- Great news for Punisher fans- the story of The Punisher will be told in the MCU as Marvels The Punisher will reappear with Frank Castle played by none other than Jon Bernthal. The Jon Bernthal Punisher was distinctly darker than what the MCU has portrayed itself as mostly, but with Daredevil: Born Again on the horizon, so will be the Punisher/Daredevil relationship that often defines their characters. As Punisher joins Daredevil: Born Again, its not totally clear what the tone will be, based on the only evidence we have of Daredevil, MCU edition.
Could the Punisher, MCU version face being toned down? Is the MCU, Marvel at large, and Marvel Studios really going to keep the darker and more violent themes of the show and air them on Disney+? Or will we see a blend for the Disney Plus version of Daredevil and Punisher? IGN has ideas based on history, which host Kim Horcher lays down here as we eagerly await the return of Charlie Cox and Daredevil, MCU edition.

Shuri had mercy on the guy who bombed her home and killed her mom. T'challa had mercy on the guy who killed his dad. There was mercy all over the Hawkeye series, the Wandavision series, the Falcon and Winter Soldier series.

Jon Burnthal stole EVERY scene he was in as the punisher in season 2 of Daredevil, also yes, if Jon is coming back to the marvel universe as Frank Castle. Then it definitely has to have a mature/R rating, anything less would be an insult to the character and the fans.

Punisher can work if they either begin doing more mature rated individual films or another tv miniseries, or have Castle be like a more disgruntled veteran that contrasts Captain America but use energy based weapons that give the implication of killing but doesn’t leave any gore to keep it a family friendly rating.

You could have it that his Punisher (from the Sony universe) becomes the Cosmic Rider. He could play the part well, it would allow Frank Castle to co-exist as The Punisher and Cosmic Ghost Rider at the same time, and it would be really cool to see him reprise his role as Frank once more.
