@@jackcrofts-mullin461 you gotta remember for Castle. At least in the comics. The Veteran community much of the time gave him safe haven. In fact one of the comics showed Castle hiding out with a "militia" cause the majority of them were Veterans hiding out from the world. Back in those comics it was "shell shocked" Veterans.
Hands down best performance in the entire MCU. This man deserves an Emmy for his "One batch, two batch" monologue. He's AMAZING. Marvel has never miscasted!

But really, the scene in the graveyard had me on the verge of tears. Once he said "it was her favorite book" I started choking up. Bernthal deserves an award for that scene alone.
Brilliant performance, and a great guy in real life. Also glad to see he did plenty of research about his character, unlike a lot of actors that get roles as comic book heroes, and know absolutely nothing about the character.

A bunch of them say they don't research because they want to get a clean and fresh perspective on the character. No influence, just their interpretation.

Now that the Punisher standalone series has arrived, it's safe to say that he didn't mess it up! Best Punisher ever! Hard to recognize him so chill here from his performance in the series. He's an excellent actor, and a really cool dude!

+Winter Soldier He was rumored to get his own spinoff show on Netflix. Those rumors were partially true, but first they wanted to see what the reception was like for Bernthal as the Punisher and then go from there. Seeing as how its nothing but positive reception i'd say they'd be stupid not to consider it now.

+Nik O It depends if you count Jessica Jones as one or not. It's a pretty different format for sure, but it was also an amazing show that compares extremely well to DD in terms of quality. If you don't want to count it because it's a different type of show with less superhero action, then sure, I would agree with you. Rewatching Daredevil season 2 simply for Frank Castle. I don't care about the lame Hand/Elektra subplot, or Matt's relationship and career suicide/implosion. I just watch for Frank, and Jon just owns the role. He makes Frank a man who is entirely unhinged and strangely held together, a complete paradox. You trust him because he's honest and has honor, but you can't trust him because he won't ever stop in his endless quest to murder everyone he knows has to die. LOVE Frank Castle in the show. Jon gives such an emotional and likable performance that outshines literally everyone else this season. With Frank, who cares about Elektra? And other than Frank, the only other person pulling their weight is Foggy. Matt, stop destroying your life!

+Daniel Flores I'm just surprised, isn't Daredevil a marvel character? I thought they only did childish superheroes with lots of jokes, little to no violence, no blood or anything like that. I'm super surprised and I love how dark the show is, it just feels like you can relate to the characters.

That expression he makes at the beginning, when he is cheered on by the audience- I love that, because that's the look of humility and gratitude. I know it because I've seen it before from people I've worked with- people who have been working for a long time, people who have made several mistakes and learned from them, people whose works speak for themselves, people who believe that they're only as good as their last work, so they gotta work some more, and people who don't work for the sake of glory but purely for passion. He's not like, "Hell, yeah! I'm the Punisher!" I don't see any arrogance in him, and that's what makes him admirable (besides good looks and acting chops, of course) in my book.

Taking into account I've finished the first eight episodes of Daredevil season two, I think I can name Jon Bernthal the best Punisher so far! Whereas Lundgren, Jane, and Stevenson made Frank Castle out to be a lumbering, strong, silent, badass; Bernthal made him a character by fleshing out his background and psyche, whilst still making him a hardcore badass.
UPDATE Watched all of Daredevil and Netflix’s the Punisher and my judgement has gotten even stronger!

I haven't finished watching Season 2, but I can tell you Netflix/Marvel has assembled an outstanding Crew for this show.
I'm talking about the Writers, Directors, Producers, Actors & anyone that was involved did an incredibly great job on this series.

This is the the only part of any interview with Job Bernthal and he seems like a amiable, down to earth guy. It also further solidifies how well he plays the part of Frank Castle. If Daredevil is anything to go by The Punisher is going to be amazing.

I'm always surprised by just how different his normal voice is from his on screen roles, whether it's Shane, Frank, or his character in the wolf of wall street all the voices are truly different

I still can't get over how well spoken Jon Bernthal is. He sounds just as much not like "Shane" in real life as much as Andrew "Londonborn" Lincoln sounds not like "Rick Grimes."
