a distant chance, maybe when fresh, but you can hear the 'crunch' of the frozen top. Not providing enough inertia to have that blade knife through that depth of snow - and some uphill besides? Doing unnecessary damage to that truck. The right tool at the right time

    Nice truck, however that BOSS plow is useless. Boss and Sno-Way are very similar in design and construction They are simply junk.
    The driver is inexperienced but he can learn.
    Get rid of the plow and buy a fisher, western or Artic. Anything else will be a disappointment
